Chapter 773 A Woman's Intentions

Susan immediately laughed and said, "She's young and beautiful, and so pitiful. I better not get in the way. This time, you can handle it yourself. I'm going upstairs to take a shower!"

With that, Susan turned and left.

Seb, however, called out to her back, "How do you want me to handle it?"

Hearing this, Susan paused, turned around, and smiled at Seb. "Do as you please!"

Then she went straight upstairs.

Even though she said that, once upstairs, Susan opened the curtains and watched until the driver arrived and Seb got into the car. Only then did she grab her pajamas and head to the bathroom.

More than two hours later, the night was deep, and the kids were asleep, but Seb still hadn't returned.

Wearing her pajamas, Susan came downstairs. The living room was quiet, and through the window, she saw the cold and desolate night outside, with only the distant streetlights casting a dim glow.

At this moment, Mary came out of Spring's bedroom and saw Susan standing by the window looking out.

"Ms. Wilson, hasn't Mr. Anderson come back yet?" Mary asked with a frown.

Seeing Mary, Susan felt a bit awkward and replied with a smile, "Yeah, I'm just thirsty and came down to get some water."

"I'll get it for you," Mary said as she headed to the kitchen.

"I can do it myself," Susan said as she followed her into the kitchen.

The kitchen was brightly lit, and Mary handed a cup of warm water to Susan.

"Thank you," Susan said, taking the cup and sipping it.

In fact, she wasn't thirsty at all; she just came down to see why he hadn't returned yet.

At this moment, Mary glanced at Susan and then smiled, saying, "Ms. Wilson, it's almost eleven o'clock. Why don't you call Mr. Anderson?"

"I think he should be back soon," Susan said with a smile.

In truth, she was feeling a bit uneasy.

She had thought Seb would return quickly, just to pay Cecilia's hospital fees and comfort her a bit.

But it had been over two hours, and she was starting to feel anxious despite her earlier pretense of being generous.

What was she anxious about? She didn't believe anything would happen just because Seb went to the hospital to see Cecilia, but she still felt uneasy.

"After all, it's so late. Nowadays, girls are very realistic, and you have to be cautious. Of course, Mr. Anderson is definitely good, but those girls are just too shameless!" Mary kindly reminded her.

Susan could only smile at Mary's words. "It's late, you should get some rest."

"Oh, okay." Mary realized she had said too much and awkwardly smiled before quickly returning to her room.

After Mary went back to her room, Susan quietly went upstairs.

After pacing back and forth in her room a few times, Susan couldn't hold back any longer.

She took out her phone, intending to call Seb, but at the last moment, she dialed the driver's number instead.

The phone rang twice before the driver answered.

"Hello, this is Susan," Susan said first.

Susan was quite familiar with the driver employed by Seb in Northstar City, as he had been driving her, Hayden, and Spring around these past few days.

"Ms. Wilson, how can I help you?" The driver asked politely.

Susan smiled and asked, "I wanted to ask if Seb is still at the hospital? When are you coming back?"

The driver immediately replied, "I'm waiting at the hospital entrance for Mr. Anderson. He hasn't come out yet."

Hearing this, Susan frowned and asked, "Which hospital is it? Is it far from the villa?"

"It's very close to the villa, only about a three-minute drive," the driver answered.

Upon hearing this, Susan made a decision within two seconds. "Please come back to the villa and pick me up. I want to visit Miss Thorne."

"Okay, I'll be there right away," the driver said before hanging up.

Susan didn't expect the hospital where Cecilia was staying to be so close to their villa. Seb hadn't returned in over two hours, and although she trusted him, she still felt uneasy. So, she decided to go check on the situation herself.

The next moment, Susan quickly changed her clothes and put on a coat.

Three minutes later, Susan was standing outside the villa with her handbag, waiting.

In the night, a luxury car soon pulled up in front of Susan.

The driver got out and opened the back door for Susan.

A few minutes later, Susan was walking on the clean floors of the hospital.

At this time, the hospital lights had dimmed, and Susan quickly found Cecilia's ward.

Susan saw that the door to the ward was ajar, and through the crack, she could hear Cecilia's low sobs.

Susan frowned and stood behind the ajar door to listen to what Cecilia was crying about.

"Mr. Anderson, I'm really scared. Can you stay with me a little longer?" Cecilia's voice was choked with sobs.

Through the crack, Susan saw Cecilia wearing a white and blue striped hospital gown, her hair tied in a high ponytail. Even in a hospital gown, her natural beauty was undeniable.

She still had a bandage on her forehead, her face was haggard, and her slender body trembled slightly from crying.

If Susan didn't know Cecilia's intentions, even she would feel sympathy for her, let alone men with a protective instinct and a sense of chivalry.

The next moment, Susan's eyes turned to Seb, who was standing by the window. Due to the angle, she couldn't see his face or know his expression, but she was curious about how he would handle the situation.

Then, Seb's deep voice came through the crack in the door.

"Cecilia, the doctor just examined you again. It's a mild concussion. You just need to rest here for a few days, and then take it easy when you get home. I've arranged for a nurse to come in tomorrow morning, so you won't be alone. This hospital has excellent security, so you're perfectly safe. And I've taken care of all the medical expenses. I'm not sure what else I can do." Seb's voice was cold and helpless, but polite, leaving no room for criticism.

Hearing Seb's words, Susan smiled with relief.

It turned out that in these two hours, he had the doctor check Cecilia again, which explained why he hadn't returned. It seemed she had misunderstood him a bit.

However, Cecilia cried even harder after hearing this.

"Mr. Anderson, I know we haven't known each other long, but…I've developed feelings for you. It's selfish, I know, but…I want you to stay. I can't help how I feel. Don't you feel even a little something for me?"
