Chapter 710 Prostitute
"Was it really Andrew who did it?" Susan stared at Seb with wide, shocked eyes.
She'd harbored suspicions about Rylee's accident, but for Seb to confirm it so directly... he must have something concrete.
Susan knew Andrew was unscrupulous and would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. But murder? That was a new level of depravity, one she couldn't have imagined.
Seb nodded and said, "Although I don't have concrete evidence yet, but I'm certain Andrew orchestrated Rylee's accident. He wanted to stop her from transferring her shares to me. Her death would've made him, as her husband, the sole inheritor of her assets."
Hearing this, Susan was stunned for a long time. She then touched her face with both hands and said, "This is terrifying. He actually did something like this. Andrew is such a bastard!"
"Andrew failed to seize my power in Prosperity Group this time. I don't think he'll let it go. I'm worried he might harm the kids and you, so I want to send you all to Aelistania just in case," Seb said, looking at Susan.
Susan shook her head without hesitation. "No! I want to stay in Maple Valley with you."
"No, you should go with the kids. I'll feel more at ease with you taking care of them," Seb said, frowning.
"How can I be at ease with you alone in Maple Valley? Didn't you say you'd send plenty of people to take care of Hayden and Spring?" Susan looked at Seb worriedly.
Seb remained silent for a long time.
Susan continued, "Actually, Andrew has no reason to target me now. We're divorced, and I have no say in Prosperity Group matters. I'm just an insignificant person. Besides, the kids leaving is only temporary. Let me stay by your side."
With that, Susan leaned on Seb's chest.
Seb gently stroked Susan's long hair, silently agreeing to her suggestion.
After a while, Susan suddenly thought of something and quickly asked, "Have you already figured out Andrew's next move?"
Seb never did anything without confidence. Sending the kids away was partly because they were his treasures and couldn't be harmed, and partly because he knew what Andrew was planning.
Hearing this, Seb looked down at Susan and smiled. "You're quite smart this time."
"What is his plan this time?" Susan knew she had guessed right.
Seb then said, "Recently, he's been in close contact with the top executives of Evergreen Ventures Group."
"Evergreen Ventures Group? Isn't that Prosperity Group's competitor?" Susan asked in surprise.
"Precisely because they're competitors, it's possible for Andrew to ally with them," Seb said.
Evergreen Ventures Group was also well-known in Maple Valley. Although not as powerful as Prosperity Group, it was still formidable, especially in real estate development, where it was the only company that could rival Prosperity Group.
In recent years, Evergreen Ventures Group and Prosperity Group had been competing fiercely. The chairman of Evergreen Ventures Group had publicly challenged Seb several times, showing that the two groups were indeed adversaries.
"You mean Andrew is allying with Evergreen Ventures Group to go against Prosperity Group? But what good would it do Andrew if Prosperity Group went bankrupt?" Susan asked, frowning.
Seb replied, "Andrew wouldn't let Prosperity Group go bankrupt. He just wants to oust me from the company. Evergreen Ventures Group only hates Prosperity Group for competing in Maple Valley's real estate market. Andrew's condition for allying with them is likely that Prosperity Group will withdraw from the market, leaving it entirely to Evergreen Ventures Group."
Hearing this, Susan frowned and said, "Real estate development in Maple Valley has been one of Prosperity Group's main businesses in recent years, and the profits are substantial. Andrew is playing with the company's future."
"Andrew only wants control of Prosperity Group. He doesn't care about sacrificing some profits," Seb said.
"What countermeasures do you have?" Susan asked, looking at Seb with concern.
"Let's wait and see," Seb said with a smile.
Seeing his calm demeanor, Susan propped her chin and said, "I see you're not nervous at all."
"Being nervous won't help; it will only make things worse," Seb said.
Susan propped her chin on her hand, studying him. "You make it seem so easy. Pretend to be down for the count, let your opponent get cocky, then BAM! You strike back when they least expect it." She was referring to his earlier act, the one that had fooled everyone, including her.
Seb knew she was referring to the time he pretended to be despondent. He smiled, took her hand, and said, "I had no choice back then. The sadness was real, but I hadn't lost my mind."
"You acted pretty well!" Susan said sarcastically.
"Thanks for the compliment," Seb nodded.
"Are you proud of yourself?" Susan frowned.
Seb laughed, pulling Susan's hand. "Aren't I supposed to agree with you?"
"Since when did you become so agreeable?" Susan teased, turning her head away with a mock-pout. "Don't tell me you've given up on tormenting me."
Hearing this, Seb hesitated and then said, "I was wrong before. I was too impulsive. Please forgive me."
Seeing his sincere eyes, Susan suddenly softened.
Although the past had caused her great pain, she couldn't stay angry.
She knew it was because she loved him too much.
The next moment, she grabbed Seb's ear and questioned, "Let me ask you, a few days ago, when you got drunk at the bar, I went to get you. There was a prostitute in a black dress trying to seduce you. Were you really drunk or just pretending?"
Hearing this, Seb rolled his eyes and stared at the ceiling, looking thoughtful.
"I saw everything clearly that day. Don't try to lie!" Susan tightened her grip, and Seb let out a yelp.
"I didn't even use much force, and you're already screaming?" Seeing his grimace, Susan raised an eyebrow.
"My ears are sensitive, okay?" Seb frowned.
"Don't change the subject. Answer me!" Susan demanded.
"How do you know she was a prostitute?" Seb suddenly asked.
