Chapter 310 Kiss

With a chorus of screams, the power flicked back on!

A few seconds later, as Susan's eyes adjusted to the bright light, she couldn't help but shout, "The power's back! We can finally get outta here!"

Seb's deep eyes caught the sudden light with a hint of disappointment. The return of power meant Susan would leave him.

Susan spun around, ready to bolt, when suddenly everything went dark again.

Startled, Susan screamed, "What the heck is going on?"

Seb immediately steadied her. "Watch out!"

Then, a weird noise came from somewhere, like a bird or some other critter.

"What is that sound?" Susan grabbed Seb's arms, genuinely freaked out.

"I have no clue." The noise was too bizarre; Seb was stumped.

The sound came again.

Terrified, Susan clung to Seb's neck, her voice shaking. "Is it a ghost?"

"A ghost?" Seb raised an eyebrow.

As a guy, he never bought into that stuff, nor was he scared of it.

"I'm scared!" Susan tightened her grip around Seb's neck.

Seb's eyes scanned the darkness around them, figuring the noise was probably from an insect or bird. He was about to comfort Susan.

But he could feel Susan trembling in his arms and her tight embrace. His eyes suddenly shifted.

Seb thought, 'Just this once, let me be selfish. Opportunities to be this close to her are rare, let alone having Susan in my arms.' Though it felt a bit opportunistic, Seb didn't feel the least bit guilty.

The next moment, Seb's arms tightened around Susan, his hand gently stroking her back as he softly said, "Don't worry; I'm here with you."

"Why isn't the power back on yet?" Susan anxiously looked around.

"A citywide blackout won't last long; don't stress," Seb reassured her.

Then, the strange noise came again.

Terrified, Susan clung to Seb's neck and shouted, "What is making that noise?"

Seb frowned, then decisively lowered his head and sealed her lips with his!

Susan's next words were swallowed back.

Seb's kiss was gentle, and Susan immediately forgot to resist, forgot everything, letting him kiss her.

Under Seb's nibbling, the fire in Susan's heart was gradually ignited.

It was still the familiar taste, the aura that could completely envelop her. At this moment, she was entirely covered by Seb's presence, completely oblivious to her surroundings.

Susan clearly felt her heart beating faster and faster.

This feeling of heart palpitations was something only Seb had given her. George had never made her feel this way, and even with her first love, Andrew, she had never felt her heart race so intensely.

From those heart palpitations, Susan knew one thing for sure that she still loved Seb, and she’d never love anyone else again. What a painful realization.

So what if she loved Seb? She could never let go; she and Seb were never going back to the way things were.

But why couldn’t she bring herself to push Seb away right now? Susan’s hands rested on Seb’s shoulders, feeling so soft and powerless.

Rationally, she knew she should push Seb away, but instinctively, her hands had no strength.

Anyway, it was pitch dark all around. Pushing Seb away would still leave her scared, so why not let herself indulge just this once?

The kiss lasted for a solid five or six minutes until she was almost suffocated by Seb, and suddenly, the surroundings lit up.

The power was back!

Cheers erupted around them, but they two seemed oblivious, still locked in their kiss.

Until Susan opened her eyes, the bright light stinging her, she snapped back to reality and forcefully pushed him away.

Seb, caught off guard, took a step back, stumbling slightly.

Susan reached up and wiped her swollen lips with the back of her hand. At this moment, she was utterly embarrassed and annoyed!

Seeing Susan’s awkward state, Seb’s lips curled up, his eyes filled with a glimmer of hope, his expression satisfied.

His expression only made Susan angrier. She shouted at him fiercely, "What are you smiling at? Is it funny?"

Seb frowned, about to explain.

Susan didn’t want to hear him speak, turned around, and ran off in her high heels.

Watching Susan’s retreating figure, Seb’s lips curled into a smile.

Susan ran out of the terrace, feeling as annoyed as she could be. 'They say men can be blinded by lust, but it turns out women are no exception. What was wrong with me just now? Is it because I’ve been without a man for too long?' Susan thought self-mockingly.

Re-entering the banquet hall, Susan’s eyes widened.

The banquet hall was a mess, with food and drinks scattered everywhere, tables and flowers toppled over, some broken. Waiters were busy cleaning up, and there were even some injured men and women being helped out of the hall.

Seb’s words were proven true. The temporary blackout had caused panic, and with so many people in the hall, a stampede was highly likely once someone panicked.

At this moment, someone suddenly patted her on the shoulder!

Susan turned around and saw Isabella in a red dress standing in front of her.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Seeing Isabella, Susan anxiously looked her over from head to toe.

Isabella smiled smugly. "I’m fine, but some people weren’t so lucky!"

Seeing Isabella’s gloating eyes looking in a direction, Susan turned to follow her gaze.
