Chapter 339 A Warm and Broad Embrace

Susan had barely taken a few steps when she heard an engine revving behind her. Next moment, the black Bentley screeched to a halt right in front of her!

She jumped back, totally freaked out.

She thought the car was there for Linda, but now it was blocking her path, leaving her totally confused.

Then, the rear window rolled down.

Seb's stern face popped out.

"Get in!" Seb barked at her.

Susan couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Mr. Anderson, you must be mistaken. The person you're looking for is still at work!"

With that, she turned to leave.

Seb frowned, then swung the car door open. Despite his wobbly steps, he quickly caught up with her and grabbed her arm.

Feeling his grip tighten, Susan struggled. "What the hell are you doing?"

"I need to talk to you!" Seb said, yanking her hand and trying to pull her along.

Susan shook him off and snapped, "I have nothing to talk to you!"

"Can't you just talk to me calmly?" Seb's brow furrowed, clearly annoyed by her attitude.

"Seb, seriously, leave me alone. I'm at my wit's end. Aren't you here for Linda? Go find her. You two can have lunch or whatever. Haven't you two been close lately? You sent red roses every day with your name on it. You're the hot gossip at Pioneer Accounting Firm. So, stop bugging me, okay?" All the pent-up frustration and stress of the past few days made Susan explode. Her hands flailed, and she was on the verge of breaking down.

Susan didn't want to go to jail, didn't want to be judged by others, and didn't want to leave Hayden and Spring. She was terrified because she knew if she went to jail, she'd lose custody of Spring.

Hearing Susan's outburst, Seb looked away for a moment, then smirked. "You're jealous!"

Susan's eyes locked onto Seb. After a moment of silence, she angrily denied, "Jealous? Me? You're dreaming!"

The more agitated Susan got, the more Seb seemed to enjoy it.

Finally, Susan got so mad she turned to leave. "You're impossible!"

But Seb reached out, grabbed her arm, and pulled her into his arms.

"Let go of me!" Susan struggled, but Seb's grip was like a vice.

Feeling desperate, Susan suddenly remembered Seb's injured leg and threatened, "If you don't let go, I'll kick your injured leg!"

"You wouldn't dare," Seb said with a smug smile.

"Who says I wouldn't?" Susan shot back, raising her chin defiantly.

"You just wouldn't," Seb said, looking down at her with a soft, tender gaze.

Meeting Seb's intense gaze, Susan bit her lip. She really wanted to jab him with her high heels.

But her heart softened. Kicking Seb's leg wouldn't solve anything. She didn't have the energy to take care of Hayden and Spring. If she ended up in jail, Seb would have to look after them. If his leg got worse, what would happen to Hayden and Spring?

Deep down, Susan knew she was just making excuses. As Seb said, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

Seeing Susan hesitate, Seb smirked and then yanked her into the back seat of the Bentley.

Once they were in, Leon started the engine, and the car rolled onto the road.

The car was eerily quiet. Susan pulled her hand away from Seb's grip and rubbed her wrist. Seb had held on so tightly that her wrist still throbbed with pain.

"Are you okay?" Seb asked, frowning at the red mark on Susan's wrist.

"I'm fine," Susan shook her head and then asked seriously, "So, what do you want to talk about?"

At this point, Susan was sure he wasn't here for Linda.

Hearing this, Seb frowned and said, "Tell me every single detail about how you took over the Skyreach Group budget case, from start to finish."

Seeing Seb's serious expression, Susan felt a bit embarrassed. She turned her face away and asked, "How did you know?"

"The cops are involved. You think you can keep it a secret?" Seb shot back.

Susan knew Seb wanted to help her, but she didn't want his help.

"This has nothing to do with you. You don't need to get involved," Susan pouted.

"Nothing to do with me?" Seb asked angrily.

Susan opened her mouth to speak, but then swallowed her words.

Seb knew that Susan not saying anything was already giving him some leeway. He was just her ex-husband and didn't have a direct connection.

So, Seb seriously said, "You're the mother of my kids. I can't let you go to jail!"

Hearing this and seeing Seb's serious and determined eyes, Susan suddenly felt a lump in her throat, and tears welled up in her eyes.

To be honest, no matter how strong Susan was, she was still a woman. The fear and frustration of the past two days had almost broken her, especially the questioning at the police station, which really tested her nerves and willpower.

The police investigation and questioning made Susan swear never to break the law. Fortunately, she was released; otherwise, she would have gone crazy.

Seeing Susan's eyes well up and her shoulders tremble, Seb frowned. Susan had touched the softest part of his heart.

Seb then reached out, hooked Susan's shoulder, and pulled her into his embrace.

Feeling herself in a warm and broad embrace, a sense of security filled Susan's heart.

She tried to push Seb away, but his strong arms held her tightly, making it impossible for her to move.
