Chapter 1029 Rogue
After Susan and the caregiver left, the whole ward was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Isabella kept her head down, not sure how to face Leon. Her heart was a mess of emotions.
Leon stood by the hospital bed, staring at the nearly empty IV bottle, not saying a word.
After a bit, Isabella glanced up to check the IV, but her eyes accidentally met Leon's.
His eyes were still deep, his face looked tired, and he had stubble on his chin, not his usual clean-cut look.
'Is he looking like this because he's overwhelmed by scandals and impeachment?' Isabella felt a pang of sadness.
'Serves him right! Who told him to act like that?' she thought bitterly.
After a moment of eye contact, Isabella quickly looked away, feeling anxious under his gaze.
Leon finally broke the silence, "The IV is empty. I'll go call the nurse."
He left the ward, even though there was an internal phone he could've used. Maybe he felt uneasy too.
Soon, the nurse came to remove Isabella's needle and gave some instructions. She said Isabella could be discharged.
Once Isabella got dressed, Leon silently handed her bag over.
Seeing the bag, Isabella took it from him.
"Let's go," Leon said.
He was clearly here to pick her up, but Isabella didn't want to accept his help.
"I'll call a cab. I know you're busy, I won't take up your time," she said coldly, stepping out of the ward.
Leon hesitated for a moment, then followed her.
Isabella walked ahead, with Leon silently trailing behind.
When she walked out of the inpatient building, a familiar car was already parked out front. Royce saw her coming and opened the back door.
Isabella didn't even glance at it and walked in another direction.
Seeing this, Leon frowned and stepped in front of her.
"Good people don't block the way, move!" Isabella snapped.
Leon replied seriously, "I'm not a good person."
Isabella couldn't help but smile at that.
Seeing her smile, Leon smiled too.
Then, Isabella quickly stopped smiling.
Leon softened his tone, "Stop being stubborn and go home. Milo's crying for milk."
Hearing this, Isabella's anger deflated.
Every afternoon, Kathy would bring Milo to the hospital to nurse.
Because of the weaning shot last time, Isabella didn't have as much milk as before. Milo was used to nursing once a day, and she didn't feel particularly engorged anymore.
She was glad to see Milo once a day, but she still missed him a lot. So when Leon mentioned Milo, she gave in.
"It's hard to get a cab at this time. Do you want Milo to cry a little longer?" Leon added, sensing her hesitation.
Milo was Isabella's weak spot, so without much thought, she lowered her head and got into the car.
The car quickly hit the road, and the atmosphere inside was tense. Neither Isabella nor Leon said a word.
Isabella thought Leon would be mad at her, given all the trouble she had caused him. But when the car stopped at their house, he still hadn't said a thing.
After getting out, Isabella couldn't hold back anymore. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Leon looked at her deeply and replied, "I thought you didn't want to hear me speak."
Isabella rolled her eyes. "You're right, I really don't want to hear your voice!"
She turned and walked away.
As soon as she stepped into the house, she heard Milo crying.
"Mrs. Johnson, you're finally back. Milo has been crying non-stop," Kathy said, holding Milo and quickly walking over.
Isabella took Milo, held him close, and kissed his cheek. "Milo, did you miss me? I missed you too!"
Milo was crying for his mom because he wanted to nurse. In Isabella's arms, he kept tugging at her clothes.
Seeing this, Isabella went into the bedroom with Milo.
Sitting by the bed, she lifted her shirt and began to nurse him.
As soon as Milo started nursing, he stopped crying and fussing, his chubby little hand still tugging at her clothes.
Leon was already standing at the door. Seeing this, his face softened, and his eyes were filled with affection.
Milo had probably tired himself out from crying earlier, and after nursing, he fell asleep.
As usual, Isabella placed Milo on the bed. Looking up, she saw Leon had already walked in.
"Milo is asleep?" Leon's voice was very low.
"Yes." Isabella nodded.
Leon stood by the bed, his eyes fixed on Milo, filled with infinite love.
His fatherly look softened Isabella's heart, and she asked in a low voice, "Did I cause you a lot of trouble this time?"
"Not really," Leon hesitated for a moment, probably not expecting her to ask, then replied.
Isabella deliberately used a gloating tone. "Even if it was a big trouble, you deserved it!"
Leon frowned and stepped forward, causing Isabella to instinctively step back until her heel hit the bed.
She lost her balance, and Leon took another step forward, his big hand wrapping around her waist.
For a moment, Isabella was very close to him, and she could even smell his scent.
"What are you doing?" Isabella felt a deep light in his eyes, making her nervous, and she tilted her head back.
Leon leaned in, his lips almost touching her nose.
Sensing her anxiety, Leon smiled and said, "We haven't divorced yet, so whatever I do is reasonable."
Isabella's face turned red, and she cursed, "Scoundrel!"
Leon’s hand on her back tightened, and his gaze became even more intense.
