Chapter 993 Still Have to Wait Twelve Days
When Isabella felt like she was about to suffocate in his embrace, Leon finally let go of her lips, letting her catch her breath.
Ever since he showed up in Northstar City to patch things up with her, he hadn't been this intense.
Isabella looked up and met his fiery gaze, her face instantly turning red, like his eyes could set her on fire.
Noticing Milo was sound asleep on the bed, Leon leaned down to Isabella's ear and huskily asked, "Can we go to the next room for a bit?"
Isabella got what he meant right away.
Seeing the desire in his eyes, she leaned against his chest, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Seeing her uneasy look, Leon gently asked, "What's wrong?"
Isabella whispered, "When I was discharged, the doctor told me to wait six weeks after giving birth before, you know, getting busy."
Leon lowered his head and said, "Why didn't the doctor tell me that? I thought we could do it after a month."
Isabella shyly buried her face in Leon's neck.
Even though they'd done it plenty of times before, it had been over six months since the last time, and Isabella felt shy all over again.
"I'm sorry," Isabella mumbled in Leon's arms.
Leon cupped her face and kissed her forehead. "It's okay, I've waited this long; another twelve days won't kill me."
Isabella was touched by his understanding. She'd heard horror stories from colleagues about their partners pushing for sex without caring about their condition.
Feeling a bit awkward, Leon looked at the bracelet on her wrist and joked, "Did you give me this gift just to get me in bed?"
Leon smiled, let go of her shoulders, and pinched her cheek. "You owe me. I'll collect with interest in twelve days!"
"Then I'll give it back to you," Isabella said, pretending to take off the bracelet.
Leon grabbed her wrist firmly and said, "Too late, you've already accepted it."
"You're so bossy!" Isabella smiled, not really planning to give it back.
Leon stepped back, his eyes still locked on Isabella, his voice rough. "I'm gonna take a shower, or I might lose control."
Isabella's face turned even redder, and she quickly covered it with her hands.
Seeing her shy reaction, Leon laughed and headed to the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of running water filled the room.
Isabella leaned against the headboard, looking at the sleeping Milo, then at the gemstone bracelet on her wrist, unable to stop smiling.
He treated her like a princess, and Isabella felt so happy. She hoped this happiness would last forever.
Listening to the water, Isabella couldn't help but chuckle. He was definitely taking a cold shower.
A few days later, one evening, after putting Milo to sleep, Isabella walked out of the bedroom in her pajamas.
Suddenly, she noticed someone sitting on the living room couch.
Leon was slouched on the couch, his tie half undone, brows furrowed, eyes closed, looking completely wiped out.
Seeing Leon like this, Isabella was caught off guard.
Leon was usually full of energy and would head straight to the bedroom to see her and Milo as soon as he got home. But today, he seemed really tired and troubled.
Isabella quietly walked over to the couch and smoothed the furrow between Leon's brows.
Feeling Isabella's touch, Leon didn't open his eyes.
The next moment, Leon pulled Isabella's hand down, holding it in his palm.
Isabella sat beside him and softly asked, "When did you get back?"
"About 15 minutes ago," Leon replied.
"Are you really tired today?" Isabella asked, looking at Leon, who still had his eyes closed.
Leon shook his head.
"Then what's bothering you?" Isabella sensed something was wrong and felt worried.
Leon opened his eyes, his gaze melancholic, and said, "The hospital issued a critical condition notice for him."
"Who are you talking about?" Isabella immediately tensed up, not realizing who he meant.
Leon frowned and said, "This afternoon, someone from his side came to tell me that he wants to see Milo and me one last time."
Hearing this, Isabella immediately understood that Leon was talking about his father.
"How could it be so sudden?" Isabella asked, frowning.
Leon rubbed his face and said, "He was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago. His condition has gotten worse, and the doctors say he only has a few days left."
Isabella recalled the day Zane came to see her; he was indeed frail and looked very ill. Although he was only about sixty, he looked much older and weaker, having been suffering from a terminal illness.
"What are you going to do?" Isabella asked, looking at Leon.
After a long pause, Leon said, "I don't know."
Hearing this, Isabella placed her hand on his shoulder.
Isabella understood that it was difficult for Leon to make a decision. For so many years, his heart had been filled with hatred for his father. But now, with his father on the brink of death, all that hatred seemed to dissipate. However, forgiving him was still a challenge.
After a while, Isabella said, "Think it over carefully. After all, he doesn't have much time left, and he has shown remorse. It's best not to let him die with regrets, as it will be hard for you to live with that."
"Do you want me to take Milo to acknowledge him?" Leon's tone was a bit agitated.
Isabella calmly replied, "Milo is his grandson, and he deserves to see his grandfather one last time. As for you, whether you acknowledge him or not, at least be there to say goodbye. If you regret it later, you won't feel as guilty."
Hearing this, Leon turned to stare at Isabella, not speaking for a long time.
Isabella smiled slightly and said, "Take some time to think it over, at least don't let him leave with regrets."
