Chapter 66 Don't Challenge My Limits
"It seems Cynthia didn't tell you she came to see me," Susan said coldly.
"Cynthia came to see you?" Seb's eyebrows shot up as he grabbed Susan's wrist.
"Don't touch me!" Susan tried to yank her hand away.
But Seb's grip was firm, though not as crushing as the day before.
Then, out of nowhere, Seb grinned.
"What are you laughing at?" Susan snapped, feeling whiplash from his sudden mood swing.
"So, you're jealous." Seb's eyes locked onto hers.
"Bullshit Who's jealous?" Susan's heart raced, but she quickly denied it, avoiding his gaze. Deep down, she knew he was right. She was jealous. But what right did she have? He didn't love her.
Seb seemed oddly pleased by her reaction. He tilted her chin up, forcing her to look at him.
"Have you fallen for me?" His tone was more statement than question.
Susan shoved his arm away and turned to the sofa, gripping it for support. "How could I like you? That's ridiculous."
"Susan, you can't fool me." Seb stepped closer, his presence overwhelming her.
"In my heart, you're just the father of my child." Her voice wavered, betraying her true feelings.
"Is that all?" Seb grabbed her shoulders, spinning her around to face him.
Susan was trapped by his intense gaze. Why was he pushing her to admit her feelings? Did he have feelings for her too?
No, it couldn't be. Seb loved Cynthia. He'd never let go of her. How could he fall for Susan in just a few months? Maybe he felt guilty?
But in his eyes, she saw a flicker of something real. She knew that look. She'd been in love before.
Susan was torn. Should she admit her feelings and fight for him? Or deny everything and walk away for good?
Just as Seb waited for her answer, the doorbell rang. Kathy went to answer it, but Seb and Susan stayed locked in their stare.
A moment later, Kathy brought in a girl in a black uniform. "Mrs. Anderson, this young lady is here to see you."
Kathy was trying to help, sensing the tension. Seb let go of Susan's shoulders.
Susan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, 'Perfect timing. I had no idea how to answer Seb.'
"Are you Ms. Wilson?" the girl in the black uniform asked politely.
"Yes, that's me. Do you need something?" Susan nodded, trying to place the girl.
The girl pulled out an ID card from her bag, glanced at it, then handed it to Susan with a smile. "A week ago, you stayed at our hotel. You left your ID at the front desk in a hurry."
Susan's memory clicked. After Cynthia's visit, she'd been a mess. Isabella had called, and they'd ended up at a nearby hotel to cool off. She hadn't needed her ID since, so she hadn't realized it was missing.
"Thank you. But how did you know I live here?" Susan asked, taking the ID.
The girl smiled. "Our hotel is nearby. I saw you enter this community once and asked the security guard for your apartment number."
"Got it. Thanks again," Susan said, genuinely grateful.
Losing an ID and getting a replacement was a hassle. She was impressed by the hotel's service.
"Goodbye," the girl said and left.
As soon as the door closed, Susan turned and met Seb's icy stare, sending a chill down her spine.
Before she could speak, Seb demanded, "Who did you get a room with at a nearby hotel? Was it Henry?"
"What are you talking about?" Susan was shocked and furious at his assumption.
She turned to go upstairs, but Seb grabbed her arm, his anger palpable. He looked like an enraged lion, making her shiver.
"Susan, you're pregnant and still went to a hotel with Henry?" Seb spat out, not thinking straight.
Susan, seething, slapped him hard.
Seb was stunned, his eyes cold and piercing. Susan's hand trembled, unsure if it was from anger or the shock of hitting him.
After a long pause, Seb gritted his teeth and grabbed her arm. "You're the most shameless woman I've ever met. You were wrong first and still dare to hit me. Do you really think I won't do anything to you?"
"Go ahead, kill me and end it all!" Susan shot back, equally irrational.
"If it weren't for the child you're carrying, I'd end it right now!" Seb filled with angry.
Susan laughed bitterly. "You're so sure the child is yours."
"Susan, I'm warning you, don't push me!" Seb's eyes blazed with fury.
Kathy, seeing the argument escalate, rushed over to mediate. "Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Anderson, please, calm down!"
"Stay out of it!" Susan and Seb shouted at Kathy in unison.
Kathy stood there, unsure of what to do.
