Chapter 350 Showing Off

Susan wasn't really into the fancy villa or all its posh stuff. What she loved were the days hanging out with Hayden and Spring.

Just then, her phone buzzed on the table.

She picked it up, saw an unknown number, and shrugged. Whatever, she answered it. "Hello!"

"Susan, it's Linda." Linda's voice came through.

Susan was caught off guard!

Linda was technically her boss, but not her direct one. They were on different levels. Why was Linda calling her? Was it about Seb?

Did Linda know she was crashing at Seb's place and was pissed about it?

Susan felt a knot in her stomach.

After a long pause, Linda asked, "Susan, you there?"

"Yeah, Linda. What's up?" Susan quickly replied.

Linda chuckled, "Yeah, the whole Skyreach Group budget leak thing? It's sorted. You were cleared. You can come back to work tomorrow."

Susan was floored!

The case was solved, and she was off the hook?

She urgently asked, "Wait, what? Everything's been cleared up?"

"Didn't Seb tell you?" Linda sounded surprised.

"Tell me what?" Susan was totally clueless.

Linda laughed, "Susan, it's too much to explain over the phone. Just come in tomorrow, and we'll go over everything."

"Alright," Susan nodded.

"See you tomorrow." Linda hung up.

Susan sat at the dining table, staring into space. It wasn't until Spring, who was in her arms, knocked a plate to the floor, shattering it, that she snapped out of it.

"Oh no, what are you doing?" Susan scolded Spring, but she was smiling.

At least her name was cleared, and she wasn't going to jail. That was something to be happy about.

"Mommy." Spring looked scared, her face pale, and her big round eyes stared at Susan, calling softly.

Susan smiled, picked up Spring, kissed her cheek, and comforted her, "It's okay, baby. Don't be scared. I'm not mad."

That night, Susan waited half the night, but Seb didn't come back.

She knew he wouldn't, but she knew that Seb must've handled everything. She felt grateful to him, even though she knew she owed him big time.

The next morning, Susan was in Linda's office.

Linda looked all glowy, and there was a big crystal vase with fresh red roses and lilies on her desk.

Seeing the flowers, Susan felt a bit uneasy. They had to be from Seb, right?

Linda, sitting in her chair, followed Susan's gaze to the roses and blushed, smiling. "Aren't they gorgeous?"

"Yeah," Susan nodded, trying to keep it cool.

"Seb sends me a bouquet every day. It's almost embarrassing," Linda said, blushing but clearly loving it.

Susan wasn't sure if Linda was showing off or what, so she just kept quiet.

Linda then got serious and said, "Susan, starting today, you're back on the team. You've been through a lot, and your work is top-notch. So, after Paula left, the company decided to make you the project manager of Group Six, effective immediately. We hope you can lead Group Six to some big wins!"

Susan was floored. How did everything clear up so fast, and now she was getting promoted? It was nuts.

She frowned and asked, "Linda, where did Paula go? I need to know how all this happened so suddenly."

Linda smiled and playfully complained, "Seb is something else. He didn't tell you about this big deal, leaving you in the dark."

Susan could tell Linda was showing off her thing with Seb. The message was clear that Seb didn't care about Susan anymore, or he would've told her.

But Susan wasn't about to get into it with Linda. She and Seb were done, and whoever he was with now was none of her business.

Even though she thought that way, facing Linda still felt like a rock on her chest.

Linda, having said her piece, smiled and said, "Your case has been fully investigated. Paula and Elliott were selling Skyreach Group's info to a competitor and framed you. Now that the truth is out, Paula and Elliott are with the police. Our company is really bummed about this because Paula was a valued employee. So, the company fired them both. Even if they don't go to jail, they can't work in our industry anymore!"

Susan was naturally thrilled.

Paula and Elliott got what they deserved, and her name was cleared. But somehow, she just couldn't feel happy.

"Susan, do your best from now on. I won't treat you unfairly. I believe you can lead Group Six to success," Linda said warmly.

"Thanks, Linda. I will," Susan nodded.

Even though Linda was flaunting her thing with Seb and had successfully annoyed Susan, she wasn't going to lose her cool. If Linda wanted to show off, fine. Linda and Seb's relationship was their business, not hers.

"Don't mention it. Seb asked me to look out for you, so I will," Linda smiled.

"Alright, I'll get to work," Susan said, not wanting to stick around any longer, and left Linda's office.
