Chapter 527 Anger
James got blindsided and took a slap right to the face, instantly clutching his cheek.
Right then, Susan stepped up and smacked Sophia, who was still in shock.
The sound of those two slaps echoed down the hallway, and Susan felt a rush of satisfaction.
She thought her beef with Sophia would end with Amelia's death, and with Seb covering James's bills every month, they could chill. But nope, they were greedy, ungrateful, and heartless!
Seeing who it was, James yelled, "You unfilial brat, how dare you hit me?"
"Yeah, who do you think you are? You dare hit your dad and stepmom, no less! It's outrageous!" Sophia added.
But today, Sophia wasn't as cocky because she saw Seb standing behind Susan, and maybe more folks were with them. She and James were outnumbered.
"Dad? You think you deserve that title?" Susan snapped at James.
Then, pointing at Sophia, Susan said, "Didn't Amelia just die? And here you are, all dolled up again. Can't you learn anything from Amelia's death? Because of you, Dominic died, and Amelia died too. Don't you feel any guilt? Aren't you scared their restless spirits will haunt you at night?"
Sophia felt a twinge of guilt but stubbornly said, "Dominic jumped off a building, seeking death, and Amelia got hit by a car, which was an accident. What does that have to do with me? Stop talking nonsense!"
"Dominic jumped because you drove a wedge between him and his son and tanked the company. Amelia ended up in a hopeless situation because she listened to you," Susan shot back.
"You're no saint either! You don't even acknowledge your own father and yet you come here to criticize me," Sophia yelled.
"If you two hadn't messed around back then, and you hadn't ditched my mom, why would I not acknowledge you? James, you're such a hypocrite. Just a few days ago, you were chasing after my mom, wanting to reconcile, and now you're back with Sophia so quickly," Susan said, her anger making her words sharp.
"James, what is she saying? Did you want to reconcile with Catherine, and when she refused, you came to me?" Sophia grabbed James by the collar, demanding answers.
"No, she's talking nonsense!" James tried to explain, but Sophia wasn't buying it.
Watching them tear into each other, Susan turned and pressed the elevator button, then pointed at James and said, "James, from now on, don't expect to get a single cent from me!"
Hearing this, Sophia immediately let go of James's collar.
James pointed at Susan and barked, "I'm telling you, I'm your father, and you gotta support me. The court will back me up!"
Susan just sneered. "Fine, let's see what the court has to say!"
"I can't believe you're living the good life while I, your father, have to suffer," James ranted, waving his arms around like a madman.
"Yeah, we'll see," Susan said as the elevator arrived. She turned and stepped in.
"If you don't give me money, I'll drink poison right at the entrance of Prosperity Group!" James shouted, thinking he could scare them.
Seb, who had just stepped into the elevator, turned around, his eyes cold as ice. "Go ahead. You're not the first to die at the entrance of Prosperity Group. We won't tolerate any threats. Starting today, I'm cutting off all your living expenses. We'll wait for the court's decision!"
"Seb, you..." James tried to rush forward, fuming.
But Seb hit the elevator button, and the doors closed, shutting out James's furious face.
As they walked out of the building, the sky started to darken, and the wind was biting. Susan pulled her coat tighter, but the real chill was in her heart.
Seeing Susan shiver, Seb frowned and pulled her into his arms.
At that moment, the usually tough Susan had red-rimmed eyes and choked up. "Seb, how did I end up with such a jerk father? He not only embarrasses me but also makes my life with anyone else unbearable."
Susan felt super guilty towards Seb. James was always causing trouble, and Seb was always caught up in her mess.
Seb smiled lightly. "My mom always gives you a hard time too. You don't blame me, and I won't blame you."
Hearing these comforting words, Susan smiled and took Seb's arm.
"We can't just ignore this, can we? We need to come up with a solution. James is a scoundrel, and with Sophia egging him on, he might really cause trouble at the entrance of Prosperity Group with poison," Susan said, worried.
Seb, however, was unfazed. "Don't worry. If he dares to come, let him drink it. If he really drinks it, I'll even admire him. At worst, I'll send him to the hospital. He's not stupid; drinking poison and surviving is extremely painful. He's just trying to cause trouble to force us to comply."
"Have you changed your attitude too?" Susan asked, looking at him.
Seb smirked disdainfully. "As you said, he's a scoundrel and insatiable. He's not worth pitying. Don't worry, I'll have Leon take care of everything."
Susan trusted Seb; she knew he could handle James.
"I never expected James to be back with Sophia. I really don't get their relationship," Susan said, shaking her head.
Seb laughed. "Maybe James truly loves Sophia?"
"Don't tarnish the word 'love,'" Susan laughed.
