Chapter 1170 Unavoidable Feelings
The next moment, Cecilia hung up, feeling utterly helpless. What should she do? The only people who could help her now were Susan and Isabella, and they were both unavailable.
After hesitating for a long time, she heard the cautious inquiries of her team members.
"Cecilia, haven't we met our advertising budget for this month yet?"
"I heard that if we don't meet it, our entire team's bonus for this month will be gone, is that true?"
"No way! The whole team's bonus? I still have a mortgage to pay!"
"My daughter's preschool tuition is due next month, several thousand dollars. I'm counting on this month's bonus!"
"Please, Cecilia, you have to find a way!"
Hearing her team members' complaints, Cecilia glanced at them and suddenly felt very guilty.
Then, Cecilia said, "Don't worry, everyone. I will find a way to secure the advertising fees. It won't affect your bonuses."
"That's great, Cecilia. You have to try your best!" The team members, hearing this, looked at Cecilia with hope.
Seeing their expressions, Cecilia pressed her lips together and nodded.
Sitting in front of her computer, Cecilia hesitated for a long time.
She had no choice but to consider asking Daryl for help.
Although it was hard to ask, Cecilia had no other options. She couldn't just watch so many people suffer along with her.
After making up her mind, Cecilia bit her lip and dialed Douglas's number.
The phone was quickly answered, and Douglas's voice came through. "Ms. Thorne, do you have any instructions?"
"I want to see Daryl," Cecilia stammered.
Douglas was taken aback for a moment and then said, "Okay, Ms. Thorne, I will arrange it for you shortly."
"No, arrange it now. I need to see Daryl today," Cecilia insisted.
Hearing this, Douglas said, "Alright, please hold on. I will report to Mr. Fields immediately."
Then, Douglas hung up.
After about half an hour, Cecilia's phone suddenly rang.
The long-waiting Cecilia immediately answered the call. "Ms. Thorne, Mr. Fields will meet you at the café below your office in half an hour."
"Okay, thank you," Cecilia quickly replied.
After hanging up, Cecilia felt a bit relieved but mostly nervous.
She really didn't know how to face Daryl again, especially since she needed his help this time.
Suddenly, Cecilia felt very useless. She had just sworn not to have any contact with him, and now she was breaking her resolve.
Cecilia silently vowed in her heart: As long as she could get through this, she would resign if the same situation happened next month. She didn't want the whole team to miss out on their bonuses.
After struggling for half an hour, Cecilia anxiously walked out of the office building.
Standing in front of the café for a minute, Cecilia took a deep breath and stepped inside.
As soon as Cecilia entered the café, she looked around and saw Daryl sitting by the window, waving at her.
Seeing Daryl, Cecilia's heart tightened!
Then, Cecilia walked over.
When Cecilia approached, Daryl politely stood up.
Ignoring Daryl's enthusiasm, Cecilia lowered her head and pretended not to see it.
After sitting down, Cecilia glanced down and saw several drinks in front of her, frowning slightly.
At this moment, Daryl smiled and said, "I didn't know what you wanted to drink today, so I ordered coffee, lemonade, and freshly squeezed juice, all your favorites."
Hearing this, Cecilia's eyes became a bit moist, and she quickly lowered her head again.
He still remembered what she liked to drink. Cecilia had to admit that Daryl was indeed good at pleasing women. This small gesture made her feel warm.
However, Cecilia knew she couldn't let herself fall for Daryl again. She couldn't make the same mistake twice.
The next moment, Cecilia looked up and said, "Thank you. I'll pay today. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to meet me."
Hearing Cecilia's somewhat stiff words, Daryl smiled and said, "No matter how busy I am, I will always make time to see you."
Seeing Daryl's focused gaze, Cecilia turned her face away and looked out the window. "Didn't you say last time that you could introduce me to some business owners? I haven't met my advertising budget for this month and need some sponsors."
Hearing this, Daryl smiled and said, "Why go far? Fields Corporation needs advertising right now. How much do you need? I can sign it immediately."
As he spoke, Daryl took out a stack of checks and a pen from his pocket, ready to fill in the amount.
However, Cecilia was extremely repulsed by Daryl's actions, thinking he was showing off his money.
But today, Cecilia had to be defeated by money.
The next moment, Cecilia seriously said, "If that's the case, then forget it."
After saying that, Cecilia stood up to leave.
"Wait!" Seeing this, Daryl quickly said.
Cecilia's hand, which was reaching for her bag, paused.
"Sit down, and let's talk properly, okay?" At this moment, Daryl's eyes were full of pleading.
Seeing this, Cecilia sat down again.
"If you don't want Fields Corporation to sponsor, that's fine. I have a few friends. I can arrange a dinner so you can meet them. I think they will help out for my sake," Daryl said, looking at Cecilia's expression.
Hearing this, Cecilia nodded. "Can it be tonight?"
Daryl immediately nodded. "No problem."
"What kind of cuisine do your friends like? I'll book a private room right away," Cecilia said.
At this moment, Daryl said, "No need. I'll have Douglas book it."
At this moment, Cecilia frowned.
He was already helping her; she couldn't let him pay for the meal too.
Probably noticing Cecilia's concern, Daryl quickly said, "You can settle the bill with Douglas later."
Hearing this, Cecilia nodded.
Then, Daryl made several phone calls in front of Cecilia and quickly arranged the dinner.
At this moment, Cecilia took out money from her wallet to pay the bill and then stood up. "I'll go home and change my clothes first."
"At six-thirty, I'll have Douglas pick you up at your place," Daryl quickly said.
Cecilia hesitated for a moment but said, "No need. Just have Douglas send me the address. I'll take a cab."
After saying that, Cecilia turned and left.
