Chapter 199 Finding a Wealthy Man

Amelia's words got everyone talking.

George was fuming. He pointed at Amelia and said, "Amelia, you need to apologize to Susan right now!"

"And if I don't? Go ahead, sue me. Let everyone see how far you'll go for a divorced woman!" Amelia shot back, unfazed.

"Suing you would be beneath me. I don't hit women, but today might be an exception!" George snapped, stepping forward.

Susan quickly pulled him back. "Mr. Anderson, don't!"

George was a top lawyer in Maple Valley. Hitting a woman in public would ruin his reputation.

Seeing George serious, Amelia stepped back and yelled, "He's hitting me! The lawyer's hitting me!"

The café manager and security guards started to gather.

Susan felt a mix of headache and guilt, not wanting to drag George into more trouble.

Just then, a handsome man in a sky-blue suit walked over. He took Amelia's hand and asked, "What's going on?"

Seeing Ethan Robinson, Amelia turned on the tears. "Mr. Robinson, someone bumped into me and ruined the dress you gave me!"

Ethan looked at the coffee stain on her pink dress and smiled. "It's just a dress. I'll get you another one."

"But they were awful. They refused to pay for it and even threatened to hit me!" Amelia pointed at George and Susan.

Susan sized up Ethan. He looked under thirty, with a warm demeanor. His custom Armani suit screamed wealth.

Hearing Amelia say the dress was a gift from Ethan, it seemed she had indeed found a rich guy this time.

Usually, Amelia's style was flashy. No wonder she looked so fresh and elegant today, with light makeup and upscale clothes, trying to appear innocent in front of Ethan.

Susan knew Amelia's character well. She couldn't understand how this charming Ethan was interested in her.

Following Amelia's finger, Ethan's gaze landed on Susan and George.

"George?"

"Mr. Robinson?"

They both exclaimed in surprise.

Then, George and Ethan quickly shook hands and patted each other's shoulders.

"Mr. Robinson, when did you get back to Maple Valley?" George asked, smiling.

"Last month. Didn't expect to see you here." Ethan replied warmly, showing they had a good relationship.

"And this is..." Ethan looked at Susan.

George jumped in, "This is my friend, Susan Wilson."

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Wilson," Ethan said with a polite smile.

"Hello," Susan replied with a nod.

Ethan then turned to the café staff. "It's a misunderstanding. These two are my friends. Everything's fine now. You can all go back to work."

The café manager and security guards dispersed, and the crowd went back to their seats.

George looked puzzled. Ethan explained, "My family owns this café."

"Oh, that makes sense," George laughed.

Amelia, surprised, stepped forward. "You two know each other?"

Ethan put his arm around Amelia. "George and I grew up together. We're best friends!"

"Really?" Amelia forced a smile.

"And this is..." George looked at Ethan, still puzzled.

Ethan introduced, "This is my girlfriend, Amelia Garcia."

Susan frowned, surprised Amelia had landed a wealthy guy.

"Didn't you just get back last month?" George asked.

"Yeah, Amelia and I hit it off right away. Love can't be stopped!" Ethan laughed.

Amelia smiled, but it looked forced.

Ethan then asked, "Do you all know each other?"

George glanced at Susan with a strained smile. She forced a smile back, not expecting Ethan to show up.

Amelia quickly said, "No, I don't know them. How could I?"

Susan noticed Amelia seemed nervous and couldn't help but smirk. Amelia probably feared Susan would spill her secrets.

"Ms. Garcia may not know me, but she looks familiar," George said.

"Really? Where have you seen her?" Ethan asked, curious.

Amelia looked nervous but kept smiling.

Susan found it amusing. She thought, 'Amelia must be exhausted pretending all the time. Sooner or later, Ethan will find out about her past. Will he still love her then?'

George hesitated, then said, "She once came to my law firm to sell insurance."

Ethan looked puzzled. "Didn't you say you only handle internal work and don't go out to sell insurance?" he asked Amelia.

Amelia quickly replied, "Oh, we were short on sales staff for a while, so I helped out. Normally, I don't go out."

"Oh," Ethan nodded.

Not wanting the conversation to continue, Amelia took Ethan's arm. "Didn't we say we were going to watch a movie? If we don't leave now, we'll be late."
