Chapter 881 Reconciliation
By the time night had fully set in, with moonlight and streetlights streaming through the window, Susan finally lifted her head from Seb's embrace.
"Darn it!" Susan muttered, clearly annoyed.
"What's up?" Seb asked, touching her cheek with a frown.
"I promised to cook a big meal for everyone tonight. Now it's pitch dark, and I'm still here messing around with you," Susan said, looking around for her clothes.
Seb chuckled and hugged her tighter. "Kathy's got it covered."
"But I told Kathy I'd handle dinner tonight. Isabella and Cecilia are probably downstairs waiting for me," Susan said, frustrated.
Seb grinned and said, "I asked Kathy to cook when I got here."
Susan looked at Seb in the dim light, realization dawning on her. "You planned this, didn't you?"
Seb's fingers traced her smooth skin as he replied, "I imagined a lot of ways we'd meet again during that long flight, but I didn't expect to find you carrying a basket of groceries."
Susan shot him a look. "You're such a jerk. You remembered me but didn't even call before coming to Northstar City. Then you pretended to go grocery shopping with me before telling me you remembered. You deserve a beating!"
With that, she started playfully punching his chest.
Seb just smiled at her, letting her fists land harmlessly.
After a while, Susan, already tired, realized her punches were just tickling him.
Seb's deep smile made her even more annoyed. "What are you smiling at?"
He pulled her into his arms, stroking her back. "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have forgotten you. You have every right to hit and scold me. From now on, I won't fight back or talk back, as long as it makes you feel better. I didn't tell you right away that I remembered because I had so much to say to you, and I needed to say it in person. I was afraid I'd mess it up over the phone and make you worry. As for going grocery shopping with you, I just found you too adorable and wanted to see more of it. But I also know you'll never escape my grasp in this lifetime!"
Susan immediately spat at him. "You want to control me for life? Dream on!"
Seb just kept smiling. "I'll let you know whether I can."
With that, he flipped her over and pinned her beneath him.
Just as things were about to heat up again, there was a knock on the door.
Seb froze, and Susan looked at the door in horror, shouting, "Who is it?"
A young voice came from outside. "Daddy, Mommy, Kathy asked me to call you for dinner!"
Hearing Hayden's voice, Susan breathed a sigh of relief, while Seb lay on the bed, looking frustrated.
"Got it, you go down first, we'll be right there!" Susan shouted towards the door.
"Okay. Hurry up, Spring and I are starving, and Isabella's baby is hungry too!" Hayden said with a hint of impatience.
As Hayden's footsteps faded away, Susan finally felt relieved.
Seb, however, lay on the pillow, weakly saying, "This little rascal is gonna be the death of my sex drive, I swear!"
Susan couldn't help but laugh.
"You're laughing?" Seb glared at her, pouting. "If I have a sexual dysfunction, I won't be able to satisfy you."
"I don't mind, at least you won't be flirting around!" Susan said gleefully.
With that, she got out of bed and started getting dressed.
Seb didn't say anything this time, just watched her with a look of guilt in his eyes.
Not hearing any teasing from him for a while, Susan looked up to see Seb gazing at her with that guilty expression.
This side of Seb was rare, so Susan was startled and touched his head, asking, "What's wrong? Why aren't you talking?"
Seb reached out and held her hand. "I'm sorry."
Their eyes met, and Susan understood why he was apologizing.
She said understandingly, "I know this wasn't entirely your fault, but from now on, you need to keep your distance from any woman."
Seb grinned, showing his white teeth. "I promise, from now on, I'll keep at least 9 feet away from any female creature!"
Susan smiled. "You said it, you have to stick to it!"
"Absolutely," Seb replied with a smile.
"Hurry up, they're all waiting for us!" Susan said, throwing Seb's clothes, which were scattered around, in front of him.
Seb smiled as he dressed, feeling very happy.
Susan didn't want to keep everyone waiting, so she quickly got ready to leave.
But as she grabbed the doorknob, Seb caught her wrist.
"Stop it, it's not good to keep everyone waiting. Besides, they probably know what we were doing in the room..." Susan blushed and stopped talking, lowering her head.
