Chapter 296 Entanglement
The next day, Susan went to Group Three to gather information. The accountant responsible for the Capgemini Software Company budget was tight-lipped. Although he didn't explicitly state the issues with the case, he clearly hinted to Susan that there were problems, implying that she should handle it carefully to avoid trouble.
To be honest, even though Susan was not familiar with this accountant, she could sense his goodwill, which was much better than her current colleagues in Group Six.
Susan couldn't help but feel a bit emotional. It seemed like several colleagues in Group Six had issues with her. The only male colleague, Elliott, had ill intentions towards her, while the female colleagues were distant, discussing matters privately and only nodding at her when they met.
Susan didn't understand the reason behind this and felt that it was difficult to work with them.
All day long, Susan was at a loss.
As the end of the workday approached, Susan quickly packed her things and left the company with the crowd.
After the previous experience of working late alone, Susan didn't want to give Elliott another chance. She preferred to take work home rather than stay late at the office.
While Susan was waiting at the bus stop, Elliott, wearing a white shirt and carrying a briefcase, walked over.
Seeing Elliott, Susan frowned and deliberately moved aside, thinking, 'Is Elliott also waiting for the bus?' She didn't even want to acknowledge him, not even willing to look at him. She found his eyes particularly sleazy.
However, several minutes passed, and the bus still hadn't arrived.
Finally, Susan thought, 'I'd rather spend more money on a taxi than see Elliott loitering in front of me.'
So, the next moment, Susan turned to leave.
But Elliott had been watching her for a while. He quickly stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
Seeing Elliott suddenly in front of her, Susan looked around. It was rush hour, and there were many people around. She thought Elliott probably wouldn't dare to do anything.
"What do you want?" Susan was still somewhat wary.
Seeing Susan's nervousness, Elliott sneered. "Susan, it's just two of us now. Stop pretending. I know you like rich men. Maybe you look down on a small employee like me, but haven't those rich men gotten tired of you? You're thirty now, right? At thirty, you're not young anymore, so lower your standards. We can both get what we want!"
Hearing these outrageous words, Susan was furious. She sternly warned him, "Elliott, I warn you; watch your mouth, or I won't be polite!"
As she said this, Susan touched the fruit knife in her purse. Although they were in public, if Elliott dared to lay a hand on her, she wouldn't let him off this time.
She knew people like Elliott all too well. He wasn't very brave but had a strong lust. If she didn't teach him a lesson, he would only get worse, and she would never have peace.
Since they were in public, Elliott wasn't foolish enough to do anything to her.
The next moment, Elliott changed his approach from threats to enticement. "Susan, don't be angry. We can make a deal. I know you're worried about the Capgemini Software Company budget case. I can help you solve it. Just spend one night with me, just once, and I promise I won't bother you again!"
As he said the last sentence, Elliott glanced at Susan's body.
His gaze made Susan feel nauseous, and she sneered inwardly.
Elliott was the kind of person who would push his luck, but she was curious to hear what solution he had for the budget case.
So, Susan held her breath, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Then I need to hear what solution you have for this case."
Hearing that Susan seemed to be wavering, Elliott took a step forward.
Seeing Elliott approach, Susan quickly stepped back, one arm in front of her chest, very alert.
Elliott knew that being impatient wouldn't help, so he explained to Susan, "I have a way to handle this case. Just follow my steps, and you'll pass. Then you can get your permanent position."
"What's your solution?" Susan asked anxiously.
But Elliott, rubbing his chin, smiled and said, "I can't tell you before we sleep together. What if you back out after I tell you?"
Hearing this, Susan realized how cunning Elliott was.
However, Susan didn't want to fall out with Elliott now. Although she wouldn't trade her body for his solution, she didn't want Elliott to cause her any trouble either.
So, Susan decided to placate Elliott for now.
Then, Susan smiled at Elliott and said, "Elliott, I heard you have a family. Your son is grown-up, right? Aren't you afraid your wife will find out?"
At this, Elliott said, "Don't mention her. Just talking about her makes me angry. She stays home with the kid all day, and now she's so fat and unkempt. I have no feelings for her anymore. If it weren't for my son, I would have divorced her long ago."
"You are really heartless. Your wife wasn't always unkempt, was she?" Hearing Elliott's words, Susan felt sorry for his wife and cursed Elliott in her heart for being shameless.
Elliott's face showed some embarrassment as he justified himself. "That's why I won't divorce her easily. I just want to find someone who shares my feelings. We can just talk about love!"
As he spoke, Elliott reached out to put his arm around Susan's shoulder.
Susan quickly dodged his hand and said, "I need to think about this. Besides, I need to evaluate you."
With that, Susan turned and walked away.
Hearing that Susan was considering it, Elliott quickly caught up and asked, "How long will you think about it?"
Susan didn't bother to respond and casually said, "Less than five days."
At this moment, Susan thought to herself, if she was still at a loss in five days, she wouldn't be able to complete the case in twenty days, and she would probably have to leave.
Hearing a definite time, Elliott stopped in his tracks and shouted excitedly at Susan's back, "I'll be waiting for you!"
At this moment, a pair of eyes in the back seat of a Rolls-Royce a hundred feet away was watching Susan and Elliott.
