Chapter 1176 Why Is It Me

Daryl could advance no further, and she could retreat no more.

Their eyes locked, their noses almost touching, and his lips were nearly brushing against hers.

At that moment, Cecilia's heart raced! She clutched her bathrobe tightly.

Then, she turned away, trying to create some distance between them.

To be honest, he was shirtless, and his warm breath was all over her face, making her feel both comfortable and ticklish, disturbing her calm heart.

"What are you doing?" Cecilia crossed her arms, sensing the dangerous aura emanating from him.

Seeing her frightened expression, Daryl's eyes softened, and his voice turned hoarse. "Didn't you ask why I was laughing? I want to explain it to you."

Cecilia anxiously pushed his chest and said irritably, "If you want to explain, then go ahead, but stay away from me."

As she said this, her hand brushed against Daryl's chest.

His chest was firm and unusually warm, almost hot.

Cecilia's hand recoiled as if it had been pricked.

'What was wrong with me? I actually touched his chest, and he isn't even wearing a shirt!' Thinking of that, Cecilia's face turned red with embarrassment.

Just as her hand left his chest, his large hand grabbed hers and placed it over his heart.

Cecilia struggled to pull her hand back, but he held it tightly.

Then, she felt completely enveloped by his presence.

Her back pressed against the leather bed, leaving her no room to retreat.

Seeing her nervous expression, Daryl felt a mix of pity and affection as he pressed her hand firmly against his chest.

Cecilia could clearly feel his heart pounding, so strong and hot, that it felt like an electric current running through her body, a sensation she couldn't quite put into words.

At that moment, Daryl looked at Cecilia and smiled, "Even if I had died of drunkenness last night, I wouldn't have any regrets. For you, I'm willing to do anything!"

Hearing such a confession, Cecilia looked up in confusion.

She saw a pair of deeply affectionate and sincere eyes.

Cecilia couldn't help but feel puzzled. Daryl was not the type who used sweet words. Although he could easily stir her emotions at times, he had never said anything like this before.

At that moment, he seemed unusually heartfelt and sincere. Cecilia didn't know what he was thinking. Why was he suddenly confessing to her? Hadn't he given up on her? Didn't he love Skylar?

Right, he and Skylar had broken off their engagement. Did that mean it was really over for them? Is that why he came to her? Didn't he think she was a vain, fickle woman? Didn't he say she wasn't worthy of his love?

A series of questions made Cecilia look at Daryl with doubt. However, she knew that no matter what sweet words he said now, she wouldn't believe him, let alone be in a relationship.

Love was a luxury and hurtful thing; she couldn't afford it or handle it.

Cecilia coldly stared at the sincere-faced Daryl and said, "Does it even matter to say this to me right now?"

Cecilia's cold attitude made Daryl frown. "Cecilia, I really do love you ."

"But I don't love you anymore," Cecilia said, turning away.

"Impossible!" Daryl said firmly.

Seeing his confident demeanor, Cecilia sneered, "Daryl, overconfidence is just arrogance. Does everyone else have to love you for it to be okay? No matter the situation, will they always wait for you?"

"I understand I can't make anyone wait for me, but you're fooling yourself. You can't trick me or yourself. Last night, on this very bed, you were calling my name in your sleep. How do you explain that?" Daryl pointed to the bed they were sitting on.

Hearing this, Cecilia was completely shocked!

"What did you say? I called your name last night?" She stared at Daryl in disbelief and asked.

Last night, she did have a dream.

In the dream, she was on a small boat in a stormy sea, tightly gripping the boat.

At that moment, Daryl looked at Cecilia and replied, "In your sleep, you called out, 'Daryl, Daryl, I'm going to fall, it's dangerous.'"

Hearing this, Cecilia couldn't help but recall the events of her dream.

She had dreamt of Daryl, imagining that they were on a small boat together, and she seemed to be holding his hand, not the boat.

At that moment, Cecilia looked at Daryl's chest.

There were several red marks on Daryl's chest, like scratches, very noticeable on his skin.

Noticing Cecilia's gaze, Daryl looked down at his chest and smiled, "This is your handiwork from last night."

Cecilia frowned, staring at the marks on Daryl's chest.

However, Daryl didn't seem angry at all; instead, he seemed to like the marks she left on his chest.

"Last night, your hands were all over my chest, grabbing my bathrobe, not letting me go. You women are all the same, denying everything once you're out of bed?" Daryl teased, looking down at Cecilia.

Hearing this, Cecilia felt extremely embarrassed.

Faced with the evidence and her own memory, she couldn't deny it. The marks on his chest were indeed left by her.

It was so embarrassing. How could she have called his name in the middle of the night?

Cecilia quickly composed herself and replied to him with a cold, stern expression, "Daryl, let me get this straight. I was just having a nightmare and called your name. Do you think that means I love you? You're too full of yourself. It was just a coincidence that you showed up in my dream. If it were someone else, I would have called their name too."

Daryl looked at Cecilia and asked, "Then why was it me in your dream and not someone else?"
