Chapter 451 Jumping Off a Building

Seeing Seb's serious face, Susan knew better than to blow him off. He was crazy jealous, so she had to calm him down fast or she’d be in deep trouble.

Then, she put her hands on his shoulders and said, "I just went to the restroom, and when I came out, I bumped into George. He's an old friend, and I couldn't just ignore him, right?"

Seb wasn’t buying it. "If it was just a hello, why were his hands on your shoulders?"

Susan's eyes widened. "We chatted a bit after saying hi. He wished us well, and I wished him and Jessica well too. But when I mentioned Jessica, he got all emotional, saying they weren't a good match and were just making do. I told him relationships shouldn't be taken lightly, and if they were right for each other, they should stay together, and if not, they should end it. That's when he got more emotional, and I don't know how his hands ended up on my shoulders."

She was scared, not sure if Seb would buy her story, so she glanced at him.

To her dismay, he was staring at her with those sharp eyes, and she quickly looked down in fear.

Seb then asked, "If there's nothing going on, why are you so nervous that you can't even look me in the eye?"

Susan had no choice but to look him in the eye. "Who said I can't look you in the eye? I'm just nervous because I'm afraid you won't trust me. I care about you too much and don't want you to get the wrong idea!"

She pouted and lowered her head, placing her small hands on his chest.

Seeing her sad look, Seb's heart softened, and he lifted her chin, looking at her face.

"Who said I don't trust you? Just explain it to me properly. If I didn't trust you, I wouldn't have spoken up for you at the party," Seb said, his eyes deep and intense.

Susan's face lit up. "Really?"

Seb then said smugly, "I know you wouldn't be interested in any other guy but me."

Susan couldn't help but push him. "How can you be so full of yourself?"

Seb pulled her into his arms and said confidently, "Because no one is more right for you than me!"

"How do you know?" Susan's eyes met his.

Seb raised an eyebrow and whispered in her ear, "Because only I know the depths of your being."

Hearing this, Susan saw the mischievous look in Seb's eyes.

She instantly got his meaning, blushed, and tried to push him away. "You perv!"

He grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.

"What are you doing?" Susan exclaimed.

Seb smiled. "You know exactly what I'm doing."

"Let go of me!" Susan struggled.

"Still playing hard to get?" Seb's actions were smooth and swift.

"Get away," Susan's voice trailed off, fading into the night.

The next morning, the family of four gathered around the breakfast table.

Spring sat on Susan's lap, and Susan fed her spoonfuls of egg custard.

Hayden was munching away across the table, while Seb read the newspaper as he ate.

Just then, Kathy handed a stack of newspapers to Seb. "Mr. Anderson, the morning paper's here."

"Thanks," Seb nodded.

He picked up the paper and started flipping through it. Suddenly, he froze, staring at the page with a look of surprise.

"What’s up?" Susan noticed his change in expression and asked, frowning.

Seb looked at the paper again before folding it and handing it to Susan. "Dominic jumped off a building last night. He’s dead."

Susan was stunned!

"Jumped off a building? No way!" she said, shocked after a long pause.

Last night, she saw Dominic arguing with Sophia. He wasn’t a great guy, but he was alive and kicking, and now he was just gone?

Susan stood up and handed Spring to Mary, who continued feeding her.

She then sat down, took the newspaper, and opened it. Sure enough, half a page was dedicated to Dominic's suicide, complete with a photo of his body covered with a white cloth.

Seb said, "It’s not surprising. Dominic was a big shot once. He couldn’t handle the downfall. Lost his company, buried in debt, even his son turned his back on him. He had no hope left, so he ended it."

Susan fell silent. Wasn't James in the same boat as Dominic now? But James had never been successful; he was always a small fry, so he didn’t feel the same crash.

If Seb hadn’t given James money when he came to her company, he might’ve ended up like Dominic. In that sense, Seb’s actions weren’t entirely wrong.

Even though she had no feelings for James, if he died now, Susan would feel bad.

Plus, if James died, she and Catherine would have to handle the funeral. Since her grandfather passed away, her uncle had cut ties with James, and there was no one else to take care of it.

Seeing Susan lost in thought, Seb frowned and asked, "What’s wrong? Dominic’s death got you spooked?"

"No, it’s just... sudden," Susan replied, snapping back to reality.

"It’s getting late. Let’s head out after breakfast," Seb said, putting on his suit.

Susan silently put on her coat, grabbed her bag, and smiled at Hayden, who was still eating. "Hayden, finish up. Kathy will take you to preschool."

"Got it," Hayden nodded.

As they left the villa, Susan suddenly grabbed Seb’s arm, hesitating to speak.

"What’s up?" Seb noticed her unease.

"Has James been bothering you again?" Susan asked.
