Chapter 824 Confusing Right and Wrong

Hearing her words, Susan just rolled her eyes and said, "Seriously? You two haven't clicked in seven or eight years, and now, all of a sudden, you're head over heels in a few days?"

Ellie shot back with a smirk. "Susan, Seb and I have been a thing for ages. He only picked you because he felt bad for Hayden and Spring not having their real mom. We've always been together; you just didn't have a clue."

Susan knew Ellie was full of it, but it still stung. Every woman around Seb seemed to fall for him, especially the ones who'd do anything to get close.

Susan grinned and called Ellie out. "Ellie, cut the crap. I know about Seb's condition. He just forgot about me for now. He'll remember eventually. You should back off, and maybe I can convince Seb to let it slide."

Ellie was taken aback for a second, then burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" Susan's voice was icy.

Ellie stopped laughing and sneered, "Susan, you're so full of yourself. You think it's that easy to remember someone? Sure, Seb's got selective amnesia, but who knows what he's forgotten? All I know is, right now, he loves me, and I'm the one by his side. You should be the one to back off. Oh, and by the way, I'm Seb's fiancée now. We're getting married soon, and I'll be Hayden and Spring's mom. So, you better be nice to me. I can let you see the kids more, but piss me off, and you'll regret it."

Ellie stepped closer and jabbed Susan's shoulder with her finger.

Susan, fuming, shook her hand off.

Ellie's face darkened. "I'm telling you, Seb can't stand you right now. Don't push your luck. Even if you see him, it won't help."

With that, Ellie strutted away in her high heels.

Susan glared at Ellie's retreating figure, seething but helpless.

With Seb not wanting to see her, Susan ran her fingers through her hair, feeling lost and frustrated.

Back in the ward, Ellie found Seb waiting for her.

"Why aren't you resting?" Ellie asked, smiling as she walked over.

Seb reached out and took her hand. "Did you get rid of her?"

"Yeah," Ellie nodded.

"Sorry for the hassle," Seb said, looking apologetic.

Ellie sat beside him and patted his hand. "It's no big deal. She's Hayden and Spring's mom, after all. We'll have to deal with her, and we should think about the kids. We need to give Susan some respect."

"You're so understanding," Seb said, touching her face.

Ellie grinned and teased, "What can I say? I fell for a divorced guy."

Seb chuckled.

"Want me to get you some water?" Ellie asked eagerly.

"Okay," Seb nodded.

Ellie poured him a glass of water.

After Seb drank it, Ellie took the cup and started massaging him, working from his shoulders down to his arms, and then from his arms to his uninjured leg.

After a while, Ellie was sweating.

Seeing this, Seb gently wiped the sweat from her forehead with a handkerchief.

Ellie smiled at him, and Seb said softly, "You've been at it for over half an hour. Take a break."

"No way, the doctor said if you lie around too much, your muscles will waste away. I need to keep at it," Ellie insisted.

Seb frowned. "Why not hire a caregiver for the massages? You've been taking care of me day and night; it's too much for you."

Ellie had been looking after Seb meticulously for days, and he felt bad for her, thinking she was overdoing it.

Ellie smiled. "I wouldn't trust anyone else to take care of you."

Every time Seb suggested a caregiver, Ellie would say this, and he had no choice but to let her continue.

After another twenty minutes, Ellie finally stopped, and Seb quickly handed her a glass of water.

Ellie smiled, took it, and drank it all in one go.

Putting down the glass, Ellie saw the concern in Seb's eyes.

She sat in front of him, resting her head on his chest, and said softly, "You know, in a weird way, this hospital stay has been nice. I get to talk to you and take care of you. When did you ever have time for me before?"

Seb frowned and gently stroked her hair. "Did I not spend much time with you before?"

Ellie replied, "Of course, you were always working."

"I remember being busy with work every day, but I can't recall being with you," Seb paused and said.

Ellie's eyes darkened for a moment as she lay on his chest. She then looked up and said playfully, "How could you forget the great times we had together?"

Seeing Ellie seemed upset, Seb quickly explained, "I'm sorry, Ellie. I really can't remember. It's not just you; I can't remember anything about my ex-wife Susan either. I don't know why I can't remember any of this. No matter how hard I try, I can't remember!"

Ellie softened. "I'm not blaming you. It's just this car accident. But at least you weren't seriously hurt otherwise, which is a blessing in disguise."

"By the way, how did Susan and I split up?" Seb asked again.

Ellie explained, "Actually, your relationship with Susan started by chance."

"By chance?" Seb frowned.

"Yeah, many years ago, one night, you and Susan ended up at the same bar for a drink, and you ended up getting a room together," Ellie said, lowering her head and pretending to care deeply.

Seb frowned tightly, looking incredulous.
