Chapter 1150 Avoiding and Not Meeting

In the dim afternoon light, Daryl walked through the apartment door.

"Mr. Fields, you're here?" Freya exclaimed with delight upon seeing Daryl.

Daryl's face lacked its usual confidence. He looked towards the master bedroom door and asked, "What is Cecilia doing?"

"Ms. Thorne went out for a walk," Freya replied.

Hearing this, Daryl frowned.

Freya quickly added, "Mr. Fields, I'll call Ms. Thorne right away and ask her to come back."

Daryl didn't respond, which Freya took as consent.

Daryl then walked towards the master bedroom.

Freya hurried to call Cecilia.

"Hello?" Cecilia, who was watching the river flow by, answered when she saw it was Freya calling.

"Ms. Thorne, Mr. Fields is here. Please come back quickly!" Freya said in a low voice.

Cecilia was stunned for a moment upon hearing this.

The next moment, Cecilia frowned and said, "Freya, are you joking with me? How could he be here?"

"It's true, Ms. Thorne. Mr. Fields seems to be in a low mood. Please come back quickly," Freya said before hanging up.

Staring at the flashing screen of her phone, Cecilia was utterly confused about Daryl.

She thought, 'He's getting married to his beloved Skylar tomorrow. Why would he come to see me now? He must be worried about his kid, right?'

After a bitter smile, Cecilia didn't rush back. Instead, she continued to stroll slowly along the riverbank, her eyes fixed on the distant sunset.

Daryl sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes gazing at the sunset outside the floor-to-ceiling window, his brows tightly furrowed.

In fact, with the wedding tomorrow, there were many things to do tonight, but Daryl came here.

He just wanted to see Cecilia. Without other thoughts, he just felt uneasy not seeing her for so many days.

Daryl waited for Cecilia for more than half an hour. As night began to fall outside, Cecilia still hadn't returned.

Daryl slowly stood up, deciding not to wait any longer.

Actually, she might not want to see him. If she did, she would have come back by now, because Freya had already called her.

With a hint of disappointment, Daryl turned to leave.

As he turned, Daryl's peripheral vision caught sight of a rather delicate notebook on the bedside table.

He had never seen this before. With a touch of curiosity, Daryl took a couple of steps forward and picked up the notebook.

Opening the first page, he saw a signature. He knew this handwriting was Cecilia's.

The front page also had a sentence written on it: [I want to remember those beautiful moments and hope they become everlasting memories.]

Seeing this line, Daryl immediately understood that this must be a diary.

At this moment, Daryl frowned, realizing reading someone else's diary without permission was an invasion of privacy.

He was a well-educated man and wouldn't do such a thing.

Daryl intended to put the diary back, but his hand froze.

The owner of this diary was someone he wanted to understand, someone he had mixed feelings for.

After hesitating for a while, Daryl sat back on the bed and opened the first page of the diary.

Night had already fallen outside. Under the light, Daryl quickly flipped through the diary, his frown deepening with each page.

By the end, Daryl's hand trembled, almost dropping the diary to the floor.

Daryl's eyes were filled with disbelief. He had misunderstood Cecilia.

The diary recorded Cecilia's journey of meeting, knowing, and loving him, detailing her emotional struggles, sadness, confusion, and despair, all of which were heart-wrenching.

Daryl never imagined that Cecilia had broken up with him to find a wealthy man for the sake of her family. The $104,000 she took from him was to buy a house for Quentin to get married. Cecilia's life had been filled with hardships since childhood, which made Daryl's heart ache.

Daryl stood by the window and smoke two cigarettes, his eyes fixed on the diary, his emotions surging.

Not long after, Daryl put the diary into his suit pocket and then left the master bedroom.

Seeing Daryl come out, Freya, who had prepared dinner, approached and explained, "Mr. Fields, Ms. Thorne answered the call but hasn't come back yet. I'll urge her again. I've made dinner for you two."

Daryl replied, "No need. I have other matters to attend to. Take good care of Cecilia."

With that, Daryl left.

"Mr. Fields," Freya wanted to say more, but Daryl had already walked out the door.

Cecilia didn't return until almost 8 PM.

As soon as Cecilia walked in, Freya hurried up to her and said anxiously, "Ms. Thorne, where have you been? Mr. Fields waited for you for a long time and left because he couldn't wait any longer."

Hearing this, Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief. On the way back, she had been wondering if Daryl had left.

"Let him leave then," Cecilia said weakly and turned to her bedroom.

Sensing Cecilia's bad mood, Freya didn't dare to say more.

After wandering outside for two hours, Cecilia leaned wearily against the headboard.

After a while of random thoughts, her eyes glanced at the bedside table and suddenly noticed her diary was missing.

Since moving to a foreign country, Cecilia had developed the habit of keeping a diary, both to improve her writing skills and to express her loneliness.

Since moving into this apartment, Cecilia had been bored, so she took out her diary to write down her feelings.

Without seeing her diary, Cecilia searched the room but couldn't find it.

The next moment, Cecilia hurried out of the bedroom and called, "Freya!"

"Ms. Thorne, what's wrong?" Hearing Cecilia's urgent call, Freya ran over, her plump body moving quickly.

"Did you see the diary I left on the bedside table?" Cecilia asked anxiously, pointing towards the room.

Freya paused for a moment before replying, "No, I didn't. I never move your things except to clean. I always put them back where they were."

Hearing this, Cecilia muttered to herself, "It couldn't have disappeared for no reason, could it?"

At this point, Cecilia suddenly remembered something.

"Did he go into the master bedroom earlier?" Cecilia asked Freya urgently.
