Chapter 611 Heartbroken

Upon hearing this, Susan didn't speak. She gently touched her abdomen and sorrowfully said, "I didn't imagined losing this child so suddenly. I wasn't prepared at all."

"It's fate, Susan," Isabella said, taking her hand. "You have to find a way to accept it."

"What else can I do but accept it?" Susan replied with a bitter smile.

Isabella sighed and said, "We had so many plans for this child, but now it's all for nothing. At least you can rest now. I'll help you recover. You really need a break; you've been pushing yourself too hard lately."

"Okay," Susan nodded.

Then, Isabella glanced towards the door and whispered, "Why is George here?"

"He was nearby. If it wasn't for him..." Susan trailed off, the memory of the emergency too vivid.

Hearing this, Isabella looked at Susan with a half-smile and said, "It can't be just a coincidence, right? I think he's hoping to rekindle things now that you're divorced. He probably sees this as his chance."

Susan turned her face away, looking out the window, and murmured, "I won't accept any relationship now. There's no room in my heart for anyone else. Even in the future, it's impossible between him and me. I can't go back and forth between two cousins!"

Seeing Susan's resolute expression, Isabella nodded but still said regretfully, "But honestly, George is deeply devoted to you. Not every man can do what he does for you."

"That's why I feel so guilty. I want you to take care of me so he won't come to the hospital anymore," Susan said, grabbing Isabella's hand.

Patting Susan's back, Isabella smiled and said, "I can take care of you, no problem. But making sure George stays away might be a challenge."

Susan knew Isabella was right, but she still insisted. She didn't want George to have any more illusions about her and didn't want to get entangled in emotional turmoil again.

Despite this, Susan was still very touched by George's meticulous care.

Seeing Susan's troubled expression, Isabella said, "You look tired. Why don't you take a nap? If George comes again, I'll send him away for you."

Susan nodded and closed her eyes, feeling utterly exhausted.

In the Vice President's office of Prosperity Group, the large floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of half of Maple Valley.

The grand desk and bookshelves were impressive, and the black high-end leather guest sofa and the large electronic precision globe showcased the office owner's status and position. Even the guest glasses were made of pure crystal. Everything in the office was very modern and stylish.

Dressed in an off-white suit, Andrew gave some instructions to his secretary when his phone rang on the desk.

Andrew glanced at the flashing number on the screen and waved to the secretary. "You can leave now."

The secretary quickly bowed and left. After seeing the door close, Andrew answered the phone.

"What? Pregnant? Ectopic pregnancy?" Andrew frowned upon hearing the news.

He then listened carefully to the report from the other end, thought for a moment, and instructed, "Keep Isabella distracted. I want George to take care of Susan personally. Understand?"

The other end immediately responded, "Understood."

"Notify me once it's done." With that, Andrew hung up the phone.

The next day at noon, George walked into the ward carrying a thermos.

Seeing George and the thermos, Susan smiled and said, "Didn't I tell you not to bring me food? Isabella just went out to buy me lunch."

George placed the thermos on the table and said, "Didn't I tell you? The food outside isn't good. I have a housekeeper at home. She made it, and I brought it over."

"This is too much trouble. It will affect your work," Susan frowned.

Susan was subtly rejecting George's care, but it was unclear whether George didn't understand or was pretending not to.

The next moment, George had already placed a steaming bowl of chicken soup in front of Susan.

Susan had no choice but to take it and drink a couple of sips.

The chicken soup tasted good, but Susan felt a lot of pressure.

At that moment, Susan's phone suddenly rang.

Handing the bowl to George, Susan looked at the phone and said, "It's Isabella. She's probably asking what I want to eat."

With that, Susan answered the call.

"Susan, I don't think I can make it to the hospital. You should call George to bring you food," Isabella's voice sounded urgent.

Hearing this, Susan frowned and asked, "Isabella, what's wrong? You sound off."

"I was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the street. I think my leg is broken. The driver has taken me to the emergency room," Isabella said painfully.

"What? You broke your leg? Wait, I'm coming over right now!" Susan said, trying to get out of bed.

Seeing this, George quickly stopped her. "You just had surgery. You can't get out of bed!"

Seeing George's furrowed brows, Susan couldn't care less and said anxiously, "Isabella was hit by a motorcycle and broke her leg. She's in the emergency room now. She has no family in Maple Valley. I can't just leave her alone!"

Hearing this, George hesitated for a moment, then grabbed Susan's hand and forced her to sit back on the bed. "You can't help her in your current state. How about you stay here and drink the chicken soup? I'll go check on Isabella for you. Don't worry, I'll make sure she's taken care of. Okay?"

Seeing George's determined eyes, Susan thought for a moment. She really didn't have the strength to walk, and going there might only worry Isabella more.

So, the next moment, Susan grabbed George's hand and pleaded, "I'll leave Isabella to you. Please make sure she's well taken care of!"

"Don't worry," George said, then turned and left.

After George left, Susan was very anxious but had no choice. She could only wait for George to return.

An hour later, the door to the ward finally opened.

Susan looked up to see George returning calmly.

Seeing George's relaxed expression, Susan frowned and asked, "How is Isabella?"

Isabella's leg was broken, right? How did George come back so quickly, and why did he look so... relaxed?
