Chapter 78 Discharge
Seb informed Catherine and Dorothy, and they rushed to the hospital immediately. With their company, Susan felt a bit better, at least not as emotionally agitated, but she remained silent and depressed.
Susan was in the hospital for seven days, and soon it was time for her to leave.
Kathy packed up all the bags, and Isabella peeled an apple for Susan.
"Thanks," Susan said, taking the apple and nibbling on it absentmindedly.
Seeing it was almost time, Isabella frowned and asked, "Why isn't Seb here to pick you up?"
"He's probably busy," Susan replied with a forced smile on her pale face.
"No matter how busy he is, he should come to take you home. After all, you were hospitalized because of giving birth to his child," Isabella said, clearly annoyed.
Susan didn't respond and turned to Kathy, "Kathy, you take the stuff and grab a cab first. Isabella can take me home."
"Then I'll leave it to Miss Brown," Kathy smiled at Isabella and left with the bags.
"Seb is way out of line, isn't he? You're still his legitimate wife!" As soon as Kathy left, Isabella got even more outspoken.
"Just say less. I didn't let my mom come today because I didn't want her to worry about me. Seb and I were only together because of the baby. Now that the baby is gone, there's nothing left between us," Susan said lightly, though her heart was in turmoil.
Yeah, the only tie between her and Seb was gone. Seb would probably soon ask for a divorce, and his beloved Cynthia was eagerly waiting for him.
Isabella knew Susan was telling the truth. It was indeed the case. She could only swallow her anger and patted Susan's shoulder, comforting her, "It's good that you can see it this way. Now, don't think about anything else. The most important thing is to take care of your health. Health is the foundation of everything, you know?"
"I understand," Susan nodded.
Isabella helped Susan out of the ward. Before leaving the inpatient building, Isabella wrapped a thick scarf around Susan's head and adjusted her coat before letting her go outside.
As soon as they stepped out of the inpatient building, Cynthia suddenly walked towards them.
Seeing Cynthia, Susan didn't want to engage and pulled Isabella's hand to leave.
But Cynthia wouldn't let her go and stepped forward to block Susan's way.
"Mrs. Anderson, don't you recognize me?" Cynthia smiled broadly.
Seeing Cynthia's provocation, Susan couldn't ignore her and said, "How could I not remember Seb's ex-girlfriend, Cynthia?"
Cynthia must have known about her child's death and came here on purpose today. Otherwise, how could they coincidentally meet in such a big place like Maple Valley?
"I need to correct you. Seb and I are currently together. His love for me has never stopped," Cynthia said confidently, her eyes full of provocation towards Susan.
Although Susan knew very well that there was no future between her and Seb, Cynthia's words still hurt her.
"I'm not interested in your affairs, but I must remind you that I am still Seb's wife!" Susan said and tried to walk away.
Susan's message was clear: Cynthia's relationship with Seb was nothing more than an affair. As long as she hadn't divorced Seb, Cynthia's status couldn't be legitimate.
Cynthia wasn't about to let Susan off easily. She stepped in front of Susan again and sneered, "Seb hasn't dumped you yet because you just lost your child. Do you really think he cares about you? What a joke. If you had any sense, you'd ask for a divorce yourself to save face!"
Susan, still reeling from the loss of her child and physically weak, found arguing with Cynthia exhausting.
At this moment, Isabella finally realized who Cynthia was. She let go of Susan's arm and stepped forward to confront Cynthia.
"Are you Cynthia Phillips?"
"Who are you?" Cynthia looked Isabella up and down.
Without warning, Isabella slapped Cynthia across the face.
"How dare you hit me?" Cynthia asked, covering her burning cheek.
"Because you're a homewrecker, shamelessly seducing someone else's man, and you still have the nerve to act righteous? This world is really going downhill. A mistress can be so arrogant!" Isabella's loud voice drew the attention of passersby.
Cynthia felt humiliated and argued, "I'm not a mistress! Seb and I knew and loved each other first. When we were dating, she was nowhere to be found!"
Isabella sneered, "Who hasn't dated a few times? If that's the case, all the ex-girlfriends in the world could come and ruin families."
Cynthia, usually quick with a comeback, was at a loss for words against Isabella's fiery temper.
Then, Isabella put her hands on her hips and started shouting, "Everyone, come and see! This is the most shameless mistress of the year in Maple Valley, seducing someone else's man and ruining his family. And now, she's here to insult the wife who just got discharged from the hospital. Is there any justice left? This is outrageous!"
In no time, a crowd gathered, and many people looked at Cynthia with disdain and pointed at her.
Cynthia, touching her face and seeing so many people criticizing her, couldn't bear it and turned to leave.
At that moment, two men in black coats walked up the steps.
Susan suddenly saw Seb and was stunned!
During her seven days in the hospital, Seb had only visited her once when she woke up. She hadn't seen him since.
Not expecting Seb to pick her up, she was surprised. His stern face, accentuated by a black coat, made him stand out in the bustling crowd.
Seeing Seb, Cynthia immediately ran into his arms and complained, "Seb, you're finally here. Look, they hit me!"
Cynthia's face clearly had five finger marks. Seb frowned slightly and gently pushed her away.
"What are you doing here?" Seb asked with a hint of reproach in his voice.
"I heard Susan was being discharged today, so I came to see her. Who knew they wouldn't appreciate my kindness and even hit me," Cynthia said, already crying.
