Chapter 627 Pleading
"You just don't want me to see them, do you?" Susan couldn't listen to a word Seb was saying at that moment.
Seeing Susan getting agitated, Seb frowned, then took two steps forward and sat by the hospital bed. "I promise you, the kids will come back in half a month, but you have to promise me that you'll only be discharged when the doctor allows it, and then rest at home for a week before going back to work."
"You..." Susan was confused. Just a moment ago, he seemed to wish she were dead, and now he was acting all concerned, insisting she stay in the hospital and rest. Susan suddenly couldn't understand what was going on in Seb's mind.
Before Susan could say anything, Seb continued, "If you don't follow my arrangements, the kids will spend the entire summer abroad."
"No! Please, no." Hearing this, Susan quickly shook her head.
Seeing the fear in her eyes, Seb's lips curled into a faint smile because she had finally given in.
Then, as if realizing Seb's scheme, Susan felt a bit humiliated and pretended to be sulky. "I know how to take care of my own body, but you better not forget what you said. I must see the kids in half a month!"
Seb nodded in satisfaction. "I always keep my word."
At that moment, Susan's eyes caught the red wine stains on Seb's white shirt, reminding her of how she had impulsively thrown a glass of red wine in his face the night before.
Thinking about last night, Susan felt a bit embarrassed. She ran her fingers through her hair and looked away.
Seb noticed Susan's gaze on his shirt. He looked down and brushed his fingers over the stains. "Don't you think you owe me a new shirt?"
Susan glanced at Seb's shirt, then turned her face away, saying jealously, "The shirts I buy probably won't suit your taste, right? By the way, that Esme you had dinner with last night is quite famous in Maple Valley now. She has a great fashion sense. Why don't you let her buy you one? I can reimburse you."
Hearing this, Seb said, "You're jealous, aren't you?"
Susan was infuriated by this and sat up, throwing a pillow at Seb!
Seb reached out to catch the pillow and couldn't help but laugh. "The doctor said you're in poor health, but you seem to have plenty of fight left in you. First, the wine, now the pillow... lucky for you I'm a gentleman. Otherwise, you'd be picking your teeth up off the floor."
Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but smile.
Seeing her smile, Seb was momentarily taken aback, feeling a sense of relief.
Seeing him staring at her, Susan thought he seemed to be in a good mood. She figured it might be a good time to bring up George's situation. After all, she couldn't just watch George get kicked out of the legal profession.
The next moment, Susan tentatively asked, "Seb, can we sit down and have a calm conversation?"
"We're sitting and talking right now," Seb said.
"I'm serious," Susan said, frowning.
Seb looked at Susan for a moment, then leaned back in his chair, saying nonchalantly, "You want to talk about George, don't you?"
Seeing Seb's attitude, Susan frowned and said, "Since you already know, there's no need for me to say more. I know George well, and you should too. He's an honest man. I hope you can clear his name soon. After all, he's part of the Anderson family. If he falls from grace, it will bring shame to you too!"
Hearing this, Seb stared at Susan for a while, then forced a smile. "Are you saying I orchestrated all this?"
"Isn't that the case?" Susan's sharp eyes were fixed on him, but she couldn't read any emotion from his expression.
"I didn't expect you to think of me that way." After a long time, Seb sighed.
"I know you must have acted out of impulse and anger because George upset you," Susan said, not thinking about anything else but clearing George's name.
Seb's expression showed a hint of anger. He nodded several times before standing up and saying, "Fine, fine. If that's the case, I can't argue. But I have to say, I can't help with George's situation!"
Hearing this, Susan anxiously said, "You must have a way."
"Susan, don't be so self-righteous. If I hated George, I'd want him completely ruined. Why would I save him? You need to give me a reason," Seb said, hands in his pockets.
Susan stared at Seb, about to say something.
At that moment, the door to the ward was suddenly pushed open!
Susan looked up to see George standing at the door, out of breath.
Seeing George, Susan frowned.
Seb's eyes darkened when he saw George.
The next moment, George quickly walked to the bedside, his eyes scanning Susan anxiously. "I heard you fainted. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Susan said.
Seeing George's worried eyes on her, Susan felt uneasy. She glanced at Seb, whose face had grown even darker.
"How did you faint? Did the doctor say you're okay?" George asked, still worried.
"George, I'm really fine. Don't worry," Susan quickly replied.
At this point, Seb coldly said, "She's perfectly fine. I'll take care of her and make sure she's okay. You should worry about yourself!"
Hearing this, George looked up.
