Chapter 975 Proposal
Upon hearing this, Leon's face lit up with a big grin. He quickly threw an arm around Isabella's shoulder and said, "Yeah, let's head upstairs and chat!"
Once inside, Isabella glanced at the drenched Leon and said, "Go take a shower, now!"
"Got it." Leon nodded, still grinning, and made his way to the bathroom without another word.
Just as he reached the bathroom door, he suddenly remembered something, spun around, grabbed Isabella's shoulder, and planted two quick, firm kisses on her cheek before letting go.
"What are you doing? You're soaking wet!" Isabella complained, but her eyes were soft.
"Wait for me, I'll be quick," Leon said, smiling at her.
As Leon disappeared into the bathroom, Isabella called out, "Make sure the water's hot!"
The rain outside was freezing, and he'd been out in it for hours. She was really worried he might catch a cold.
"Okay!" Leon shouted back before closing the bathroom door.
With the door shut, a smile finally spread across Isabella's face.
She glanced at the clock on the wall; it was almost eight. Feeling a bit hungry, she headed to the kitchen to start cooking. Leon hadn't eaten much all day either.
After a bit of chopping and washing veggies, Leon's voice echoed from the bathroom.
"Honey, bring me my pajamas!" The way he called her that made Isabella pause for a moment.
She went to find his pajamas.
Most of Leon's stuff had been mailed to him, but luckily, he'd left some luggage at her place after his last trip from Northstar City.
Isabella found his pajamas in his suitcase and brought them to the bathroom door.
As soon as she knocked, Leon opened the door.
Isabella turned her face away, handed over the pajamas, and said, "Stop calling me that."
Leon took the pajamas, smiling, and asked, "Why not?"
"Just don't!" Isabella said firmly, then headed back to the kitchen to continue cooking.
Five minutes later, just as Isabella was about to start stir-frying, Leon came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Feeling his familiar embrace, Isabella's hand froze.
Leon buried his face in her neck, and she felt his gentle kisses.
They hadn't been this close in a long time. The past six months had been so tough. Isabella closed her eyes, savoring the moment.
After a while, Leon whispered in her ear, "Isabella, I swear on my life: I will never let you and our baby down!"
Hearing this, Isabella's heart naturally stirred.
Leon wasn't the type to make promises lightly, but when he did, he meant them.
In the two years they'd been together, Isabella knew he wasn't big on words, but his actions always spoke volumes. Everything he did showed how much he cared about her and their baby.
Hearing his vow, Isabella smiled. "You don't need to promise. Just remember what you said."
Leon lowered his head and kissed her neck, saying sincerely, "Isabella, I'm sorry, I..."
Isabella cut him off, "No need to apologize. It won't change anything. Since I've decided to face the future with you, the past is behind us."
Leon felt a surge of emotion and turned her to face him.
"Thank you," he said, his eyes serious.
Meeting his gaze, Isabella replied, "I accept your thanks, but I need more than that. We're in this together, and I need you to be all in. Help raise and educate our kid. We're counting on you, no slacking off!"
She playfully pinched his nose.
Leon grinned, showing his white teeth. "I swear I won't slack off or shirk my responsibilities!"
Seeing his determined look, Isabella smiled.
She leaned on his shoulder, stroking his chest. "I'm worried our baby might inherit schizophrenia, but worrying won't help. We just have to face it and live each day well."
Leon stroked her back, his chin resting on her forehead. "We'll face everything together. You're right; we need to cherish every day."
Isabella nodded firmly.
At that moment, Leon quietly reached into his pocket, pulled out a velvet box, and took out a diamond ring.
While Isabella wasn't paying attention, he slipped the ring onto her left ring finger.
Feeling something unusual, Isabella looked down and saw a large diamond ring, the same one she had knocked over in Northstar City.
Seeing her surprised look, Leon smiled. "You're wearing my ring now, so you're my wife. No backing out!"
Isabella raised her chin and asked, "Is this your proposal?"
"Yep, and you've already agreed," Leon replied.
"That's too shabby! You should at least give me a bouquet and kneel down, right?" Isabella teased.
"No problem, I'll go get flowers now." Leon turned to leave.
Realizing he was serious, Isabella grabbed his hand. "It's storming outside. Where are you going to get flowers?"
"No matter what, I'll get you those flowers!" Leon said, dead serious.
