Chapter 729 Deliberate

Upon hearing this, although Isabella felt shy, she still raised her chin and said, "Of course, that's the whole point!"

"Can you be a bit more reserved?" Susan teased.

"I'm already in my thirties. Any more 'reserved' and I'll be collecting retirement benefits. No more teasing from you, I'm embracing life!" Isabella declared, waving goodbye as she sashayed away with her bag.

Susan shook her head with amusement but felt a twinge of envy for Isabella. She had finally come through her hardships and found her happiness.

Looking down at her watch, it was not yet four o'clock. Leon had time to accompany Isabella, which meant the crisis at Prosperity Group was completely resolved.

Thinking about her own situation with Seb, Susan felt a bit downhearted.

To avoid feeling more melancholic, Susan buried herself in work. It wasn't until after quitting time that Dorothy came to call her, and she finally looked up from her files.

"Susan, don't work so hard. Look, it's already dark outside," Dorothy pointed out.

Only then did Susan realize it was almost six o'clock. The pitch-black night wind was blowing, making it feel chilly.

"I still have a bit to finish. You go ahead," Susan said with a smile.

"I'll wait for you for a bit," Dorothy replied.

"No need. Don't you have a class tonight? Be careful on your way," Susan advised.

"Alright," Dorothy nodded and then turned to leave.

After Dorothy left, Susan furrowed her brow.

Dorothy's life was very quiet now. She worked during the day and studied at night, saying she wanted to apply for graduate school at Averlake.

Susan knew the real reason behind Dorothy's choice: Amanda. While she wished Dorothy wouldn't put her life on hold, she understood the maternal instinct that drove her. The pain of a child's absence could drive anyone to extremes.

So, Susan fully supported Dorothy and hoped she could quickly go abroad for further studies.

It wasn't until after six o'clock that Susan finished her work.

By then, she was feeling a bit hungry. She shut down her computer, put on her coat, and left the office with her bag.

As soon as she stepped out of the office building, the biting night wind hit her face.

Susan instinctively hugged herself tightly. Just as she was about to step down the stairs, she glanced up and saw a black stretch Mercedes parked under the dim lights, with a tall man in a black cashmere coat standing in front of it.

Seeing that familiar figure, Susan felt a pang of nervousness!

The next moment, Susan told herself, 'Seb is definitely not here for you; it's just a coincidence. Why are you so nervous?'

Then, Susan lowered her eyes and walked down the stairs, heading in the opposite direction.

However, when Seb saw Susan walking away, he quickly stepped forward and blocked her path in just a few strides!

Susan looked up and saw that Seb was holding a bouquet of her favorite lilies.

Maybe because it was too cold, the water droplets on the lily petals had already frozen, and the flowers were wilted.

"I was standing right there, and you really didn't see me?" Seb said with a playful smile, looking at Susan.

Seeing his unusual behavior and the smile on his face, Susan frowned. "Didn't you say you never wanted to see me again? What are you doing here today? Seb, have you lost your mind?"

Susan stared at Seb in confusion. Even though he could be a bit moody sometimes, it was never this severe. Or did he have amnesia and forget everything that happened a few days ago?

At this point, Seb's smile faded, and he said very seriously, "Susan, I'm here to apologize and hope you can forgive me."

Hearing this, Susan looked even more puzzled and asked, "Apologize? For what? What have you done to me?"

Seb knew Susan was very upset, so he said softly, "It's cold and windy here, not a good place to talk. Why don't we find somewhere to sit and talk?"

Susan glanced at the suddenly humble Seb but didn't appreciate it at all. Her voice remained stiff as she said, "I have nothing to talk about with you. If you have something to say, say it here. If not, I'm heading home!"

With that, Susan turned to leave.

Hearing this, Seb quickly caught up and said rapidly, "Okay, okay, I just didn't want you to get cold. Since you don't mind, I'll say it here."

At this point, Susan stopped and glared at Seb. "Say it quickly. My time is precious!"

"Yes, yes," Seb nodded submissively.

Seeing Seb like this, Susan was both amazed and puzzled. What was going on with him? Did he realize he misunderstood her and came to apologize? But how could this misunderstanding be resolved so easily?

The next moment, Seb said seriously, "Susan, it's all my fault. I misunderstood you."

Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but let out a cold laugh. "Seb, are you going by your gut feeling again?"

In response, Seb looked serious and remorseful. "Actually, I misunderstood you on purpose."

Hearing this, Susan's eyes widened. "What did you say?"

Then, Seb explained, "I knew Andrew would involve you when Prosperity Group was in crisis. He wanted me to lose control, to go crazy. He knew how important you are to me. You're the only one who can make me lose my composure. He wanted to use that against me."

At this moment, Susan couldn't believe her ears.

Seb had been pretending all along.

Susan touched her head, the cold wind messing up her hair, and Seb's words chilled her heart once again.

"You mean you misunderstood me on purpose? You were acting for Andrew?" Susan asked in disbelief.

That day, he was so heartless towards her, saying such cruel things to humiliate her. It turned out it was all an act for Andrew to see.

Susan felt herself stagger, almost falling.

Seb quickly stepped forward and caught her. "Susan?"
