Chapter 1094 Nothing Lasts Forever

At this moment, Daryl said, "My mom wanted me to come to the airport to pick you up. She was worried about you being a girl alone in a foreign country."

Hearing this, Skylar smiled and leaned her head on Daryl's shoulder. "I knew Mrs. Fields cares about me the most."

Daryl looked down at Skylar leaning on his shoulder, his eyebrows twitching slightly.

Skylar then hugged Daryl's arm and said playfully, "During the ten hours on the plane, I kept thinking about how surprised you'd be when I suddenly appeared in front of you. But now, it seems I didn't surprise you at all; instead, I surprised myself!"

Hearing this, Daryl smiled, looking at Skylar as if she were a little girl. "I was already surprised when my mom called me; you just didn't see it."

Hearing this, Skylar immediately lifted her head and asked, "Really? Were you really happy when you found out I was coming to Northstar City?"

Hearing this, Daryl hesitated for a moment and didn't answer. Instead, he changed the subject, "Let's check into the hotel first. You can rest and adjust to the time difference. Tomorrow, I'll take you to visit the fun places in Northstar City and taste the local food. This is a week's itinerary I had my secretary prepare. Take a look, and if there's anything you're not satisfied with, let Douglas know to change it."

After saying that, Daryl handed a document to Skylar.

Skylar reached out to take it and glanced at it. The itinerary was very detailed, specifying where to go and how long to stay. Skylar had no objections to the itinerary since she wasn't here for sightseeing but to see Daryl.

"I have no objections. Let's go with this itinerary. The main thing is you have to accompany me and not leave me with the secretary!" Skylar said coquettishly.

Hearing this, Daryl nodded and said, "Don't worry, I'll be with you the whole time."

Hearing this, Skylar was overjoyed and hugged Daryl's arm even tighter.

Then, Skylar suddenly asked, "Daryl, don't you have a villa in Northstar City? Why are we staying at a hotel?"

Hearing this, Daryl hesitated for a moment and then answered, "I also stay at a hotel near the company. The villa hasn't been lived in for a long time, and I haven't had anyone take care of it, so it's very dirty and messy. It's better if we stay at the hotel."

Hearing this, Skylar nodded. "Alright, I can stay anywhere as long as you're with me!"

Daryl looked down at Skylar and then remained silent.

Daryl had lunch with Skylar and then took her back to the hotel. Skylar pulled Daryl to chat for a long time before he left the hotel, reminding Skylar to rest and adjust to the time difference. He said he would come to pick her up for dinner at nine o'clock.

Around seven o'clock, Daryl returned to the villa.

At this time, Cecilia had just placed the dishes on the dining table. Seeing Daryl return, she smiled and said, "Dinner is ready."

"Okay." Daryl gave Cecilia a deep look and then turned to the bathroom to wash his hands.

A few minutes later, they sat at the dining table and began to eat dinner.

Daryl glanced at Cecilia before slowly picking up his utensils.

Seeing that Daryl hadn't taken any food for a long time, Cecilia smiled and said, "Eat up!"

"Well." Daryl forced a smile and then took a bite of the food.

Seeing Daryl take a bite, Cecilia eagerly asked, "How's the dish?"

"Not bad." Daryl was a bit absent-minded, his thoughts not on the food.

Daryl was usually stingy with compliments, so if he said the dish was not bad, it meant it was very good.

So, the next moment, Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief. "Then I'm relieved."

"The taste is very good," Hearing this, Daryl suddenly said.

"Really? It seems my cooking skills have improved." Cecilia's face lit up with a smile at the unexpected compliment.

Seeing Cecilia's happy expression, Daryl pulled at his lips and finally said what he wanted to say, "I have to go on a business trip tonight."

Hearing this suddenly, Cecilia stared at Daryl in surprise and asked, "Tonight? Why so sudden?"

Seeing Cecilia's surprised eyes, Daryl for the first time felt a bit afraid to meet her gaze.

Then, Daryl lowered his head and replied, "There's an issue at the branch office that needs my attention."

"The Cobblestone City branch?" Cecilia asked.

"Yes, Cobblestone City." Daryl nodded.

"How long will you be gone?" Cecilia asked.

Daryl lowered his head and thought for a moment, then said, "At least a week, maybe two, depending on the situation."

"Okay." Hearing this, Cecilia nodded.

Although she felt a lot of reluctance, work was important after all. One or two weeks wasn't a long time, but Cecilia felt a bit empty inside.

"Help me pack my things," Daryl suddenly said.

Hearing this, Cecilia quickly nodded. "Okay, what time are you leaving?"

"Douglas will pick me up at eight-thirty," Daryl replied.

Hearing this, Cecilia glanced at the clock on the wall and said, "It's already seven-thirty. I'll go upstairs and pack right away!"

After saying that, without waiting for Daryl to speak, Cecilia quickly got up and ran out of the dining room.

"Cecilia," Daryl called out in his heart as he watched Cecilia's back.

Daryl had never lied before. Today, when he told Cecilia he was going on a business trip, he couldn't even look her in the eye.

Maybe because he felt guilty, Daryl cleaned up all the leftovers before heading upstairs.

When Daryl reached the master bedroom door, he saw Cecilia standing in front of the wardrobe, folding clothes and placing them in the suitcase on the bed.

Seeing this scene, Daryl leaned against the door frame.

Not long after, Cecilia looked up and saw Daryl, asking, "I've packed everything. Is there anything else you need?"

Hearing this, Daryl stepped forward and pulled Cecilia into his arms.

Feeling the tight embrace, Cecilia suddenly felt a bit emotional.

She scolded herself in her head, 'He is only going away for a week or two, so why am I feeling so fragile?'

But Cecilia knew in her heart that they couldn't get together forever. They only had this one year, and half of that year had already passed.

As time went by, Cecilia felt that time was passing really quickly. She didn't want time to go by so fast because the faster it went, the sooner they would have to part ways.
