Chapter 886 This Is a Matter Between Men
As soon as Susan walked into the living room, she spotted a tall, slender figure.
He was rocking a sky-blue shirt and white pants, standing as straight as ever.
"Susan, I told you we'd meet again soon." Hugo's face lit up with a smile as he handed her a bouquet of tulips.
Susan was so shocked to see Hugo that she didn't know what to do. She glanced towards the dining room, feeling really torn.
Logically, she should be more excited to see a friend who had always been so good to her, but Seb was still sitting in the dining room. Seb was already feeling upset, and if he saw Hugo, he'd definitely be on edge.
Susan took the flowers from Hugo, looking down at the blooming tulips, which reminded her of the wonderful days spent at the castle.
"These are tulips I brought back from Zandoria. I was worried they wouldn't wilt, so I brought them to you as soon as I got off the plane." Hugo smiled as he saw Susan admiring the flowers.
Hearing this, Susan felt a wave of emotion and looked up with a smile. "Thanks, Hugo."
The next moment, Hugo looked at Susan and said, "Susan, I've missed you so much these past few days, so I bought a plane ticket and flew over!"
Upon hearing this, Susan furrowed her brows.
Just then, a tall figure walked into the living room, radiating hostility.
"Hugo, long time no see!" Seb stepped forward and stood in front of Hugo.
Hugo was taken aback, then said, "Seb, you're in Northstar City too?"
Noticing Hugo's surprise, Seb stepped forward and put his arm around Susan's shoulder, smiling. "I'm here to see my family."
Seeing Seb's arm around Susan, Hugo was momentarily stunned, then looked at Seb in confusion and asked, "Seb, didn't you marry someone else? Why are you still looking for Susan?"
After saying this, Hugo stepped forward and pushed Seb, pointing at him excitedly. "If you dare to hurt Susan again, I won't stand for it!"
Being pushed by Hugo, Seb was particularly furious and stepped forward to punch Hugo in the face.
"Susan is my woman. I'm warning you, stay away from her!" Seb shouted angrily at Hugo.
Hugo wiped the corner of his mouth with his hand, seeing a bit of blood, and his blue eyes filled with anger.
Seeing the two about to fight, Susan quickly stopped Hugo from retaliating. "Hugo, I'm sorry. I apologize on his behalf. Let me take you to the doctor!"
Sensing Susan's concern, Hugo looked deeply at her, the anger in his blue eyes gradually fading.
"Susan, I won't fight Seb in front of you," Hugo said gently to Susan.
Seeing Hugo like this, Susan furrowed her brows, feeling very guilty seeing the blood at the corner of his mouth.
However, at this moment, in Seb's eyes, Hugo and Susan were exchanging affectionate glances.
"Susan!" Seb shouted angrily.
Susan turned to look at Seb, who then shouted, "Come here!"
Susan knew Seb was angry and that if she didn't go over, he would soon explode with rage.
Susan took a couple of steps back, standing in front of Seb.
Seb, feeling pretty smug, boasted to Hugo, "See? She's my woman and only listens to me. You better not get any ideas about her!"
Hugo, though, wasn't fazed by Seb's warning. "Seb, you abandoned Susan. Do you think you can just call the shots? Have you ever thought about her feelings?"
Hearing Hugo's words, Susan's eyes started to well up.
She knew Hugo meant well, but she couldn't repay him. Susan felt really guilty but couldn't do anything because she knew she couldn't give him hope, nor could she let Seb misunderstand, or things would get worse.
Susan looked at Hugo and said, "Hugo, listen to me, go back. Don't come looking for me anymore because Seb and I have reconciled."
Hearing this, Hugo was stunned, then bitterly said, "Susan, have you forgotten how he hurt you? Didn't he marry someone else? Why are you still with him now?"
"I..." Susan was about to say something.
Seb suddenly pushed Susan aside, stepped up to Hugo, and grabbed his collar. "It's none of your business."
Hugo didn't fight back. Instead, he raised his chin, his blue eyes filled with contempt as he stared at Seb. "We have an ancient tradition in Zandoria. If two men fall in love with the same woman, they settle it with a duel."
Hearing his words, Susan immediately furrowed her brows. 'How did it suddenly come to a duel? I have nothing to do with Hugo, okay?'
But at this moment, Susan saw the determination in Hugo's eyes, and Seb's eyes were even more furious.
"Hugo!" Susan called out to Hugo, trying to stop him.
Seb, however, coldly said, "Fine, let's settle it with a duel!"
Hearing that Seb actually accepted Hugo's absurd proposal, Susan nervously stepped forward to separate them. "What nonsense are you talking about? Duels are from the old days. This is a society governed by law. Don't do anything rash!"
"This is a matter between men!" Seb and Hugo said in unison.
At this moment, they were surprisingly in agreement.
"Come with me!" Seb released Hugo's collar and walked out first.
Hugo then turned and followed Seb.
Seeing them leave, Susan anxiously wanted to chase after them.
At this moment, Isabella quickly stepped forward to stop Susan. "Susan, don't chase them. You can't stop them."
"But they're going to fight to the death," Susan said anxiously.
Isabella said, "Don't worry. They're both adults. They know their limits. If you go to persuade them, it will only make things worse. Didn't you see Seb was angry? If you go, it will only add fuel to the fire!"
Hearing Isabella's words, Susan thought it made sense, but she was still very worried.
"Be patient and wait. Seb will be back soon," Isabella comforted Susan.
With no other choice, Susan could only sit on the couch and wait.
She waited for several hours, during which she made several phone calls, but no one answered. The longer she waited, the more anxious she became.
