Chapter 545 Situation Out of Control
Rylee was bawling and cussing while smacking Catherine, "You shameless old hag, wrecking families at your age. You're ancient and still acting all slutty. I'm gonna beat you to death. And you're even family! How could you do something so disgraceful?"
Rylee, being a spoiled princess, had never been in a brawl and didn't have much muscle. It was Carol who jumped in to yank the blanket.
"Shameless, huh? Let's see what makes you so irresistible that Todd, at his age, would sneak into a hotel to hook up with you!" Carol spat, trying to rip the blanket off.
Todd was using one hand to shield Catherine and the other to grip the blanket, but with Rylee helping Carol, a big chunk of the blanket got pulled away. Todd's upper body was out there, and most of Catherine's too. Luckily, Todd held her tight, keeping her from being fully exposed.
Catherine screamed in pain from the hits, and seeing her body about to be exposed with Seb still in the room, she felt utterly humiliated.
"Carol, we're family. I know it's all my fault. You can hit me and scold me, but please give me some dignity!" Catherine cried.
Carol wasn't about to let Catherine off easy. "You still know we're family? I was against this marriage from the start. Didn't expect to bring a curse into our house. You and your daughter have turned our home upside down. Hitting and scolding you is nothing. Humiliation is the least you deserve!"
With that, Carol kept yanking the blanket and called Andrew for backup.
"Andrew, get over here and take this blanket away!"
Andrew hesitated for a sec but then stepped forward.
Seeing this, Susan knew she couldn't just stand by. Catherine might have been in the wrong, but no one deserved this kind of public degradation.
So, the next moment, Susan shoved Rylee away from hitting Catherine, then protected the blanket and looked up at Carol. "My mom knows she's wrong. Please forgive them. If this keeps going, no one will have any dignity left!"
At this moment, Catherine, her face swollen and red from the hits and her hair a mess, looked at Susan with guilt in her eyes.
Seeing Catherine like this, Susan felt bad, but they were definitely at fault.
Hearing this, Carol glared and said, "Forgive them? Susan, if I hadn't caught your mom and Todd in bed today, I wouldn't have known why Todd wanted to divorce me. Do you think I'm stupid? After divorcing me, you can be with this tramp, right? Then I'll be left all alone!"
"I've already agreed to leave with nothing. I don't want anything, Carol. What more do you want?" Todd was so stressed he could barely speak.
"What do I want? I want justice!" Carol stood there, all righteous, refusing to back down, still holding onto a corner of the blanket.
"Justice? Carol, if we're talking justice, I should've sought it ten years ago. I've put up with all this crap to keep things from getting ugly. But if you want to air our dirty laundry, fine. Let's talk about who owes who!" Todd let go of the blanket but still held onto Catherine with one arm.
Todd's eyes were ice-cold as he stared down Carol.
Carol's eyes locked with Todd's, and for a moment, the tension was thick.
She swallowed hard, glared at Todd, and through gritted teeth, she spat, "Todd, you're something else!"
With that, Carol let go of the blanket and stormed out of the room.
"Mom!" Andrew quickly followed her out.
Seeing Carol leave, Susan finally let out a sigh of relief.
She didn't know why Carol backed off after a few words from Todd, especially since she wasn't one to give up easily, but at least today's nightmare was over.
Just then, Rylee stepped forward and shoved Susan, knocking her to the ground!
Susan hit the floor, caught off guard, and hurt her back, wincing in pain.
Rylee pointed at Susan's nose and cursed, "Susan, my mom said you weren't any good, and I still stood up for you. You and your mom, one seducing Seb, the other seducing my dad. Do you think our family is that easy to mess with? You've crossed the line. I don't consider you my sister-in-law anymore. You and your slutty mom are my enemies!"
With that, Rylee stormed off in a huff.
Todd held Catherine's face, which was red, swollen, and bruised, with blood at the corners of her mouth.
"Catherine, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Todd asked, worried.
"I'm fine," Catherine sobbed, covering her face.
Susan watched Todd and Catherine coldly. Seeing Catherine beaten like this, she felt heartbroken but also furious. How did things get so messed up?
Suddenly, a voice roared, almost shaking the walls.
"Have you two had enough of your lovey-dovey act?"
Susan's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up to see Seb standing at the foot of the bed, his eyes blazing with anger, staring at the two on the bed.
The veins on his forehead were bulging, and his hands were clenched into fists.
She had never seen him this furious before, his face so dark it was terrifying. Susan was too scared to say a word.
"Seb, I'll explain to you later," Todd said, looking at Seb, his expression a bit fearful.
"Explain? What is there to explain? Explain that nothing happened? Or that you were seduced, or that she was raped?" Seb's voice was loud, each word hitting Todd and Catherine like a punch.
"My feelings with your mom haven't been good for years, I..."
Before Todd could finish, Seb cut him off again. "No matter how bad things are with my mom, it's no excuse for you to cheat!"
