Chapter 1257 If You Love Me, I Won't Give Up
Susan smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Alright, you two are making everyone jealous. You both have someone who cares for you!" Cecilia said enviously.
"Doesn't Daryl do the same for you? He broke off his engagement with Skylar and even gave up being the CEO of Fields Corporation just to marry you!" Isabella retorted.
Cecilia smiled shyly and said nothing.
After chatting for a while, Cecilia's phone suddenly rang.
Isabella teased, "He can't even go a little while without calling you. Marriage really changes things. Look at us married folks, we can be out for hours without a single call!"
Blushing, Cecilia took out her phone and frowned when she saw the caller ID. It wasn't Daryl, but Barry, whom she hadn't heard from in a long time.
"I need to take this call," Cecilia said, standing up and heading outside.
Watching Cecilia leave, Isabella smirked, "She's so shy, she has to go outside to take the call."
Susan laughed, "They're still in the honeymoon phase. Unlike us married couples, they still have passion."
Isabella pouted, "You're right. There's no passion left. He can go ten days without touching me!"
Susan replied, "I think Leon is just worried about your health. You haven't been well since having your second child. He's being considerate."
"Really? I hadn't thought of it that way," Isabella said, touching her face thoughtfully.
Just then, Isabella's phone rang. She looked at the screen and smiled. "Speak of the devil, he's calling me now."
Susan laughed, "You're the one who's really cherished!"
As soon as Susan finished speaking, her phone rang too. She looked at the screen and smiled.
Seeing Susan's expression, Isabella knew who it was. "You always say it's me, but you're just as cherished!"
Susan smiled and the two women happily took their calls.
Outside the café, Cecilia answered Barry's call.
"Barry?"
"Cecilia, how have you been?" Barry's voice came through quickly.
"I'm good. How about you? And how's Seraphine? I haven't seen or heard from her in a while. I feel so guilty for what happened," Cecilia said, feeling remorseful.
Barry reassured her, "Cecilia, it's not your fault. My mom has been thinking about retiring for a while. The magazine wanted her back, but she decided she'd rather travel with my dad while they're still in good health."
"Really?" Cecilia felt a bit relieved.
Barry continued, "I've always wanted to see the beautiful landscapes of Luminara, so I'm going to travel with them for a while."
"Safe travels," Cecilia said with a smile.
Barry added, "I'm leaving Maple Valley soon. I have something for you that I never got a chance to give. Where are you? I'll bring it over."
"What is it?" Cecilia asked, puzzled.
"Remember the painting I did for you when we went to the countryside? It's finished. I want you to see if you like it," Barry said with a laugh.
Cecilia remembered the painting and said, "Sure, I'm at the café."
"See you soon," Barry said before hanging up.
When Cecilia returned to the café, Susan and Isabella were still on their calls with their husbands. Cecilia smiled and quietly sipped her coffee, listening to their happy conversations.
A few minutes later, Susan and Isabella hung up.
"You two are so sweet!" Cecilia said with a smile.
Isabella said, "Leon finally has time to go shopping with me, so I'm heading out."
"Seb is taking the kids to the amusement park, so I'm leaving too. We'll be there early for your wedding, Cecilia. Bye!" Susan said hurriedly before leaving with Isabella.
Watching them leave, Cecilia smiled to herself.
If married life could be as happy as theirs, it would be like living in a fairy tale.
Fifteen minutes later, Barry arrived at the café.
Cecilia waved at him, and Barry, looking as handsome as ever in his leather jacket, walked over and sat down.
"It's been a while. How have you been?" Cecilia asked with a smile.
"Good. I heard you're getting married to Daryl?" Barry asked suddenly.
Cecilia smiled and nodded, "Yes."
Barry smiled wryly, "I won't be able to attend your wedding, so consider this painting my wedding gift to you."
He handed her the painting. Cecilia unwrapped the red cloth and saw a lifelike portrait of herself.
"It's amazing!" Cecilia said, touching the painting in awe.
"I'm glad you like it," Barry said, smiling at her reaction.
"Thank you, Barry. I love it," Cecilia said sincerely.
Barry hesitated, then said, "I'm happy you and Daryl found each other. I hope you'll always be happy."
"Thank you, Barry. We wouldn't be together without your understanding and generosity," Cecilia said, her eyes full of gratitude.
Barry smiled bitterly, "Cecilia, you don't need to thank me. If you had loved me, I would never have let you go."
