Chapter 1131 You Really Know How to Act
Seeing Cecilia packing up to leave, Skylar anxiously said, "Don't go! Do you know how important my two appointments this afternoon are? I canceled all of them for you, and now you're just leaving me? That's not very friendly of you!"
Hearing this, Cecilia paused her packing and looked at Skylar apologetically. "Skylar, I'm sorry, but my boss is waiting for my draft, and another colleague is waiting outside for me!"
Skylar smiled and said, "I know you're not doing this willingly. Otherwise, you wouldn't want to miss catching up with me, right?"
Hearing that, Cecilia lowered her head a bit embarrassed.
In fact, those were just excuses; she just didn't want to see Daryl.
"Why don't you stay here, have some tea, and enjoy some snacks? Look at the beautiful scenery here. You can't find these snacks anywhere else. Just tell your boss that I insisted you stay. As for your colleague, don't worry, Kennedy is keeping her company with tea and snacks. She's probably having a great time!" Skylar placed several exquisite snacks in front of Cecilia.
Hearing this and looking at the exquisite snacks, Cecilia couldn't refuse.
Cecilia picked up a snack, tasting it while chatting with Skylar. As for Daryl, she decided to let things take their course.
After all, they had broken up, and she would just treat him as a stranger.
But she had to admit, the snacks were indeed delicious, not greasy at all, and very refreshing, like fruit. Cecilia had never had such snacks before, though with her recent poor appetite, she ate two pieces and still wanted more.
At that moment, the sound of steady footsteps approached, and Cecilia, who was chewing on a snack, paused involuntarily.
Sure enough, the next moment, a tall figure emerged from behind the screen.
"Daryl, you're here so soon?" Seeing Daryl, Skylar stood up happily and took his arm.
"I was nearby when I got your text, so it didn't take long." Daryl smiled slightly at Skylar.
Seeing them being so gentle and considerate with each other, Cecilia's hand holding the snack stiffened.
At that moment, she regretted it because she had overestimated her ability to handle the situation.
The next moment, Skylar smiled and said to Daryl, "Daryl, guess who this is?"
Following Skylar's gaze, Daryl finally noticed Cecilia sitting in the chair.
Out of politeness and not wanting to arouse Skylar's suspicion, Cecilia put down the snack, stood up slowly, and met Daryl's slightly shocked eyes, saying calmly, "Hello, Mr. Fields."
Daryl's eyes met Cecilia's briefly before he also said calmly, "Hello, Ms. Thorne."
After the greetings, Cecilia felt the air in the pavilion become particularly tense and lowered her head slightly.
To be honest, she hated pretending, but today she had to act in front of Skylar.
Daryl's gaze lingered on Cecilia, clearly feeling uncomfortable as well.
Skylar glanced at them, then pulled Daryl's arm and said with a smile, "Daryl, the snacks here are really delicious. Sit down and try some!"
With that, Skylar pulled Daryl to sit at the tea table.
Cecilia also slowly sat back down, picked up the half-eaten snack, and continued to chew slowly, while listening to Skylar and Daryl's conversation.
"How is it? Cecilia also said it's good; she's already had three pieces!" Skylar smiled at Daryl, who was eating the snack.
Hearing this, Daryl glanced at Cecilia.
Cecilia had just raised her head, and their eyes met.
His face was expressionless, and Cecilia couldn't read his emotions, only feeling his gaze was very cold and distant.
Indeed, they no longer had any financial ties and were just ordinary strangers.
Afraid that Skylar might notice something, Cecilia quickly lowered her head and quietly ate the snack.
But the next moment, Skylar suddenly said, "Daryl, Cecilia will be my bridesmaid. I've already told her about our wedding next month."
Hearing this, Daryl was stunned for a moment, then said, "That's great."
"I didn't expect to run into Cecilia today. It turns out the Vogue Vista reporter is her. Isn't that quite a coincidence?" Skylar looked at Cecilia.
"You two are quite fated," Daryl said, looking at Cecilia.
Cecilia sat there, feeling like she was on pins and needles.
Finally finishing the snack in her hand, Cecilia wanted to get up and leave.
But at that moment, Skylar's phone suddenly rang.
Skylar picked up the phone, glanced at it, and smiled at Daryl and Cecilia. "It's my mom. I'll take this call. You two enjoy the tea and snacks."
With that, Skylar answered the phone and walked out of the pavilion.
After Skylar left, only Daryl and Cecilia were left in the pavilion.
For a moment, the air was thick with tension.
Cecilia frowned at the snacks in front of her, considering whether to leave immediately.
But at that moment, Daryl suddenly leaned forward and grabbed Cecilia's wrist.
"What are you trying to do?" Daryl glared at Cecilia.
Cecilia felt her wrist tighten and looked up to meet Daryl's questioning gaze.
She frowned and, seeing the tension on his face, retorted angrily, "Why are you so nervous? Are you afraid Skylar will find out about our past?"
Daryl glared at Cecilia's mocking face and said, "Did you approach Skylar on purpose? Are you trying to ruin our wedding?"
Hearing this, Cecilia felt a pang of hurt.
So that was what he thought of her, that she was a clingy person. His nervousness made Cecilia feel even worse, showing how much he cared for Skylar and feared she would ruin things for him.
"Believe it or not, running into Skylar today was purely a coincidence!" She turned her face away, not wanting to face Daryl's cold and distant expression.
"Do you think I'm an idiot? How could it be so coincidental? You really know how to act" Daryl glared at Cecilia, his eyes full of sarcasm.
