Chapter 564 Made Up

"Seb, I'm sorry," Susan said, her voice heavy with guilt. She knew Carol was difficult, even cruel at times, but this situation, this betrayal, was ultimately her fault, hers and Catherine's.

Seb glanced at Susan and said, "Don't be silly, this has nothing to do with you."

"Do you really think it has nothing to do with me? Your mom and Rylee don't think so. They both believe that my mom and I planned all this in advance so that we could gain control of the Anderson family, of Prosperity Group..."

Hearing this, Seb chuckled. "Darling, I can barely control Prosperity Group myself these days, let alone you or your mother."

At this point, Susan quickly asked, "By the way, I heard your mom changed her will, and now the shares she holds in Prosperity Group will be split between you and Rylee, is that true?"

"Yes," Seb nodded.

"How did you know?" Seb questioned.

Hearing this, Susan couldn't look him in the eye and quickly replied, "I heard it from Rylee."

She naturally didn't dare to tell Seb that George had come to see her. After all, she and George almost got married, and Seb was so jealous. She didn't want to create more trouble, especially since they had just reconciled. She really didn't want to argue with Seb again; the feeling of two people in love fighting was really unpleasant.

After hearing Susan's words, Seb said, "I originally thought that Mom was just angry, that it was an empty threat, but I didn't expect Rylee would buy into it."

Sneaking a glance at him and seeing that he believed her, Susan felt relieved.

But then Seb asked, "By the way, why did Rylee say you were trying to drive a wedge between her and Andrew? What's that about?"

Seb's question left Susan speechless for a moment. After a long pause, she said, "Me driving a wedge between them? No way!"

"That's what I said," Seb agreed, his voice laced with frustration. "But she was adamant, even implied that you'd told me something, something you shouldn't have. I couldn't make sense of it."

At this point, Susan frowned.

Suddenly recalling the argument she had with Rylee earlier, she did remember Rylee accusing her of deliberately driving a wedge between her and Andrew.

What was going on? She had never said anything bad about Andrew in front of Rylee and had deliberately avoided mentioning him.

Thinking about Andrew being a bit unscrupulous, could it be that he was afraid their past relationship would be exposed, so he preemptively slandered her in front of Rylee? That way, if Rylee found out anything, she wouldn't believe what Susan said?

Thinking of this, Susan realized it must be Andrew's trick, and Rylee, being a simple person who listened to Andrew's every word, would believe whatever he said without hesitation.

Susan thought to herself, 'It seems I really need to be careful with Andrew. Back then, he could abandon our years-long relationship for wealth and status, and in the future, he might do anything despicable to protect his wealth and status.'

At this point, Susan thought, 'It's time to remind Seb. Andrew is now trusted by Carol and Rylee, and he is an ambitious person. This time, Carol's change of will might also have his influence. If Seb suffers because of him, it would be terrible.'

Then Susan said, "Seb, I always feel that Andrew is a bit unscrupulous, lacking the integrity a scholar should have. And Rylee is so kind and simple. Maybe I said something to Rylee that made her misunderstand."

Hearing this, Seb frowned and said, "Your concern is justified."

"What do you mean?" Susan asked, puzzled.

Seb looked at Susan and replied, "Andrew is indeed a bit of a sycophant. He now only listens to Mom, and Leon said that while I was away from Prosperity Group, he was busy getting close to the higher-ups and even recruiting people from outside, clearly trying to build his own power."

Hearing this, Susan said worriedly, "What should we do then? If he's unscrupulous..."

Susan was a bit anxious, and seeing Seb's thoughtful look, she quickly stopped talking.

"Are you very worried about Andrew?" Seb asked, puzzled.

Hearing this, Susan quickly said, "I feel that he definitely isn't doing any good with Mom. I'm afraid he might drive a wedge between you and your family for his own benefit."

Seb nodded.

Seeing his thoughtful look, Susan knew he had sensed it too.

Actually, Susan just wanted to remind Seb. Since her goal was achieved and Seb would be wary of Andrew in the future, that was good enough.

After a while, Seb patted Susan's shoulder. "I'll be on guard against Andrew in the future. You don't need to worry about this."

"Okay," Susan nodded.

Then Seb looked around and asked, "Where are Hayden and Spring?"

"Oh, I had Mary and Kathy take them to Dorothy's house for a few days. Dorothy went to Averlake to drop off Amanda, and I didn't want my mom to be alone at home," Susan replied, frowning.

Seeing Susan's expression, Seb asked, "By the way, what did you say about your mom earlier?"

"My mom..." Susan hesitated.

Seb stared at her for a moment and then said, "Did my mom give her a hard time?"

"How did you guess so accurately?" Susan asked in surprise.

Seb's mouth curled into a bitter smile. "I know my mom too well. Your mom dared to offend her this time, so naturally, she would want to teach her a lesson."

Hearing that Seb had guessed it, Susan said worriedly, "I went to beg your mom to let my mom go today. My mom is getting old and is timid. I'm afraid she can't take it."

Seeing Susan's worried eyes, Seb comforted her, "Don't worry. First, my mom won't go too far. Second, someone will handle this, so you don't need to worry."

Hearing this, Susan was stunned. "Who can handle this?"

"My dad," Seb said.

Hearing this, Susan immediately understood.

She still asked worriedly, "But will your mother listen to him? She hates him right now. What if he makes things worse?"

Seb, however, was not worried at all and smiled. "Trust me, darling. My father might not be able to fix broken hearts, but he knows how to handle a crisis. He was a high-ranking official, remember? This is his area of expertise."

Hearing this, Susan could only trust Seb.

But thinking about it, Todd was not an ordinary person. This matter should be a piece of cake for him, right?
