Chapter 374 Gossip
Susan just stared at Seb, feeling totally helpless. "You spilled the beans; did you even think about my pride?"
Seb just grinned, grabbed her hand, and said, "Honestly, I gotta thank your cheating ex. If he hadn't messed up, I wouldn't have found a gem like you."
Susan turned away, a smile creeping up her face. Then she got all serious, "Should I track him down so you can thank him personally? Maybe even give him a medal or something?"
"Nah, no need. He might regret it and try to win you back, and then I'd be in trouble," Seb said, trying to keep a straight face.
Next moment, both of them were cracking up, holding hands and laughing like crazy.
After lunch, Seb took Susan's hand and they bounced out of the restaurant.
In the car, Susan spotted Ethan through the window, helping the hottie out of a nearby clinic. He was all over her, making sure she was okay and touching her face where Amelia had scratched her.
"Looks like Ethan's found his true love this time," Susan said, watching Ethan drive off in his convertible with the girl.
Seb just smirked, "Ethan might seem like a good guy, but he's still a player. His flings never last."
Susan couldn't help but snap back, "No matter what kind of woman it is, it's always you guys who end up hurting them."
"Hey, guys get their hearts broken too, okay?" Seb shot back.
"So, you put a lot into each relationship, but your feelings come and go like the wind, and you fall for any girl you see, right?" Susan glared at Seb.
"That's Ethan, not me," Seb quickly defended himself.
For some reason, Susan felt a bit sorry for Amelia. Even though she wasn't perfect, Ethan was the type whose feelings faded fast.
"Looks like Amelia's really fallen for Ethan this time," Seb suddenly said.
"Good or bad, once you're in love, heartbreak's just part of the deal," Susan said, feeling a bit emotional.
Seb sighed, "I shouldn't have taken you to that restaurant today. We ran into someone we shouldn't have."
Seeing Seb's guilty look, Susan hugged his arm.
Seb smiled, then out of nowhere, he pulled off the scarf around Susan's neck and tossed it onto the car seat.
"What are you doing? How am I supposed to go out like this?" Susan looked up at Seb, surprised, her hand covering her neck.
Then, Seb pulled out a new scarf from his suit pocket and wrapped it around her neck.
Susan's eyes widened. Seb's hands were a bit clumsy, but he carefully tied the scarf around her neck.
Susan glanced down and saw it was a silk scarf, simple and classy, way better than the one she had on before.
"Do you like it?" Seb asked, watching her closely.
Susan looked at the scarf and smirked, "It's alright."
Seb turned to Leon, who was driving, and said, "Leon, take us to the biggest mall in the city!"
"Yes, sir," Leon nodded.
Susan quickly protested, "Why are we going to the mall? I'm gonna be late for work."
Seb turned to her, all calm and collected, "Didn't you say the scarf was 'just alright'? Let's go get you one you really like."
"I'm totally happy with this one, no need for another," Susan grabbed his arm.
"Really? Sounds like you're fibbing," Seb teased.
Susan sighed and looked down at the scarf, "This is the best-looking scarf I've ever worn, thank you."
Then she leaned in, hugged Seb, and planted a big kiss on his cheek.
Seb's mouth twitched into a smile, his eyes lighting up with joy. "That's more like it."
He then told Leon, "Leon, no need."
"Got it," Leon nodded, and the car headed towards Pioneer Accounting Firm.
Seeing the car turn towards her office, Susan felt relieved. She muttered a curse at Seb under her breath, then rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes happily. "Did you ask your female secretary to buy the scarf?"
"I bought it myself," Seb replied.
Susan smiled, "No wonder."
"What do you mean?" Seb frowned.
"Your taste is so good," Susan opened her eyes and looked up at him with a grin.
"That's more like it," Seb said, then gently placed her head back on his shoulder.
Susan snuggled up to his arm and closed her eyes again.
Looking down at her, Seb covered her hand with his, resting his face against her head, and they stayed close together.
Susan walked into the office with a bounce in her step. The employees of Group Six were already at their desks, but there were still a few minutes before work started.
Ingrid, with her eagle eyes, came up and stared at the scarf around Susan's neck, "Ms. Wilson, your scarf is gorgeous!"
"Really?" Susan beamed and smoothed her hair.
"Of course, it's the latest Hermès model, simple, elegant, and worth thousands of bucks!" Ingrid said.
Susan touched the scarf, surprised, "So expensive?"
A female employee chimed in, "Ms. Wilson, you don't even know the price? Must be a gift from your boyfriend, right?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Ingrid laughed.
"Mr. Johnson is so generous. Ms. Wilson, you're really lucky. Mr. Johnson's got both looks and money," everyone teased.
Susan just smiled, feeling a warm glow inside.
