Chapter 879 The Truth Revealed
Seb nodded and said, "Yeah, the guy I hired checked it out. This Forgetting Spell under the bed makes whoever sleeps there forget their past feelings for a bit. But it's temporary, so the caster has to make the person fall for them during that time, or it's useless once the spell wears off."
Susan was still in shock, struggling to believe such a thing existed.
Seeing her freaked-out expression, Seb patted her back. "I'm stunned Ellie would do something like this, but what's even crazier is that she teamed up with Evergreen Ventures Group. She couldn't have pulled this off alone."
Susan looked at Seb, surprised. "Evergreen Ventures Group? Didn't you let them off the hook last time? You even gave them a piece of the real estate market. Why are they stabbing you in the back?"
Seb's eyes turned icy. "Some people are grateful, others just take advantage. When it's time to cut out the problem, you can't hesitate."
Susan had never seen Seb this cold before. She watched him clench his fist, his knuckles going white.
She reached out and touched his hand, understanding his feelings. Evergreen Ventures Group and Ellie had hit him where it hurt, and this time he wouldn't show mercy.
"Was the thing with Leon your doing?" Susan asked, looking at Seb.
She had a feeling Leon's situation was Seb's way of striking back.
Seb smirked. "Ellie and Evergreen Ventures Group thought Leon was a problem, so they set him up to get him kicked out of Prosperity Group. I just let them think they succeeded. This way, I could protect Leon, have him work for me secretly, and make the enemy drop their guard."
Susan finally relaxed. Leon wasn't in danger, and Seb seemed to have the Evergreen Ventures Group situation under control.
"Did you handle Evergreen Ventures Group?" Susan asked.
Seb hesitated, then gave a cold smile. "A big scandal hit Evergreen Ventures Group a few days ago. Their stock tanked, and shareholders are dumping their shares. They're on the edge of bankruptcy."
"They won't come after you, will they?" Susan grabbed Seb's hand, scared.
Seb smiled and squeezed her hand. "Don't worry. The chairman's been arrested for tax evasion, and the rest are too busy fighting over the scraps."
"That's good." Susan nodded, then suddenly asked, "What about Ellie?"
Seb's face darkened. "She knew it was over and came begging for forgiveness. I didn't have time for her and flew straight to here."
Susan grinned. "So, what's the plan for Ellie?"
Seb looked at her, gently touching her chin. "That's up to you."
Susan pouted. "This is your mess from past flings. Why should I decide?"
Seb wrapped his arms around her waist, smirking. "You've always been the one for me. Besides you, there's been no one else. You can't pin this on me!"
Susan playfully touched his lips. "It's your usual flirty behavior that made the secretary get the wrong idea."
Seb took the chance to push her down onto the soft bed. "But I only have eyes for you."
"What are you doing? Stop it!" Susan giggled, trying to wriggle free.
"Mommy!"
"Mom!"
Just as they kissed each other, the door flew open, shattering the intimacy of the moment.
Two adorable kids, one taller and one shorter, burst in.
Hayden and Spring ran in, catching Seb and Susan completely off guard.
They froze, tangled up on the bed, momentarily forgetting to move.
"Daddy? Daddy's back!"
"Daddy's back!"
Hayden and Spring were stunned for a second, then started cheering.
Susan quickly nudged Seb, and he got the hint, rolling off the bed.
By then, Spring had already run over, and Seb bent down to scoop her up.
"Daddy, what game were you playing with Mommy?" Spring asked, her big eyes full of curiosity.
"Uh..." For once, Seb was at a loss for words.
Susan, blushing, looked at the flustered Seb and chuckled.
Happiness had come so suddenly. She had been in despair, but now, the man she loved was back. Looking at Hayden and Spring, Susan felt truly happy. Happiness was simple; as long as her loved ones were with her, it was enough.
Hayden walked over, looking all serious. "Spring, don't ask stuff like that!"
"Why not?" Spring shot back.
Hayden frowned, looking like a little adult. "Grown-up stuff isn't for kids to ask about. You'll understand when you're older."
Susan realized Hayden was growing up and understanding more.
Seb and Susan exchanged a glance.
Seb then said to Spring, "Hey, I brought a bunch of toys for you and Hayden. Did you see them?"
"No." Spring's eyes lit up with excitement.
Seb put her down.
Hayden stepped forward, grabbing Spring's hand. "Want me to take Spring downstairs to play? Then you guys can..."
He left the sentence hanging, tilting his head and winking at Seb and Susan.
