Chapter 1353 Quarrel

As soon as Susan walked into the living room, she saw Leon sitting on the couch, holding the younger child in his arms while the older one sat obediently at his feet. Her own kids were scattered on the carpet, surrounded by toys and snacks.

Susan smiled as she approached Leon, ruffling the older child's hair. "You haven't seen them in two weeks, huh? How'd you manage to stay away for so long?"

"I've been swamped, had to travel twice for work. Just got back from Skyhaven this afternoon," Leon replied, then changed the subject. "You said the kid was sick, but when I got here, he was full of energy and running around."

Caught in her lie, Susan hesitated but then calmly said, "If I didn't say that, would you have come to see Isabella and the kids?"

"I never said that," Leon replied, his face expressionless.

Susan could see that Leon looked weary and a bit thinner than before.

She continued, "Isabella hasn't been eating or sleeping well these past two weeks. You really think it's okay for her and the kids to stay at my place indefinitely? If you don't make up with her soon, it'll only get worse."

Leon scoffed, "I've spoiled her too much over the years. She needs to learn a lesson about being a wife. This time, I'm making sure she understands that."

Susan frowned, "Leon, are you serious? You know Isabella's temper. This could backfire."

Leon, undeterred, said, "She needs to change her attitude. She's a mother now, not a child. Running away with the kids every time she's upset isn't good for them. If she doesn't learn to control her temper, how will she raise them properly? I'm not taking her back until she changes."

Susan knew Leon was mostly venting. Men had their pride, and Isabella had embarrassed him at work. Rumors were flying around the office about Leon being henpecked, and it had clearly gotten to him.

Just then, Susan looked up and saw Isabella standing behind the couch.

Oh no, Susan thought, this is bad timing.

Isabella had heard everything. Susan had hoped to reconcile them, but now it seemed impossible.

Sure enough, Isabella angrily confronted Leon, "I knew you were fed up with me. You used to say you loved my straightforwardness, but now that you have someone new, I'm nothing to you, right?"

Leon spun around, shocked to see Isabella. He quickly regained his composure and snapped back, "Your straightforwardness has limits. You're not a child anymore. You're my wife and the mother of our kids. Do you know how embarrassing it is for me at work when you cause a scene? Now everyone thinks I'm having an affair with my assistant because you stormed into the office. If I were interested in someone else, I'd divorce you first. Don't question my integrity."

Leon had always been lenient with Isabella, but now he was standing his ground, which only made her angrier.

"Are you saying you want a divorce so you can be with your assistant?" Isabella demanded, pointing at him.

"If you don't want to come home, that's your choice. If you want a divorce, I won't stop you," Leon said coldly.

"I knew it! You just want to get rid of me. Fine, let's get divorced. Don't think I'll beg you to stay. I have my pride!" Isabella's words were fierce, but tears streamed down her face, showing how hurt she was.

Susan's head was pounding. She never expected their reunion to turn into such a disaster.

She regretted calling Leon over.

"Even if you begged, I wouldn't relent. If you can't change your temper, don't bother coming home," Leon said, putting the child down and turning to leave.

Isabella stepped forward, shouting at his back, "Leon, I won't change, and I'm not coming back!"

Seeing the argument escalate, Susan rushed to intervene, "Please, stop fighting! You're scaring the kids!"

Leon and Isabella's children were crying, and Susan's kids were also in tears.

The living room was filled with the sound of crying children.

Hearing the children's anguished cries, Leon, with a stern face, still chastised Isabella. "You crazy woman, can you stop screaming? Look at how you've frightened the children!"

Being called crazy pushed Isabella over the edge. She grabbed her hair in frustration, then looked at her crying children.

Suddenly, she picked up the younger child and shoved him into Leon's arms. "You take care of them. I have things to do."

"What are you doing?" Leon asked, quickly taking the child and trying to calm him down.

Isabella glared at Leon, "These are your kids too. You can't leave everything to me. I'm going out, and you'll have to take care of them."

She grabbed her purse and headed for the door.

Susan chased after her, grabbing her hand. "Isabella, are you crazy? Where are you going?"
