Chapter 1360 Birthday
A few days later, one afternoon, Susan and Isabella were chatting in a café.
"You look so refreshed lately, your skin is glowing. Leon must be treating you really well, huh?" Susan teased, eyeing Isabella playfully.
Isabella knew Susan was poking fun at her, so she put down her coffee cup and laughed, "As if Seb doesn't love you. You better be careful, or you might end up pregnant with your fourth kid!"
"Don't even joke about that!" Susan's expression immediately changed.
The last thing she wanted was to be pregnant again. She couldn't handle having a fourth child; it would mean her whole life would be consumed by raising kids.
Seeing Susan's reaction, Isabella covered her mouth and said, "Hey, it's not my fault. You need to keep Seb in check. He's the one who can get you pregnant."
Susan lowered her head, troubled. "I'm already stressed about it. Can you not make it worse?"
Noticing Susan's distress, Isabella stopped laughing and frowned. "You don't think you're actually pregnant, do you?"
Susan looked up at Isabella, frowning. "My period is three days late. I'm terrified I might be pregnant. I've been praying to God, begging not to be."
Susan suddenly clasped her hands together, praying fervently.
Isabella covered her face and sighed.
"By the way, didn't we plan to meet Cecilia? Why isn't she here yet?" Isabella asked.
Susan replied, "She texted me earlier. Thaddeus's first birthday is tomorrow, and the Fields family is making a big deal out of it, so she can't make it today."
Hearing this, Isabella smiled. "Time flies. Thaddeus is already turning one."
"Yeah," Susan agreed with a smile.
"Since Thaddeus's birthday is tomorrow, should we join the celebration? Cecilia's family isn't in Maple Valley, so we could show our support," Isabella suggested.
Susan shook her head. "I already asked. The Fields family decided not to invite anyone. It's just a family thing. You know, Daryl still hasn't accepted Thaddeus, and it's a sensitive issue."
Isabella cursed, "Daryl is such a jerk. If I see him, I'll give him a piece of my mind!"
"Let's not make things worse. How about we pick out a gift for Thaddeus and give it to Cecilia later?" Susan suggested with a smile.
"That's probably best," Isabella nodded.
The next day, at the Fields Mansion.
That evening, the mansion was brightly lit, and the Fields family gathered in the living room. Finn and the servants stood by.
Everyone's attention was on Thaddeus, who was sitting on Azalea's lap on the sofa. Thaddeus was dressed in a red outfit with a matching hat, looking like an adorable little lord.
Cecilia stood close to Azalea, while Daryl and Elijah stood on the other side.
A large marble table was set with various items for games.
Azalea held Thaddeus on her lap, and he eagerly reached for the items on the table with his chubby hands.
Azalea laughed, "Look, Thaddeus can't wait!"
"Mom, let's start," Elijah said with a smile, while Daryl remained silent.
"Let's begin," Azalea commanded.
Cecilia took Thaddeus and placed him in front of the table, crouching down to whisper in his ear, "Thaddeus, grab whatever you like!"
Thaddeus's big round eyes scanned the table, and he suddenly grabbed a piece of bread!
Everyone burst into laughter.
Cecilia frowned, worried he might choke, and urged, "Put the bread down and grab something else!"
Azalea laughed and said to Cecilia, "Don't worry too much. Kids naturally go for food. Look at how cute that bread is, shaped like a little bunny with red bean eyes. Even I find it adorable."
Cecilia smiled. Azalea was right; it made sense. She was just being a concerned mother.
Elijah clapped his hands, "Now it's time for gifts! I'll go first!"
Elijah brought out a gift from behind the sofa.
"Thaddeus, this is from your uncle," Elijah said, placing a remote-controlled toy car on the table.
Thaddeus loved the car and immediately started playing with it.
"This is from Grandma. I wish you a long, healthy life," Azalea said, putting a small gold pendant around Thaddeus's neck.
"Thank your grandma," Cecilia urged Thaddeus.
Thaddeus, unable to speak yet, was fascinated by the gold pendant and kept touching it with his chubby hands.
Cecilia felt a surge of emotion.
Seeing everyone care for and love Thaddeus, she felt her decision to stay these past few months was justified.
Even though she and Daryl were estranged, Thaddeus deserved to be loved by his family and experience happiness.
Even Finn and the servants gave Thaddeus gifts, simple toys and stuffed animals, but filled with heartfelt blessings. Cecilia thanked each of them.
Only Daryl hadn't given a gift yet. Cecilia glanced at him, seeing him stand expressionless beside Azalea. She felt a pang of disappointment. Even the servants had shown their love, but Thaddeus's own father had done nothing. She felt let down for Thaddeus.
Azalea looked at Daryl and smiled, "Daryl, where's your gift for Thaddeus? Don't keep it hidden, bring it out."
