Chapter 1012 Shameless
Even though the bag cost a fortune and was probably a limited edition, Isabella felt a sharp pang in her chest.
Frustrated, she chucked the bag onto the floor.
The hardware clanged loudly against the ground.
Milo, who had been playing by himself, got startled and started bawling.
Seeing Milo cry, Isabella felt a wave of regret. She rushed over, scooped him up, and tried to calm him down. "Milo, it's okay. Don't be scared. It's my fault. I didn't mean to scare you."
As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes. She felt guilty and deeply wronged.
Milo kept crying for a while. In the end, Isabella had to breastfeed him to calm him down.
Once Milo had his milk, he finally settled down. Isabella, drenched in sweat, felt a bit of relief.
As she relaxed, she felt completely drained, leaning against the headboard with Milo still in her arms.
That day, Leon didn't come home after work and skipped dinner too.
Milo lay quietly asleep on the bed, while Isabella, still in her pajamas, stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out into the night, feeling sad and lonely.
She clutched her phone. Tonight was supposed to be a sweet night for the couple, but it had turned out like this.
Her heart was in turmoil. Looking at the sleeping Milo, she didn't want a divorce. She couldn't bear it. Even though Leon's cheating had shattered her expectations of marriage, if he could cut ties with Bronte, she could forgive him. Milo was too young; he needed a complete family, and his future was uncertain.
Isabella couldn't bear to think further. If Milo inherited Leon's mother's genes, he would need even more care and attention in the future.
Isabella was a person with strong principles. She had been with Leon purely for love and believed she would leave gracefully if he ever stopped loving her. But in the face of reality, Isabella was defeated.
At this moment, she could understand why Susan had endured so much humiliation for her two kids, letting Seb do whatever he wanted. Kids were the most important thing for a mother, and for them, a mother could endure any hardship.
Isabella opened her phone's keypad, deciding to call Leon to have a serious talk. If he still wanted this family, he should cut ties with Bronte completely.
But before she could dial the number, a call came in.
She didn't recognize the number. Frowning, she pressed the answer button.
"Hello, who is this?" Isabella said into the phone.
A laugh came from the other end, followed by a familiar female voice. "Isabella, you should recognize my voice, right?"
Hearing Bronte's voice, Isabella immediately shivered.
She didn't know why Bronte was calling her, but she knew it couldn't be good.
"I've got nothing to say to you," Isabella snapped, ready to hang up.
Bronte quickly interjected, "What? Scared to hear my voice? Or scared to face the fact that Leon and I are together?"
Isabella knew Bronte was trying to get under her skin, but she was curious about what she had to say.
Isabella sneered. "Bronte, if you want to talk about how long you've loved Leon and how you grew up together, save it. I already know all that, and it's ancient history. Even if you and Leon were married before, so what? Everyone has a past. Right now, Leon and I are the legal couple."
Bronte laughed. "Isabella, I know you've accepted all those old stories. You probably pray every day, thinking they're just past events that won't affect your relationship with Leon. But if you think that way, you're dead wrong. If my relationship with Leon was just that, I wouldn't be so confident."
"What are you getting at?" Isabella sensed Bronte was about to drop a bombshell.
Sure enough, Bronte sneered. "Today is Valentine's Day, right? It's your first one since marrying Leon, isn't it? Is he not at home with you?"
"What are you trying to say?" Isabella's heart filled with an inexplicable fear. She had a bad feeling—could Leon be with her?
Bronte continued, "Leon is really a good man. He doesn't want to give me up, but he also doesn't want to hurt you. So last night, the night before Valentine's Day, we spent a sweet evening together. He originally planned to be with you today, but you didn't appreciate it."
Hearing this, Isabella's grip on the phone tightened. She said angrily, "Bronte, you come from a prestigious family. How can you be so shameless, being proud of being a mistress to a married man!"
"Whether Leon is married or not, I love him. As long as he doesn't object, I'll always be with him!" Bronte shouted over the phone.
"Aren't you afraid of being scorned by others? Don't you feel any pain? The man you love can't give you marriage or a complete relationship!" Isabella shot back.
Isabella couldn't tell if Bronte was infatuated or just plain stubborn. No matter how much she loved Leon, he was a married man. Bronte, with her beauty, good family background, and education, was lowering herself to seduce a married man.
"So what? As long as I love him and he loves me, that's enough! What if he can give you marriage? He still cheats on you. Leon can't devote all his heart and soul to you alone.
Isabella, Leon only married you because you were pregnant with his kid. Who knows, he might divorce you one day and marry me. I can wait forever, but you'll live in constant fear of being abandoned. I think Leon also wants you to raise the kid a bit more, after all, you are his kid's mother," Bronte said harshly.
