Chapter 398 Give Him a Surprise

Watching Amelia bounce, Isabella turned to see Susan's face all twisted up. She grabbed Susan and said, "Don't sweat it, she's just a drama queen. Ignore her crap."

"Yeah, I know." Susan nodded, then took off with Isabella.

Even though Susan knew Amelia was a piece of work and usually didn't give a damn about what she said, today Amelia's words hit a nerve. Her heart was still aching, and Amelia's words kept echoing in her head.

After splitting from Isabella, Susan wandered the streets for a while before heading home.

"Ms. Wilson, you're back?" As soon as Susan walked in, Mary came up to her, holding Spring.

"Yeah." Susan nodded, forcing a smile.

Usually, they called her "Ms. Wilson," and Susan never minded it; she actually kinda liked it.

But now, Susan found the title a bit off. After all, she was the mom of Hayden and Spring, and she was shacking up with Seb every day. This title reminded her again that she and Seb were kinda sneaking around.

The word "affair" was really gross. Susan had always hated affairs because, back then, James and Sophia had one for ages until Catherine gave up and agreed to divorce James. Only then did James and Sophia get hitched, and everyone looked down on them.

Of course, she and Seb were both single, and she wasn't breaking up any homes, but their relationship was still kinda hush-hush because, in front of others, she couldn't say she was Seb's wife.

"Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson came back earlier. He said he was going to the central district, waited for you for a bit, and then left. He asked me to tell you that he'll be back in a few days," Mary said.

"Got it." Susan nodded, then reached out to touch Spring's cheek and walked upstairs.

Usually, Susan would play with Spring for a bit when she got home. Seeing her acting weird today, Mary quickly stepped forward and asked, "Ms. Wilson, you don't look so hot. You okay?"

Hearing this, Susan turned and forced a smile. "Just a bit tired, need some rest."

"Then go rest. I'll take Spring outside for a walk," Mary said.

"Okay." Susan nodded and went upstairs.

Susan kicked off her slippers and flopped onto the soft bed.

She pulled the quilt over her head. Then, she suddenly threw it off and stared at the ceiling, making a decision. When Seb came back this time, she had to ask straight up. If Seb didn't want to remarry her, she would take Spring and move out. They couldn't keep living together without a clear status any more!

But that seemed like forcing a marriage. She wanted Seb to marry her willingly; she didn't want him to feel even a bit pressured.

Susan was in a pickle. What should she do?

The next morning, Susan and Isabella went to get their business license.

The staff behind the glass told Susan, "Since you registered a special industry, you need to go to the central district to file a record."

Taking the business license, Susan asked curiously, "We need to go to the central district?"

"Yep." The staff nodded.

Susan had no choice but to follow the steps the staff laid out and head out with Isabella.

"Why's it gotta be such a hassle? We gotta go all the way to the central district just for a record?" Isabella grumbled.

"We're in a special industry. Let's just get it done. We can't kick off the business without all the paperwork," Susan said.

"Then I'll go. You got two kids to look after," Isabella offered.

"It has to be done by the boss herself, so I'll go. I'll be back in two days. Kathy and Mary can handle Hayden and Spring at home, so I'm not worried," Susan smiled.

"Alright, it seems that I can chill for two days then," Isabella said.

Susan shot her a look and said, "In these two days, you need to check out office supplies. Compare prices from different stores and jot them down. We'll go shopping together when I get back, okay?"

"Ugh, so much work." Isabella pouted.

Susan laughed and said, "Starting our own gig needs careful planning. Being a boss is no joke. When we worked for others, we just did our tasks. Now that we're starting our own thing, we gotta handle everything. Those big-shot bosses have it tough too."

"So I'd rather work for you," Isabella said, buttering her up.

"Alright, you reap what you sow," Susan said, shaking her head.

The next morning, Susan hopped on the train to the central district.

On the train, Susan thought about calling Seb but hesitated.

After all, Seb was at his parents' place, and they might not be too thrilled to see her.

Susan decided to handle her business first and then think about other stuff. Her main goal in coming to the central district was to get the filing done.

After a hectic day, Susan finally walked out of the office hall in the late afternoon. Mission accomplished.

Looking up at the sky filled with colorful clouds, Susan realized she probably wouldn't catch the train back to Maple Valley tonight, so she decided to crash in the central district for the night.

After mulling it over, Susan thought Seb would be surprised if he knew she suddenly showed up. Maybe they needed a bit of romance, so tonight she wanted to give Seb a surprise.

Thinking about it, Susan dialed Seb's number.

Seb's deep, smooth voice came from the other end.

"Are you busy? Am I bugging you?" Susan spoke a bit nervously because Seb seemed super busy in the central district. She had called twice before, and there were always a bunch of people talking in the background.

"No, go ahead." Susan seemed to hear Seb pulling a chair and moving to a quieter spot.

"What are you up to?" Susan asked softly.

She needed to find out where Seb was so she could go find him and surprise him. Her mind was already picturing the look on Seb's face when he saw her out of the blue.

"I'm out with friends for dinner. We just got to the restaurant," Seb replied.

Hearing this, Susan playfully asked, "Friends? Are they guys or gals?"

"Of course, they're guys," Seb quickly answered.

At this point, Susan laughed. "I can't see anyway. If you lie to me, I wouldn't know."
