Chapter 839 Deliberate Difficulties

The waitress didn't want to take it, thinking Susan was in a tough spot too. She not only handed Susan her uniform but also gave her a heads-up on what to watch out for in the club.

Thanks to that waitress, Susan managed to sneak into the club that afternoon.

She found the bowling alley pretty quickly and zeroed in on the VIP room Seb had booked.

"Who are you? I haven't seen you around," a young guy in a black uniform called out as soon as Susan slipped into the VIP room.

Susan looked up and was caught off guard.

Luckily, she was ready for this. The waitress had mentioned the bowling alley was run by a manager named Cameron Simmons. Spotting his name tag, she flashed a smile and said, "Mr. Simmons, right? I'm new here. Just started today."

"New? One waitress left today, and they already hired someone new?" Cameron frowned.

"Yeah, the general manager recommended me," Susan quickly added.

Hearing that, Cameron's attitude softened, and he said, "Two VIPs are coming soon. Make sure you take good care of them, got it?"

"Got it," Susan nodded quickly.

"Are you sure you can handle it? Maybe I should call someone with more experience," Cameron said, still unsure.

"No need, I've worked in places like this before. I can handle it," Susan assured him.

"Alright then, get ready to welcome the guests," Cameron said before leaving.

Once he was gone, Susan got familiar with the room, checking out where everything was, like the tea and other stuff.

Soon, it was 2 o'clock. The door opened, and someone announced, "The VIPs have arrived!"

Susan's heart skipped a beat.

Seb and a slightly overweight middle-aged man walked in.

Susan didn't have time to see Seb's face and quickly stood aside, head down, to greet them.

"Mr. Anderson, your injury just healed. If I win today, wouldn't it be an unfair victory?" the middle-aged man laughed.

Seb smirked, "Mr. Murray, it's still up in the air who will win or lose!"

"Well, I admire your confidence and competitive spirit," Marc Murray said, patting Seb on the shoulder.

Standing behind Seb, Susan sneaked a glance at him. He wasn't using a cane anymore, and though he walked slowly, he was steady.

His leg seemed to have healed, and Susan felt a wave of happiness.

She smiled to herself, but Marc noticed and said, "This waitress doesn't even know to serve us tea."

Susan silently cursed herself for being careless and quickly went to make tea.

Seb hadn't looked at her, so he didn't notice her yet.

Soon, Seb and Marc started their game.

After one round, Marc had a slight lead.

Marc laughed heartily and said, "Mr. Anderson, best two out of three, right? It's still early. How about we sit down for some tea and chat before the next game?"

"Sure thing," Seb nodded.

By now, Susan had already set the tea on the coffee table.

Seb took a sip and, glancing up, saw a familiar face.

Seeing Susan in a black waitress uniform, Seb frowned, a bit stunned. This was a top-tier private club, not a place she could just waltz into.

Realizing Seb had finally noticed her, Susan knew there was no point in being scared now.

She made a funny face at Seb.

Seb's brows furrowed in anger.

He slammed the teacup on the table. "What kind of top-tier club is this? Feels like they're just ripping us off. This tea is awful!"

Marc sniffed the tea and laughed. "This tea's fine, Mr. Anderson. I think you're just in a bad mood. This isn't like you; you used to be so calm!"

Seb's face stayed grim, and he didn't respond, making things a bit tense.

"I'll make a new batch," Susan quickly said, heading off to make more tea.

Meanwhile, Seb and Marc started their second game.

This time, Seb quickly beat Marc.

Susan refilled their tea.

Seb and Marc sat down again.

Susan kept her eyes on Seb, worried he might complain again. If he did and called Cameron, everything would be blown.

Luckily, Seb didn't complain this time, meaning he was okay with the tea.

Just as Susan sighed in relief, Seb's voice cut through the air. "These balls have oil stains on them, making my hands slip. Clean them now!"

Susan froze.

"Didn't you hear me?" Seb said sternly.

Susan grabbed a towel and knelt to wipe the oil stains off the bowling balls one by one.

Seb sipped his tea, eyes fixed on Susan.

Marc glanced at Seb's grim face and laughed. "Mr. Anderson, you're not yourself today. This could mess with your game!"

Seb coldly laughed. "Mr. Murray, you don't get it. The worse my mood, the better I play."

"Then the next game will be the decider," Marc reminded.

Seb nodded confidently and smiled.

Seeing Susan would take a while to clean the balls, Marc stood up. "Mr. Anderson, I'll make a couple of calls. Be back soon."

"Go ahead, Mr. Murray," Seb nodded.

After Marc left, Seb crossed his legs and looked disdainfully at Susan, who was still cleaning the balls. With cold sarcasm, he said, "Never thought I'd see you working as a waitress here. Is this a coincidence or on purpose? If the alimony and properties I gave you aren't enough, just ask. I've always been generous to my exes."
