Chapter 656 Lost Soul
At this moment, Rylee, standing just six feet away from Susan, sneered, "Susan, who are you putting on this act for? If you really cared about Hayden and Spring, you wouldn't have done such despicable things. Let me tell you, Seb won't go easy on you this time. You'd better give up!"
Susan slowly stood up, looked Rylee in the eye, and said calmly, "Whether Seb goes easy or not is between him and me. It's none of your business."
"You..." Rylee was about to get angry.
Seb, standing inside the ornate wrought-iron gate, said to Rylee, "Rylee, this has nothing to do with you. Go inside!"
Rylee, seeing Susan as an enemy, was naturally unwilling. "Seb, I..."
"I told you to go inside!" Seb's patience had run out, and his voice was rough.
Rylee knew Seb's temper was at its breaking point and he could explode at any moment.
So, she shot Susan a glance, then obediently turned and went through the gate, heading back to the villa.
Susan looked through the ornate wrought-iron gate at Seb's sullen face and said as calmly as possible, "You can see the kids can't be without me. Please don't take away my rights as their mother, and don't deprive them of the love they deserve from me."
Susan knew she couldn't be too forceful with Seb. Although she usually chose to confront him directly, this time was different because it concerned whether she could see Hayden and Spring in the future. She had to stay rational.
Susan couldn't think of a better way to deal with Seb than to appeal to his emotions and reason, so she decided to give it a try.
Seb hesitated for a moment, then put one hand in his pocket and said coldly, "Kids are very adaptable. It won't be long before they forget you."
With that, Seb turned and walked towards the villa.
Hearing this, Susan immediately shouted at his back, "I am their mother. They will never forget me, no matter what!"
Seb stopped in his tracks, then suddenly turned around and looked at Susan. "You've proven yourself unfit to be a mother, Susan. Your continued presence in their lives will only serve to corrupt and damage them. And don't think for a second that you can use them as leverage against me. As for their need for a mother…rest assured, I'll find a suitable replacement soon enough. A woman of dignity and grace who will love and cherish them as her own. You won't be seeing them again, Susan. Do I make myself clear?"
With that, Seb turned and walked into the villa.
"Seb, you can't do this! Seb." Hearing Seb's words, Susan's eyes widened in horror, staring blankly at his back.
But no matter how much she shouted, he ignored her and disappeared into the villa.
Standing in front of the ornate wrought-iron gate, Susan's mind went blank!
How could he do this?
He said he would find a mother for the kids. Did he mean he wanted to remarry?
'If he wants to remarry, fine, but whoever he marries can't take over my kids, right?' she thought.
But Susan knew Seb was a man of his word. He would definitely do it.
Heartbroken and terrified, Susan knew she had to stop him. Without Hayden and Spring, how could she go on?
"Miss, please leave immediately. This is private property. Mr. Anderson instructed us to call the police if you don't leave!" At this moment, a bodyguard, after receiving a call, stepped forward and warned Susan.
Susan glanced at the bodyguard, knowing it was useless to stay here any longer, and left in despair.
That night, Susan tossed and turned, unable to sleep, her mind filled with images of Hayden and Spring.
Susan hadn't initially cared much about the accusations from Seb and Rylee.
They could think whatever they wanted, especially Seb. Susan hadn't expected him to think of her that way. She thought Seb understood her character well.
So, at first, Susan remained stubborn, refusing to dignify their accusations with an explanation. Later, even when she tried to reason with them, they refused to believe her.
But now, it seemed things were indeed troublesome. Seb was convinced she had conspired with Andrew and had approached him with ulterior motives back then, so he wouldn't even let her see the kids now. This was indeed troublesome.
The next morning, when Susan got up to wash, she found dark circles under her eyes.
But Susan was still at a loss.
Should she really meet Seb in court? Hire a lawyer to sue? Seb had a lot of influence in Maple Valley, and it would be hard to find a lawyer willing to take her case.
Should she ask George for help again? If she told him, George would definitely help. But Susan didn't want to ask him. She didn't want him to sacrifice for her again. She just wanted him to live happily with Maria.
And even if a lawyer took her case, lawsuits could drag on for a long time, and such cases were hard to win. Seb had many reasons to prevent her from seeing the kids.
So now, no method seemed feasible. She had to think long-term.
For several days, Susan was in a daze, unable to focus on work.
Before leaving work that day, Isabella looked at Susan's listless face and said, "Hey, what's wrong with you these days? You look like you've lost your soul."
"Nothing, maybe I'm just a bit tired?" Susan quickly started packing up to leave.
Susan didn't want to tell Isabella because Isabella was dating Leon now. Susan knew Isabella too well. If she knew about her situation, she would definitely stand up for her and pressure Leon to intervene.
Susan knew Seb's temper. If he found out Leon was meddling, he might fire Leon, and Susan didn't want to drag innocent people into this.
"If you're tired, take a break. The firm is running smoothly now. We may not make a lot of money each year, but at least you don't have to worry about your livelihood. Your health is the most important thing," Isabella advised.
"I'll keep that in mind," Susan nodded.
At that moment, Isabella's phone suddenly rang.
Looking down, Isabella smiled happily and said, "Hey, Leon's here to pick me up. I won't talk to you anymore. I'm leaving!"
"Go on, you lovebirds. Don't let me keep you from your daily dose of romance!" Susan teased, forcing a lightness she didn't feel.
