Chapter 570 Dust Settles

A few days later, one afternoon, Susan was sitting at her desk, feeling a bit drowsy.

Suddenly, her phone on the desk rang!

Susan picked up the phone and saw it was Catherine calling, so she quickly answered.

"Mom?"

"Susan, I'm going to the central district with Todd. Take good care of yourself," Catherine's voice quickly came through.

Hearing this, Susan was stunned and immediately interrupted Catherine, "Mom, what are you talking about? I don't understand. Didn't you say you wouldn't meet Todd? Why are you suddenly going to the central district with him?"

For a moment, Susan was no longer sleepy. Instead, she stood up quickly, frowning.

At this point, Catherine laughed and said, "Oh, I didn't explain it clearly to you. Todd and Carol have finalized their divorce."

Upon hearing this, Susan didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

She was genuinely happy for Catherine finding happiness, but Seb's family was now broken.

"So soon? When did this happen?" Susan couldn't help but ask.

"It was finalized just yesterday. Todd will come to pick me up soon. Susan, I might not come back often in the future. You and Dorothy need to take care of each other, okay?" Catherine said over the phone.

Susan knew that Todd would never set foot in Maple Valley again, and Catherine would be inseparable from him, so she would rarely see her in the future.

Then, Susan urgently asked, "Mom, where are you now? I'll come see you."

"I'm at the entrance of Dorothy's neighborhood, waiting for Todd." Catherine replied.

"Mom, wait for me. I'll be right there." With that, Susan hung up the phone and quickly ran out of her office.

"I'm stepping out for a bit!" Susan said to Isabella while putting on her coat, then quickly left the office.

"Where are you going in such a hurry? Must be another call from Seb," Isabella shook her head.

Rushing, the taxi finally stopped at the entrance of Dorothy's neighborhood.

Getting out of the taxi, Susan saw Catherine.

"Susan." Catherine stepped forward and held Susan's hand.

Seeing the luggage beside Catherine, Susan frowned and asked, "Mom, have you really decided?"

"Yes, from now on, I go where Todd goes." Catherine said firmly.

Susan nodded, but she felt very reluctant. She looked up and asked, "Where's Dorothy?"

"I didn't want her to feel sad, so I didn't let her come down to see me off," Catherine replied.

Seeing the tears in Catherine's eyes, Susan felt very sad, but she was afraid that if she cried, Catherine would cry as well. So she held Catherine's hand and said, "Mom, don't worry. I'll take good care of myself and Dorothy."

"Okay," Catherine finally shed tears.

Susan quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe Catherine's tears, then took out a bank card from her bag and handed it to Catherine.

"What's this?" Catherine asked in surprise.

Susan smiled and said, "This card has fifty thousand dollars in it. Take it with you."

"No need, Todd said his pension is enough for both of us." Catherine firmly refused.

But Susan insisted, "Todd left with nothing. He probably doesn't have much money. Besides, you're not with Todd for his money. You can't always ask him for money, right?"

Hearing this, Catherine reluctantly accepted it.

At this moment, a black luxury car stopped by the roadside, followed by a black Bentley.

Susan was very familiar with that Bentley.

Seeing Seb get out of the Bentley, Susan couldn't help but frown.

A person got out of the driver's seat of the black luxury car in front, and Susan saw that it was Leon.

Leon walked to the back seat and opened the door. A cane touched the ground first, followed by Todd getting out of the car.

Seeing Catherine, Todd's eyes flashed with excitement. Catherine's eyes met his, and with just one look, the two weathered souls communicated everything.

Seeing Susan, Todd stepped forward and said seriously, "Susan, don't worry. I'll take good care of Catherine."

Susan felt a bit awkward hearing Todd say this, but since they would be supporting each other for the rest of their lives, she had to face it.

Then, Susan looked up and said, "I hope you can take care of each other for the rest of your lives. My mom had a hard first half of her life."

Susan didn't continue because Todd was smart enough to understand her words.

"I will make sure she's happy for the rest of her days." Todd looked at Catherine and promised.

"Yes, I believe you will." Susan nodded.

At this moment, Leon opened the trunk and put Catherine's luggage inside.

"Let's go," Todd said, holding Catherine's hand.

"Okay," Catherine nodded, looking at Susan with reluctance.

Seeing Todd about to take Catherine away, and knowing they would almost never return to Maple Valley, Susan felt her tears welling up.

Susan knew it wasn't the time to cry, so she held back her reluctance, stepped forward, and hugged Catherine's neck, whispering in her ear, "Mom, you must be happy!"

Hearing this, Catherine couldn't hold back her tears and choked, saying, "You must be happy too."

"Yes," Susan nodded, then let go of Catherine.

Then, Catherine got into the car with Todd's help.

After Todd got in, Leon nodded at Susan, then got in the car as well. The car drove away under Susan's watchful eyes.

It wasn't until the car was out of sight that Susan wiped her tears.

Turning around, Susan saw someone standing behind her.

Seb put his arm around Susan's shoulder, his gaze returning from the distance.

Susan looked up at Seb and frowned, asking, "You came to see your dad off, right?"

"Yes," Seb admitted.

"Then why didn't you say goodbye or talk to him?" Susan frowned.

Seb was silent for a moment before saying, "I didn't know what to say."

Hearing this, Susan understood. After all, Seb's parents had divorced, which was an awkward and sad situation. His family had fallen apart.

In his heart, he still resented Todd, but since Todd was his father, he could only hide that resentment deep inside.
