Chapter 253 Looking for Mommy

Ethan suddenly got mad. He shoved Amelia and fixed his collar, saying, "Fine, if you're not scared of embarrassment, why should I be? Call the cops, do it now!"

Amelia was stunned. She knew Ethan had been evading her to preserve his reputation. His sudden change in attitude left her at a loss. Without that leverage and considering his family's sway, she found herself devoid of any upper hand.

George knew Ethan wasn't serious about calling the police, so he stepped in. "Ethan, you and Miss Garcia should handle this privately. The police have enough on their plate. Go somewhere else to sort it out."

Ethan wasn't as scared. "What's there to sort? She'll just accuse me of rape!"

Amelia stayed silent, clearly not wanting to involve the police since it wouldn't help her.

Noticing the tension, George subtly nudged Ethan and whispered, "This isn't good for either of you. Better to discuss it elsewhere."

Ethan got the hint and reluctantly said, "If you're willing to talk properly, I'll talk."

"Who said I can't talk properly?" Amelia muttered.

"Let's go!" Ethan pouted and headed for the door.

Susan quickly stepped aside to let him out, and Amelia hurriedly followed.

As Amelia walked out, she saw Susan by the door and was startled.

Susan stayed calm, their eyes sharp from years of rivalry.

Seeing Susan in a wedding dress and glancing back at George, Amelia quickly figured it out.

She then sneered, "No wonder James said you were getting married again. I was curious about the lucky lady. Your ability to locate a lawyer post-divorce is quite impressive. Seems like you've surpassed the matchmaking talent of your late, unwelcome mother!"

Susan was furious at the insult to Catherine but felt it was beneath her to get angry.

She shouted back, "Amelia, you haven't changed at all. No wonder no one wants you. Who'd marry a shameless woman like you?"

Amelia was instantly furious.

George thought about stepping in but decided to let Susan handle it.

Susan continued, "Forcing Ethan to marry you, no one else would do that. Got a free show today!"

When it came to arguing, Susan never lost.

"Susan, want to get hit again?" Amelia stepped forward to push Susan.

Susan quickly stepped back, and George shouted, "Miss Garcia, if you don't leave now, Ethan's probably already escaped!"

The words hit their mark. Amelia, driven by her relentless pursuit of Ethan, couldn't afford to lose him over a mere spat with Susan. She pointed at Susan and said, "We'll see about this!" Then she ran outside.

After Amelia left, George took Susan's hand and smiled. "You look beautiful in that wedding dress!"

"I just didn't expect this to happen," Susan said, glancing where Amelia had gone.

"She can't out-argue you anyway. Just treat it as a show," George replied.

"What's up with Ethan's mom?" Susan asked.

"Freya passed away from an illness six months ago. That's why Amelia's so bold now. Ethan's too concerned about his reputation to stand up to her. I doubt he'll get away easily this time," George said, amused.

"Amelia won't let go of a rich guy like Ethan without getting something out of it," Susan said, knowing Amelia too well.

"Let's not talk about them. It ruins our mood," George said, leading Susan to a large mirror.

Looking at Susan in the mirror, George nodded. "This wedding dress suits you. Let's go with this one."

"Whatever you say." Susan smiled.

Half an hour later, Susan walked out of the bridal shop with George.

In a corner, Seb, dressed in a black trench coat, saw them laughing and frowned, feeling irritated.

"Daddy, is that Mommy?" Hayden tugged at Seb's coat.

Seb squatted down, held Hayden's small shoulders, and said, "That's your mommy. It's all up to you now!"

"Mission accepted!" Hayden said, running towards Susan.

George opened the passenger door for Susan. Just as she was about to get in, she heard a child's voice. "Mommy!"

Susan instinctively stopped and turned around. She saw a cute little boy, about three or four years old, in a black jacket running towards her. He grabbed the hem of her coat and called, "Mommy!"

Bewildered, Susan scanned the area and found no one else in sight. She crouched down, her face breaking into a warm smile as she addressed the young boy, "Are you looking for your mom?"

"You are my mommy!" Hayden said, staring at her with big eyes.

Susan was completely confused. 'Where did this kid come from, and why is he calling me mommy? He looks well-dressed and from a wealthy family. He can't be an unwanted child,' she thought.

George, impatient, said, "Stop messing around, kid. Go find your parents. We have things to do."
