Chapter 626 Restraint

"A man who cares deeply about his woman will be very sensitive to other men approaching her, and he might even take it out on her. But this man loves her with all his heart," Leon said, looking at Esme.

Hearing this, Esme couldn't help but give a bitter smile. "Isn't there a rumor that Mr. Anderson and his wife are getting a divorce?"

"All couples fight, but Mr. Anderson still loves his wife deeply, there's no doubt about that," Leon said firmly.

Esme then glanced into the emergency room, where she saw Seb standing six feet away from the bed, his eyes focused intently on the medical staff conducting a thorough examination of Susan. His brows were furrowed tightly, and he had no interest in looking anywhere else.

Esme forced a smile. "Mr. Johnson, I just remembered I have something to do. I'll be leaving now. Could you please let Mr. Anderson know for me?"

"Sure," Leon nodded.

The next moment, Esme turned to leave.

"Wait a minute!" Leon called out to Esme.

Esme turned back, looking at Leon in confusion.

Leon's eyes fell on Esme's shoulder, and he kindly reminded her, "Mr. Anderson's jacket."

Hearing this, Esme looked down at the jacket draped over her shoulder, blushed, and awkwardly took it off, handing it to Leon with both hands. "Sorry, I forgot about this."

Leon nodded politely.

Then, Leon watched as Esme's dejected figure walked away.

The white light of dawn shone into the ward, everything still in a dreamlike state, quiet and peaceful.

A woman lay on the bed, her long hair spread out on the pillow, motionless in her sleep.

A man in a white shirt sat by the bed, his eyes fixed on the woman, holding her hand against his face.

The red wine stain on Seb's shirt was still there. He had stayed by Susan's bedside all night, not even going home to change.

As the sunlight outside turned golden, a nurse pushed open the door to the ward.

"Mr. Anderson, your wife's test results are out," the nurse said, handing a stack of reports to Seb.

"Is it serious?" Seb asked urgently as he took the reports.

"The doctor said there's nothing major, just that her body is weak from the previous miscarriage and needs a good period of rest. She'll need to stay in the hospital for another four to five days," the nurse replied.

Hearing that Susan was not in serious condition, Seb finally felt relieved and nodded. "Thank you."

Before leaving, the nurse added, "Your wife's condition is due to lack of rest and emotional stress, which caused her to faint. In the future, make sure she doesn't get too emotional. If a woman doesn't recover well from a miscarriage, her health can suffer greatly. Also, pay attention to her nutrition and rest."

"I understand, thank you," Seb said seriously after listening to the nurse.

The nurse nodded and then left the ward.

After the nurse left, Seb stood by the bed, looking at Susan with a mix of pity and helplessness. After a long while, he murmured to himself, "Susan, what am I going to do with you?"

At that moment, Susan's head moved slightly.

Seb's eyes lit up, and a look of joy appeared on his face. After several hours, she was finally waking up!

Seeing Susan's eyelashes flutter, Seb quickly walked to the window, turning his back to her.

In truth, he really wanted her to see him first when she woke up, but his pride wouldn't allow it.

Susan opened her sleepy eyes, feeling extremely tired and weak all over.

Looking at the IV in her arm and the ward, Susan realized she was in the hospital again.

Turning her head, she was startled by the tall figure standing by the window!

The next moment, she recognized the figure as Seb.

Seeing him, Susan's heart skipped a beat.

Frowning as she recalled the events of last night, she remembered going to find Seb, who was having dinner with the famous Esme. They argued, and then she remembered nothing. It seemed she had fainted.

Knowing she was fully awake, Seb turned around, his eyes meeting Susan's.

His gaze was deep and unreadable, his face expressionless, leaving Susan unable to discern his thoughts.

"Awake?" Seb asked, looking down at Susan, his tone stiff and distant.

Susan didn't hear any warmth in his voice, and though she felt disappointed, she thought maybe this was how their relationship was meant to be.

"Did you bring me to the hospital?" Susan asked, lowering her eyes, not wanting to meet his gaze.

"I wasn't exactly thrilled about it," Seb replied, his hands shoved deep in his pockets, fists clenched. "But I didn't want your death on my conscience, either."

His sarcastic tone made Susan feel uncomfortable, but she kept her composure, thinking, 'Don't get angry with him!'

"Don't worry, I'm strong. Even if you didn't bring me to the hospital, I wouldn't die," Susan said bluntly.

Hearing this, Seb was naturally displeased.

But remembering the nurse's advice, his tone softened. "The doctor said you need to stay here for another four to five days to rest."

Susan dismissed it, saying, "I know my body best. Once the IV is done, I'll be discharged. Don't worry, I'll pay you back for the hospital fees you covered. I won't owe you anything!"

"Susan!" Seb couldn't stand it and called her name loudly.

Susan looked at him without any fear.

After staring at her for a long time, Seb finally swallowed his anger and said, "Don't be so self-righteous."

At this point, Susan looked at Seb and asked, "When are you bringing Hayden and Spring back?"

She really missed the kids and couldn't wait to see them.

Seeing the concern and longing in Susan's eyes for the children, Seb's eyes darkened.

"You're in no condition to look after them right now, Susan," he said gently. "You need to focus on recovering. Having them here would only hinder that, and you might even get them sick. It wouldn't be fair to any of you."
