Chapter 133 Acting Spoiled
That evening, around seven, Seb showed up right on time at Susan's place.
"Mr. Anderson, hello!" Isabella greeted him politely as she opened the door.
Seb was a bit surprised to see her but managed a small smile. "Hello."
"Come on in. Susan's in the kitchen, and dinner's almost ready," Isabella said, then went to set the table.
After washing his hands, Seb sat at the table, watching Susan and Isabella bring out the dishes.
Susan finally looked at Seb and, seeing his confused expression, chuckled to herself.
Once everyone was seated, Susan spoke up, "Seb, Isabella bought all the ingredients today, and I did most of the cooking. Let's call this 'apprenticeship feast' okay?"
"Apprenticeship feast?" Seb asked.
Susan played innocent. "Yeah, since you'll be tutoring us for the CPA exam every evening, we thought we'd repay you with dinner."
Seb's expression darkened, but Isabella quickly jumped in, "Mr. Anderson, I heard you were helping Susan, so I asked to join. Passing the CPA exam is a big deal for us. I'm not very smart and have a weak foundation, so I begged Susan to let me join. Please accept me!"
Susan added with a smile, "I meant to call you but got busy cooking and forgot. Please let Isabella join for my sake? She's also with Prosperity Group, and her skills will benefit the company."
Susan knew Seb might refuse if she told him in advance because Isabella's presence would ruin their private time. But she needed to focus on passing the CPA exam.
Seb stayed silent, so Susan tried a different tactic.
Sitting across from him, she slipped off her shoe and rubbed his leg with her foot.
When Seb looked up, she gave him a pleading smile.
Seb turned to Isabella and said sternly, "My standards are high. You'll need to work hard to keep up. If you fall behind, I'll drop you, no exceptions, even if someone pleads for you."
He glanced at Susan, making it clear her pleas wouldn't work in the future.
"I'll work very hard, Mr. Anderson," Isabella nodded quickly.
"Let's eat," Seb said, picking up his utensils and starting to eat.
Seeing Seb agree, Susan and Isabella exchanged glances and smiled.
Since Seb was giving her some leeway, Susan made sure to butter him up during dinner, serving him multiple times. But Seb didn't even glance at her, clearly still upset.
Having two students like Susan and Isabella had its perks for Seb. He didn't have to do chores like washing dishes anymore. After dinner, someone would bring him water, and during breaks, there were fruit plates ready.
Seb's lectures were thorough, and he kept a stern face even during breaks. He was now a full-fledged teacher, and both Isabella and Susan treated him with utmost respect.
The evening's lessons flew by without a single laugh. Susan felt a bit stifled but learned a lot.
By ten o'clock, Seb was still on the sofa, showing no signs of leaving.
Isabella brought over her suitcase and said with a smile, "I'll be staying here tonight. It's a thirty-day intensive training, and I must pass the CPA exam."
Seb's brows furrowed as his eyes fixed on Isabella's suitcase, his expression darkening.
Susan quickly said with a smile, "Seb, it's getting late. You should go home and rest."
She picked up Seb's briefcase, ready to see him off.
Seeing Isabella carrying clothes into the bedroom, Seb stood up, gave Susan a resentful look, and walked out the door.
"I'll see you out!" Susan quickly followed, holding the briefcase.
In the dim hallway, Seb turned to Susan, clearly annoyed. "What's this all about?"
"What do you mean?" Susan mumbled, not meeting his eyes.
"I don't mind you inviting Isabella to the lessons, but why didn't you tell me? And why is she staying here?" Seb growled.
Susan hugged his arm, trying to soothe him. "We finish late, and it's too tiring and unsafe for Isabella to go back and forth. Moreover, she often stays here."
"And what about me?" Seb asked angrily.
Susan laughed, "You can go home and sleep!"
Seb snatched the briefcase from her hands and walked away.
Susan quickly caught up, hugging his waist from behind. "Please don't be mad. I just want to pass the CPA exam. Having Isabella here helps. I'll make it up to you after the exam, okay?"
She shook his arm, her pleading voice even sounding fake to herself, but she had heard that men usually fell for this.
Sure enough, it worked. Seb glanced at her and said, "I'll forgive you this time, but if you pull another stunt, see what happens."
"I won't dare again!" Susan promised, smiling.
In the dim light, Seb's deep eyes glanced at her, then he suddenly pulled her into his arms and gave her a slightly punishing kiss.
