Chapter 1175 What Are You Laughing at?

Upon hearing this, Cecilia frowned and turned to leave. "Then I'm going home!"

Daryl, however, stepped forward to block her path and said seriously, "Don't be stubborn, okay? Look, it's the middle of the night outside and it's not safe."

Cecilia raised her eyes and stared sharply at Daryl. "I see what you mean. You want me to spend the night with you, right?"

Daryl rubbed his eyebrow and shrugged. "I'm drunk tonight and have no energy at all. Even if you had demands, I don't think I could meet them."

Upon hearing this, Cecilia angrily shoved Daryl and shouted, "Daryl, you're disgusting!"

Daryl took a step back and replied, "Hey, clearly, I'm flirting."

"You..." Cecilia seethed with anger.

Daryl got serious again and said, "I'll sleep on the couch, and you can have the bed!"

Seeing that Cecilia still wasn't convinced, he added, "Don't worry, I promise I won't have any improper thoughts about you. Look at you now; if you go out, you'll definitely be in danger. Your wet clothes—I'll have the staff dry clean them, and you can wear them tomorrow morning. How does that sound ?"

"I don't trust you!" Cecilia glanced at Daryl.

It would be foolish to trust a man's promise in this situation!

Seeing that she didn't believe him, Daryl suddenly swore, "If I do anything improper to you tonight, may I be struck by lightning!"

Cecilia frowned at this, surprised that he would make such a serious oath.

She looked down at her robe. Indeed, she had no other choice.

Seeing her still hesitating, Daryl looked at her seriously and said, "If you're still not sure, I can swear more."

"That's enough!" Cecilia immediately stopped him.

Noticing the guilt in Cecilia's eyes, Daryl grinned and said, "I..."

Cecilia interrupted him. "Daryl, tonight is just out of necessity. I'm tired, I'm going to sleep!"

After that, she turned coldly to the bed, wrapped herself in the blanket, and closed her eyes.

In reality, how could she sleep? But she had to; she couldn't give Daryl any response or hope, or else she'd be entangled with him forever.

As Cecilia lay on the bed, Daryl frowned. Although he was disappointed by her coldness, he turned off the lights and lay down on the couch.

In fact, neither of them could sleep.

Cecilia didn't want Daryl to know she was awake, so she didn't even dare to turn over.

Daryl kept his eyes on the bed in the dark, unwilling to sleep because this chance to be together was too rare.

After a long time, Cecilia finally fell into a hazy sleep.

She had a dream where she was on a small boat surrounded by raging waves, gripping the handles tightly, afraid of falling into the water.

That night, Cecilia felt exhausted, and her hands were numb.

The next morning, she slept soundly until the doorbell rang.

Struggling to open her sleepy eyes, she vaguely saw a muscular back getting out of bed and walking toward the door.

Seeing the figure in just sleep pants, Cecilia was startled!

The next moment, she sat up swiftly.

Glancing around, she noticed that the bed sheets were particularly messy, leading to some troubling thoughts.

Wait, she had slept on the bed while Daryl was on the couch. How did he end up in bed?

Thinking of this, Cecilia nervously looked down. Her robe was loose, revealing more than she intended.

She hurriedly adjusted her robe and tightened the belt until it felt almost too tight to breathe.

However, she was sure nothing inappropriate had happened last night because she had no memory of it, just a long dream.

When the door opened, a smiling staff member appeared, holding neatly folded clothes. "Mr. Fields, Miss Thorne's clothes are dry-cleaned."

The staff member glanced inside and saw Cecilia in her robe with messy hair sitting on the bed. She quickly averted his eyes.

Cecilia's gaze briefly met the staff member's for just a split second, and her face instantly flushed with embarrassment.

Seeing the staff's ambiguous smile, it was understandable; anyone would assume she and Daryl had spent the night together.

"Thank you!" Daryl said as he took the clothes from the staff and closed the door, shutting her out.

He turned around with the clothes and saw Cecilia sitting on the bed.

Cecilia quickly lowered her head, unable to handle the intensity of his gaze upon her at that moment.

Seeing Cecilia awake, he gently placed the clothes by the bed, sat down in front of her, and smiled, "You're awake?"

"Yes," Cecilia replied softly.

Suddenly, the room's atmosphere grew tense, making it hard to breathe.

Cecilia hugged the clothes and tried to get out of bed. "I should go!"

Daryl grabbed Cecilia's arm, and as he watched her attempt to escape, he teased, "What? Use me and then just leave?"

Cecilia frowned at his words and retorted, "You volunteered to help last night. I didn't force you into anything, did I? Of course, I'm sorry you drank too much because of me and appreciate your help, but I took care of you last night. What more do you want? Do you want me to pay some kind of price? Let me be clear—I won't accept any unspoken rules!"

Seeing Cecilia's righteous stance, Daryl couldn't help but laugh.

Cecilia frowned. "What are you laughing at?"

Suddenly, Daryl leaned forward, bringing his face close to hers.

In a panic, Cecilia recoiled, pressing her back against the leather headboard.
