Chapter 970 Moved
At this moment, Isabella was utterly frustrated and couldn't help but cursed Susan in her heart.
Meanwhile, Leon smiled at Isabella, then opened his suitcase and began taking out his clothes and toiletries, placing them one by one on the couch.
"What are you doing?" Seeing that he intended to stay, Isabella glared at Leon and questioned him.
Leon looked up at Isabella and answered matter-of-factly, "Of course, I'll live here to take care of you!"
Hearing his self-righteous words, Isabella was about to speak in anger.
But Leon patted the couch and said, "Don't worry, I'll just sleep here. I won't bother you at all!"
Isabella, furious, held her pregnant belly and said, "This is my home, okay? You need my permission to stay here! Besides, I don't need you to take care of me. Pack your things and leave immediately!"
Isabella angrily kicked Leon's suitcase.
"You don't need me, but my baby does," Leon said, continuing to take things out of his suitcase, looking shameless.
Seeing this, Isabella was about to lose her mind.
But with her big belly, she couldn't drive him away. She could only give him a fierce look before turning and heading to the bedroom, sliding the door shut.
Seeing Isabella go back to her room, Leon cheerfully put his toiletries in the bathroom, his clothes in a small cabinet by the couch, and then went into the kitchen to start making dinner.
Hearing the clattering of kitchen utensils, Isabella's heart softened inexplicably.
Isabella quietly slid the door open a bit and peeked outside. She saw Leon with an apron tied around his waist, busy in the kitchen.
That back was so familiar. He had cooked for her countless times, never letting her help.
At that moment, Isabella suddenly felt a bit dazed, as if she had returned to the past.
After a long time, Isabella slid the door shut.
Although their past was beautiful, it remained behind them. They could never go back to the way things were.
When the food was almost ready, Leon suddenly ran out of the kitchen and shouted towards the sliding door, "I'm going downstairs to buy some MSG. Dinner will be ready soon!"
Without waiting for Isabella's response, Leon opened the door and went downstairs.
Isabella sat by the bed for a while, then slowly got up, slid the door open, and walked out.
Staring at the closed front door, she hesitated for a long time. Finally, Isabella reached out and locked the door from the inside.
If the door was locked from the inside, no one could open it from the outside, even with a key.
Isabella forced herself to do that, considering they couldn't gonna make up. She couldn't let him stay in her house any longer because she was afraid she might soften and accept him again. She absolutely couldn't be with him anymore because he had once tried to kill her kid. Isabella wasn't sure what other crazy things he might do in the future. She had to protect herself and her kid. She couldn't get hurt again because she feared she wouldn't be able to bear it.
Soon, Isabella heard hurried footsteps outside.
Then, someone tried to unlock the door from the outside.
As expected, the key turned for a long time, but the door didn't open.
After a while, Leon's knocking came from outside. "Isabella? I'm back. Open the door, did you hear me?"
At this point, Leon realized that Isabella had locked him out from the inside.
"Isabella, do you have to treat me like this? I have no other intentions. I just want to take care of you and our baby. Can't you even give me that chance?" Leon's voice was filled with pain.
Hearing Leon's words, Isabella's nose tingled, and she covered her mouth with her hand, afraid she might cry.
The next moment, Isabella calmed her breathing and shouted towards the door, "We don't need your care, Mr. Johnson. Please leave! We can't afford your care."
After saying this, Isabella, one hand on her belly and the other on the wall, slowly sat down on the small rug by the door, exhausted.
Then, everything outside went quiet. Just when Isabella thought he had left, she suddenly heard his voice again. "Isabella, there's soup on the stove. It should be ready by now. Turn off the stove; it's dangerous!
Hearing this, Isabella turned her head and saw that there was indeed soup on the stove.
"Get it. You can go now!" Isabella said, struggling to stand up with the help of the wall, and then went to the kitchen.
The chicken soup on the stove was fragrant and bubbling. Looking at the delicious soup, Isabella's heart tightened.
She remembered Kathy mentioning on the plane that chicken soup was good for pregnant women. She didn't expect Leon to remember that and make it for her as soon as they got off the plane.
'Why? Why could he be so good to me now when he has once been so heartless as to want me to abort our baby?' Thinking of this, Isabella's eyes welled up.
After turning off the stove, Isabella sat wearily on the couch.
After a long time, night had already fallen. Feeling a bit hungry, Isabella served herself some chicken soup.
After a few sips, she lost her appetite and went to the bedroom to rest.
The next morning, after washing up, Isabella felt a bit hungry and suddenly craved a sandwich from the shop downstairs. She got dressed and went out.
Opening the door, Isabella was startled.
She saw someone at her doorstep.
Leon, wearing a white shirt, was sitting at her door. Next to him was a half-eaten sandwich, an empty beer bottle, and a makeshift ashtray made of paper.
His hair was a bit messy, his chin covered in stubble, his clothes wrinkled, and he looked haggard, as if he hadn't slept all night.
Seeing Leon like this, Isabella couldn't help but frowned.
"Why haven't you left?" Isabella glared at Leon and asked, though her heart had already softened; she was just pretending to be tough.
Leon looked up, met Isabella's eyes, and said firmly, "I told you, I will stay here and watch over you and our baby."
Hearing this, Isabella's nose tingled again, but she looked up at the ceiling and said, "I also told you, we don't need your concern."
