Chapter 1383 Apple Biting Game
Seeing the necklace, Cecilia felt a wave of gratitude for Elowen's thoughtfulness. After her divorce from Daryl, she hadn't kept any of the jewelry he had given her.
In the past few years, she hadn't felt like buying any jewelry either, except for a few pairs of earrings she wore regularly.
Cecilia smiled at the saleswoman and said, "I'll put it on myself."
She fastened the pearl necklace and walked over to the mirror. She had to admit, the necklace really brightened her up and made her look more elegant. It was the perfect finishing touch.
The auspicious hour arrived quickly, and Cecilia followed Elowen to the ceremony, which officially began.
As the music started, Cecilia spotted Daryl.
Elijah and Elowen walked slowly ahead, while Daryl and Cecilia followed behind at a leisurely pace.
Looking at the red carpet ahead, Cecilia caught a glimpse of Daryl's coat out of the corner of her eye, and couldn't help but remember their own wedding.
The same music, almost identical decorations, black tuxedo, white wedding dress, and vibrant roses.
Cecilia shook her head slightly, reminding herself: Didn't think about it anymore, the past was gone.
When they reached the stage, Cecilia stood in front of the bridesmaid, and Daryl stood in front of Elijah. They didn't exchange any glances throughout the ceremony.
About half an hour later, the ceremony concluded, and when the groom kissed the bride, the audience erupted in applause.
Watching Elijah and Elowen's passionate kiss, Cecilia's eyes welled up, and she joined in the applause.
Elijah and Elowen were a happy and lucky couple. Their love story was perfect, and they had effortlessly entered the realm of marriage. Elowen was pregnant, and Azalea treated her like her own daughter. Cecilia hoped they would remain happy forever, unlike her own tumultuous journey that ended in separation.
After the kiss, the host smiled and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, now we move on to the game segment. The groom and bride are tired from kissing, so how about we let the best man and maid of honor play a game first?"
The host's words were met with laughter and cheers from the guests, creating a lively atmosphere.
Standing on the stage, Cecilia frowned at the host's suggestion.
She glanced up and met Daryl's gaze.
His expression was stiff, and his brows furrowed slightly, indicating his reluctance.
Seeing this, Cecilia quickly lowered her head, contemplating how to avoid the situation. Wedding games were meant to liven up the atmosphere, often involving awkward or embarrassing tasks. Cecilia was particularly resistant, especially since she would be paired with Daryl.
As Cecilia considered pretending to be unwell or making a quick escape, the host's assistant pushed her to the side.
Cecilia stumbled and bumped into a solid wall of flesh!
Strong arms steadied her.
She looked up and realized she had collided with Daryl.
Hesitating for a moment, Cecilia noticed her hand was still on his chest. She quickly withdrew it and stepped back.
The host's voice rang out again. "Alright, folks, our first game is apple eating. Here's how it works: we'll hang an apple on a string, and the best man and maid of honor will stand on either side. Whoever eats the apple first wins a special gift from the bride and groom!"
Hearing this, Cecilia frowned deeply.
She had seen the apple-eating game before. It was designed to embarrass the participants, and there was a chance the best man and maid of honor might accidentally kiss.
At this moment, Cecilia realized she couldn't refuse. The staff had already hung the apple, and she and Daryl were pushed in front of it.
Cecilia glanced at the guests, who were all eagerly watching them.
She really didn't want to play this game and considered running away. But doing so would embarrass the bride, groom, and the Fields family. After some thought, Cecilia decided to endure it.
"Start eating the apple!" the host shouted.
Daryl and Cecilia stood on either side of the apple. Cecilia saw Daryl frowning and felt a mix of emotions.
She stared at the apple in front of her, lost in thought.
"The game ends when the best man or maid of honor eats the apple," the host added, noticing Cecilia's hesitation.
Hearing this, Cecilia thought, 'Since there's no avoiding it, let's get it over with quickly.'
Daryl and Cecilia stepped closer to the apple.
They exchanged a glance, and with a silent understanding, moved forward to bite the apple hanging from the string.
But the staff were mischievous and wouldn't let them succeed easily.
The next moment, the staff pulled the apple up, causing Daryl and Cecilia to miss.
Due to the momentum, their bodies bumped into each other.
Cecilia's forehead hit Daryl's chin, and she rubbed her head while Daryl awkwardly touched his chin.
Both felt incredibly embarrassed. Cecilia lowered her head, not daring to look at Daryl. Their proximity allowed her to catch his scent.
The staff lowered the apple again.
Cecilia stared at the apple, determined. She thought, 'I will eat this apple!'
Daryl noticed Cecilia's fierce determination and smirked.
The apple-eating game required coordination. One person had to hold the apple with their mouth, giving the other a chance to bite it.
Cecilia just wanted to end the awkward situation quickly. She grabbed Daryl's hand and whispered, "I'll count to three, and we'll bite the apple together."
Daryl nodded.
Cecilia counted, "One, two, three!"
They both moved to bite the apple.
The staff holding the string was experienced. Seeing them open their mouths wide to bite it, he smiled slyly.
