Chapter 1166 We Are Just Strangers

Daryl reached out and took the fifty-dollar bill from Douglas' hand, then instructed, "Head back to Fields Corporation."

"Yes, Mr. Fields." Douglas nodded and immediately turned the steering wheel to make a U-turn.

Daryl looked down at the fifty-dollar bill in his hand, lost in thought.

After a busy morning, Cecilia finally finished an interview for this issue.

As she was stretching in her swivel chair, Marcella came over from the neighboring team.

"Marcella, why are you so free today, coming over to see me?" Cecilia asked with a smile.

Marcella sighed before sitting down across from Cecilia.

"Why the long face? What happened?" Cecilia asked with a frown.

"It's because of the advertising task Ms. Lawson gave us. Each team has to bring in $104,000 a month. I can't handle it. Half the month has passed, and our team has only brought in $30,000," Marcella complained.

Hearing this, Cecilia frowned as well, because she was doing even worse than Marcella.

Marcella then asked, "Cecilia, how much have you brought in?"

Cecilia held up seven fingers.

Marcella's eyes widened. "Seventy thousand dollars?"

"Seven thousand dollars," Cecilia replied helplessly.

Hearing this, Marcella looked distressed. "What are we going to do? I heard that the other teams have almost completed their tasks. Now I'm the worst, and I didn't expect you to be even worse. By the way, don't you have some wealthy friends? Why not ask them to have their husbands help out?"

Cecilia shook her head. "I don't want to mix friendship with business."

Marcella tried to persuade her, "I heard that if we can't bring in the ad revenue and the show doesn't do well, Ms. Lawson will cut the underperforming teams. Your financial personalities team is already weak, and you haven't been able to get any big names for interviews in the past two years. If you can't bring in the ad revenue this time, the team might get cut."

"Is it that serious?" Cecilia was at a loss upon hearing this.

She had just taken over the financial personalities team and hadn't achieved anything yet. Was it going to be cut already?

"You should try to get a couple of influential financial moguls from Maple Valley on the show. Preferably young, handsome, and unmarried ones to boost the ratings. Alright, I have to go and try to get some ads myself, or I won't get my bonus this month." After a few more words, Marcella turned and left.

After Marcella left, Cecilia felt a bit agitated. 'Where am I going to get ads, and where am I going to find some financial moguls from Maple Valley?'

Cecilia naturally thought of Susan and Isabella, but she didn't want to ask them for ads because it would mix friendship with business. Inviting Leon and Seb on her show didn't seem appropriate either, as she knew Isabella and Susan didn't want their husbands to constantly appear in the media.

After thinking for a long time, Cecilia had no choice but to send countless invitations to the email addresses of well-known companies in Maple Valley, hoping that someone might agree.

Of course, even on weekends, Cecilia didn't rest. She took Vogue Vista to many luxury brands in the bustling city center to solicit ads. After two days of walking, her feet were blistered, but she still had no results.

Sitting on a bench in the bustling city center, Cecilia rubbed her blistered feet and frowned. 'Where did the other team leaders get their ads from? Why? Despite my efforts, couldn't I even bring in $14,000 in ad revenue?'

As Cecilia bent down to rub her feet, a pair of men's feet in polished shoes suddenly appeared in her view.

Seeing the man's feet, Cecilia frowned and then looked up.

The next moment, Cecilia saw a handsome man's face, and he was smiling at her.

Suddenly seeing Daryl, Cecilia's face stiffened.

Then, Daryl sat down next to Cecilia and handed her a bottle of soda.

Seeing the bottle of soda, Cecilia didn't even blink and turned her face away, completely ignoring him.

Daryl said, "This is the busiest commercial area. The nearest place to buy water is at least 900 feet away. I can tell you're thirsty, and you're wearing high heels today. You probably can't walk much further!"

"This is my own business. Thanks for the reminder," Cecilia said coldly.

At this moment, Daryl's eyes suddenly glanced at the promotional brochures for advertising in Cecilia's hand and said, "It seems like Vogue Vista isn't doing well if you, the team leader, have to come out and solicit ads."

Hearing this, Cecilia sternly warned Daryl, "Mr. Fields, we are strangers now. Please don't talk to me. I don't have the time or the mood!"

"I'm not chatting with you. I'm just asking," Daryl said innocently.

"Please stay away from me." Cecilia frowned, feeling that Daryl was pestering her.

Today, he appeared here so coincidentally, clearly following her.

Daryl spread his hands and said, "This bench is for people who are tired from shopping to rest. You have the right to sit here, and I think I have too."

Hearing this, Cecilia stood up in annoyance.

However, she had worn high heels for the sake of appearance today, which was a big mistake.

After walking all morning, her feet hurt so much that she couldn't bear it.

The next moment, Cecilia had no choice but to sit back on the bench. She thought, 'Who does he think he is? I wouldn't be affected by him. Why should I leave just because he comes?'

So, Cecilia completely turned her back to Daryl.

After sitting for a while and seeing that Cecilia was really ignoring him, Daryl lowered his head and then took out another bottle of soda from his pocket. He opened the cap and drank it.

After drinking, he deliberately made a sound. "So refreshing!"

Hearing Daryl's words behind her, Cecilia had already seen him drinking water out of the corner of her eye.

To be honest, his drinking made Cecilia feel even thirstier.

She looked ahead. Maple Valley was an international metropolis, and this street was the busiest, filled with luxury and high-end brands. The street was strictly managed, with a drink selling point every 1500 feet. Moreover, the rent here was so high that even selling drinks couldn't cover it.
