Chapter 1009 Making Trouble

Isabella slumped to the floor against the glass door, clutching her short hair in agony, feeling totally deceived and betrayed.

She had kinda thought that as Leon got older and more successful, he might end up with a mistress someday. But she never imagined it would happen so soon; they had just gotten married, and Milo was only six months old.

Isabella soaked in the bath for over an hour until she heard Leon knocking on the door from outside.

"Are you done yet? What's taking so long?" Leon's voice kept bugging her from outside.

Isabella frowned and opened the door.

Seeing Isabella's annoyed face, Leon stepped forward and grabbed her arm, frowning. "What's up with you?"

"I'm tired and want to rest." Isabella didn't even look at him, shook off his hand, and headed to the bedroom.

Leon was a bit puzzled and looked down at his shirt, feeling uneasy.

That night, Isabella lay with her back to Leon, unable to sleep for a long time, her mind blank.

Leon tried to talk to Isabella several times, but she just wasn't having it.

Throughout the night, Milo woke up several times, so Isabella fed him and changed his diaper; she finally fell asleep in a daze at dawn.

That morning, Leon sat in the back seat of the car, looking pretty grim.

"Royce, where did yesterday's shirt and tie come from?" Leon asked, his eyes cold as he looked at his special assistant Royce in the front passenger seat.

Hearing this, Royce quickly turned around and said, "Mr. Johnson, they were bought by Stella Hall. She accidentally spilled coffee on your clothes and felt really bad, so she volunteered to buy new ones. Is there a problem?"

Leon had been in a bad mood all morning, so Royce was very cautious.

Hearing this, Leon said, "Look into Stella's background for me and see if she's been in close contact with Bronte."

"Yes." Royce didn't dare to ask more and quickly nodded.

In the afternoon, Royce knocked on the chairman's office door.

"Mr. Johnson, this is Stella's resume from the past few years. She was specially recruited by Bronte's father two years ago." Royce placed a file in front of Leon.

Leon picked up the file, flipped through it casually, and then closed it, saying, "Transfer her out of the CEO's office immediately."

"Mr. Johnson, but Stella didn't do anything wrong." Royce said, puzzled.

Leon glanced at Royce. "This is a normal work transfer. She's not a good fit for the CEO's office."

"Yes," Royce responded and left.

After Royce left, Leon, sitting in his swivel chair, intertwined his fingers for a moment, then pressed the intercom. "Call Ms. Langley over."

Soon, there was a knock on the office door.

"Come in," Leon called out.

The new secretary was competent and understood why the previous one was replaced. So now, no matter who it was, they had to knock before entering the CEO's office.

As soon as he finished speaking, the office door was pushed open, and Bronte, dressed in a black and white suit, walked in gracefully in high heels.

Leon completely ignored Bronte's sexy figure and beautiful face.

Bronte walked up to Leon's desk, flashing a bright smile. "Leon, oh, I mean, Mr. Johnson, you called for me?"

"Yeah." Leon nodded, his cold gaze fixed on Bronte's face.

Bronte felt a bit uneasy under Leon's stare, so she brushed her curly hair and smiled. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Leon looked down, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Bronte, I think I've made myself very clear to you. I don't want to waste time repeating myself."

Hearing this, Bronte looked at Leon, puzzled. "Mr. Johnson, I don't understand what you mean. I think you might have misunderstood me."

"If it's a misunderstanding, that would be great. Please take your things and don't waste your efforts anymore because it won't work on me!" Leon pointed to a corner of the desk where there was a handbag.

Following Leon's finger, Bronte glanced at the handbag, then walked over suspiciously, picked it up, and looked inside, frowning.

Bronte recognized the shirt and tie in the handbag. She looked up at Leon and asked, "Mr. Johnson, what do you mean by this?"

"Bronte, you should know best what you've done. Do I need to spell it out?" Leon's eyes bore into Bronte.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Bronte continued to play innocent.

Hearing this, Leon became very angry. He closed the file in front of him and stood up straight.

He pressed his hands on the desk and said, "Stella was placed in the CEO's office by you, right?"

"I admit Stella got into the company through my father's connections, and she is grateful to me, so we have a good relationship. But I have never used her to do anything against you!" Bronte said confidently.

"I admit you saved my life, and you wouldn't do anything against me now. But I can't tolerate you using Stella to hurt the people around me!" Leon's eyes were filled with warning as he stared at Bronte.

Hearing this, Bronte's face fell, and she said tearfully, "Is it wrong to love you? I know you don't love me, but I can't control my feelings for you. I have no choice."

Leon was very dissatisfied with Bronte's explanation. "Love isn't wrong, but you shouldn't go after a married man or use dirty tricks to hurt innocent people."

"I fell in love with you before you were married!" Bronte retorted.

"Then when I got married, you should have withdrawn your love. You instructed Stella to deliberately spill coffee on me and had me wear the shirt and tie you bought in front of Isabella, causing her to misunderstand and affecting our relationship. Your methods are too low!" Leon accused Bronte coldly.

But Bronte remained defiant. "Leon, if Isabella misunderstood you, don't you think it's a problem between you two? If she eally trusted you and your relationship was perfect, how could she misunderstand you? I just used a little trick to test your relationship, and it turns out it's not as strong as you think. Your feelings for her are just a passing fancy, and later you felt responsible because she had your kid!"
