Chapter 984 Sweetness
When Isabella heard that, she pouted and said, "What are you trying to say? You make it sound like I'm easy to fool."
Leon smiled, gently stroking her hair. "I'm just giving you a heads-up. Don't let anyone turn you against me."
"Don't worry, I won't!" Isabella said confidently.
Then she glanced at the velvet box on the bed holding her jewelry and asked, "What should I do with this?"
Leon thought for a moment. "Just put it in the safe for now. I'll figure out a good time to return it."
"Okay." Isabella nodded and got up to grab the box.
But Leon snatched it, tossed it onto the bedside table, and said, "We'll deal with it tomorrow. For now, let's get some sleep. I have somewhere to take you tomorrow."
"Where are we going?" Isabella asked, curious.
"You'll see," Leon said with a mysterious smile, helping her lie down.
Isabella didn't press further and closed her eyes. She was getting used to Leon's surprises.
The next morning, Isabella stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows on the thirtieth floor, taking in the view of Maple Valley. Even though she was used to surprises, she was still amazed.
Looking around the scenic apartment, she asked, "Why did you bring me here? Didn't you say you sold this place to a friend?"
After breakfast, Leon had brought her to the scenic apartment where he used to live.
When they were dating, Leon had brought her here and wanted her to move in with him. But she had refused, saying she was afraid of heights.
Leon smiled, putting his arm around her shoulder. "I bought it back."
"What?" Isabella was shocked.
"You said you liked this place, but I liked it too. If you hadn't lied about not liking it, I wouldn't have sold it," Leon said, playfully pinching her nose.
"It's your fault you didn't propose back then. You wanted me to move in without a commitment. What if you kicked me out one day? I'd be used to this luxury and feel a huge loss," Isabella said, holding her belly and speaking her mind.
Leon held her shoulders and said sincerely, "I'm sorry."
Seeing the guilt in his eyes, Isabella didn't want to dwell on the past. She smiled and said, "Instead of apologizing, why don't you just treat me and the baby better?"
"Of course, I'll treat you well, but I still need to apologize. I've made you suffer," Leon said, stepping forward to embrace her gently, like she was a precious treasure.
Feeling his warm embrace, Isabella smiled and said, "I see the furniture and curtains have changed. Did your friend take a big loss?"
Leon chuckled. "It's only been a few months. Even after deducting the cost of the furniture and curtains, he made a profit of $140,000. He's probably thrilled."
Hearing this, Isabella immediately asked, "What do you mean?"
"He said his wife loved this place too and didn't want to give it back. I had to bump up the price by $200,000 so he could buy her a diamond to make up for it. Only then did he agree to sell it back," Leon grumbled.
"What? No way, that's too much! You should return the apartment and get our money back," Isabella said urgently.
Seeing her anxious expression, Leon smiled. "We can't go back on our word."
"But that money could cover the rent for several of our stores for a year," Isabella pouted.
"As long as you like it, it's worth it," Leon said, hugging her shoulder lovingly.
Hearing this, Isabella smiled. Being pampered felt wonderful.
Leon pointed to the distant scenery. "We can watch the sunrise, sunset, and night view here."
Looking at the expansive view, Isabella was suddenly moved by his sincerity. He was willing to share all his hard-earned wealth and achievements with her, asking for nothing in return.
Isabella didn't know how to repay his deep affection, so she decided to devote herself entirely to him. From now on, her world would only have him, and they would always be together.
After a long gaze, Isabella suddenly frowned and screamed.
"What's wrong?" Leon asked, extremely worried, seeing her pained expression.
After a while, Isabella relaxed. "I feel like the baby inside me is a bit unsettled."
By this time, Leon had already helped her sit on the couch.
"We're going to the hospital right now!" Leon said, frowning.
"No need, I don't think it's anything serious. It's just that I feel a bit..." Isabella hesitated.
"Feel what?" Leon asked anxiously.
"It feels like it's really high here, and the baby is a bit scared looking down."
Isabella felt embarrassed saying this because she usually enjoyed high places. But today, she felt uneasy, probably because of the baby. Any slight insecurity made her anxious, which might be a mother's instinct to protect her kid.
Hearing this, Leon couldn't help but smile. "Then we'll stay in the other apartment. When the baby is a bit older, we'll come back."
At this moment, Isabella reached out and grabbed Leon's hand, saying guiltily, "Leon, I'm sorry."
Hearing this, Leon burst into laughter.
"Why are you laughing?" Isabella asked, puzzled.
"I didn't expect you to apologize and feel guilty," Leon said, touching her face with a smile.
Hearing this, Isabella was about to retort but then smiled and said playfully, "Of course I do. It's just that I rarely make mistakes or let people down."
Leon caressed her smooth face and looked at her with deep eyes. "I find that not only have you become gentler, but you're also more articulate."
"Is that a compliment?" Isabella asked, staring at Leon.
"What do you think?" Leon asked with a smile.
"I'll take it as a compliment."
Then, the two of them burst into laughter.
