Chapter 525 Anxiety
Upon hearing Rylee's words, Andrew said, "That's their business. Why are you sticking your nose in it?"
"But it's my mom and my brother and sister-in-law, not just some random people!" Rylee shot back.
Andrew couldn't help but look at Rylee and said, "Why are you so clueless?"
"How am I clueless?" Rylee stared at Andrew, totally baffled.
Andrew glanced at the innocent Rylee, then suddenly grabbed her hand and said very patiently, "Rylee, I'm not trying to start drama between you and them, but think about it. If Mom hands all that cash to Seb, and Susan can't stand Mom, do you really think they'll take good care of her down the line?"
Hearing this, Rylee's eyes flickered, and she said worriedly, "I trust Seb, and Susan doesn't seem like a bad person."
"Mom's kinda bossy and doesn't cut Susan any slack, but Susan keeps talking back to Mom. She should remember she's just a regular girl. It's her honor to marry Seb and became the CEO's wife of Prosperity Group." Andrew said.
Hearing this, Rylee was speechless, her brows furrowed tightly, looking super worried.
At this moment, Andrew said, "Rylee, you're also Mom's kid. Even though you're a daughter, in today's world, sons and daughters are equal. Both have inheritance rights and the duty to support their parents."
"You mean I should compete with Seb for Mom and Dad's assets?" Rylee squinted her eyes and asked.
Andrew's eyes flashed, and he quickly clarified, "I don't mean that, but if Mom and Dad want to give you shares or real estate, don't be dumb and refuse everything. Think about our future kids. Don't you want to give them the best life? And just in case Seb and Susan don't take care of Mom and Dad, you'll have the money to support them, right?"
Hearing this, Rylee lowered her head and thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "You're right. Even if I don't think about myself, I should consider the kids and Mom and Dad."
"Exactly." Seeing that Rylee understood, Andrew nodded happily.
"My dad used to be a high-ranking official in the state, but he was always clean-handed, just living on his salary. The family's group and real estate are all in my mom's hands. If she doesn't want to give them to me, I can't just ask for them, can I? It's just too embarrassing," Rylee said, troubled.
"I'm not saying you should ask. Just keep it in mind. I'm about to start working, and the salary of the Vice President of Prosperity Group won't be low. I'll take care of you." With that, Andrew put his arm around Rylee's shoulder.
"Andrew, I knew I didn't misjudge you." Rylee smiled and snuggled into Andrew's arms.
Andrew then whispered in her ear, "How about we get it on right now?"
"Get away, I'm not ready yet." Rylee shyly pushed Andrew away.
But Andrew flipped over and pinned her down. "I'm always ready. You don't need to prep anything!"
Meanwhile, Susan stormed out of the hotel, trying to hail a cab when someone suddenly grabbed her arm.
Susan turned around to see a concerned face with furrowed brows.
"Why did you follow me out? Your mom's gonna be pissed," Susan said dejectedly to Seb.
Seb sighed helplessly, then pulled her into his arms and said softly, "If she's pissed, so be it. I can't just leave my wife hanging."
Hearing this, Susan met his gaze and saw no anger in his eyes. She couldn't help but ask, "You're not mad at me for arguing with your mom?"
"I know right from wrong. Mom was out of line this time. She went too far," Seb said bluntly.
Hearing this, Susan felt all her grievances melt away.
After all, Carol was Seb's mother. It was enough that he could say a fair word in front of her. Could she expect him to take her side completely? Susan felt helpless.
Seeing Susan's low spirits, Seb suggested, "How about we take a walk?"
"Okay." Susan nodded.
Then, Seb and Susan walked side by side along a quiet road.
Neither of them spoke, probably not knowing where to start.
After a long while, Susan broke the silence first. "Seb, do you think I'm always causing you trouble? I've never been able to help you with anything. I really feel useless."
Hearing this, Seb stopped, held her shoulders, and said seriously, "How could you be useless? You gave me Hayden and Spring, two adorable kids. That's the greatest achievement."
"Any woman can have kids. How is that an achievement?" Susan couldn't help but say.
"Well, if you didn't have them for me, I couldn't have them myself," Seb said, spreading his hands.
Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but laugh.
Seeing her laugh, Seb also grinned, and the atmosphere immediately lightened.
"You're still joking with me at a time like this!" Susan then playfully hit him.
"As long as you're smiling, it's all good." Seb then pulled Susan into his arms.
In the winter, although the sun was warm, the wind was still cold. Nestled in his arms, Susan felt both warm and safe. She closed her eyes, not wanting to think about anything, quietly enjoying this moment of peace.
After a long time, Susan opened her eyes, and Seb looked down at her and asked, "How do you want to handle the situation with James?"
Hearing this, Susan said firmly, "First of all, I will never cut ties with my mom, not even if I die!"
"I understand that. No one will force you to do that, and I won't agree to it. I'm asking about James," Seb nodded.
At this point, Susan also said decisively, "Since James has made such unreasonable demands, I don't want to deal with him anymore. I'm really fed up. From today on, stop his living expenses. Let him make a fuss if he wants. We'll wait for the court's decision."
