Chapter 605 Jealousy

Seeing Seb walking in her direction, Susan quickly grabbed the document and jogged out of the ballroom.

Reaching the elevator, Susan anxiously pressed the down button several times.

Susan never dreamed that coming to get a document would lead her to run into Seb and Esme. What a coincidence, and it had to be at the Hilton Hotel.

Did he deliberately arrange the celebration banquet here? Was he planning to take advantage of the post-banquet drunkenness to do something with Esme, just like he did with her back then?

Thinking of this, Susan's heart could no longer remain calm, and all she could see were scenes of Seb and Esme being intimate.

What was wrong with her? Was she becoming paranoid? From what she knew of Seb, he wasn't the type to fool around.

However, Seb was, after all, a man, and no man could resist a beautiful, gentle, and understanding woman.

Susan ran her hand through her hair, and fortunately, the elevator arrived at that moment.

When the elevator doors opened, Susan walked in.

Entering the elevator, she reached out to press the button for the first floor, but just as the doors were about to close, a man's arm suddenly reached in, and the doors reopened!

Susan looked closely and saw that the person entering the elevator was none other than Seb.

For a moment, their eyes met, and both hesitated to speak.

The next moment, Seb stepped into the elevator.

Seeing him enter, Susan frowned.

At this point, Seb reached out and pressed the top button, which was for the rooftop of the Hilton Hotel.

Then, the elevator doors closed.

For a moment, Susan and Seb were confined in the small elevator.

Neither spoke for several seconds until Susan broke the silence.

"With a beautiful woman, fine wine, and flowers, why did you come out?" Susan said jealously.

Hearing this, Seb, who was staring deeply at Susan, immediately frowned and said in frustration, "I knew you would misunderstand!"

Upon hearing this, Susan couldn't help but sneer, "What could I possibly misunderstand?"

"Esme is just a spokesperson I hired. In recent years, she has been the most popular actress in Maple Valley. My relationship with her is purely professional!" Seb explained urgently.

"You and I were also in a boss-employee relationship once," Susan said, looking down.

"I knew you would overthink things. Believe me, Esme and I have no connection outside of work." Seeing that Susan didn't believe him, Seb stepped forward and grabbed her shoulders.

"Really? The gossip papers in Maple Valley have been publishing stories about you two for days. I must say, the photos do look quite fitting." Susan kept her eyes on the buttons of Seb's shirt, not daring to look into his eyes.

She knew his eyes were sincere at this moment, and she believed what he said, but she still felt uncomfortable.

"Those rags would print anything to sell a story," Seb spat, disgust twisting his features.

At this point, Susan realized he was holding her shoulders, and they were standing very close, almost touching.

Susan immediately struggled, but he refused to let her go.

Susan looked up and said, "Let go of me!"

"No!" Seb said stubbornly, looking at Susan.

Susan knew his stubborn nature.

So, the next moment, Susan softened her tone. "There are so many people waiting for you at the ballroom. It's not a good look for you to disappear for too long."

By this time, the elevator had reached the top floor.

The elevator doors opened!

At this moment, Seb frowned, then took off his suit jacket, rolled it up, and threw it in front of the elevator doors.

With the suit jacket blocking the doors, the elevator remained open and couldn't go back down.

Seeing this, Susan frowned and asked, "What are you doing?"

"I just want to talk to you. You don't need to be afraid," Seb said, frowning at Susan.

Hearing this, Susan said, "Why would I be afraid of you?"

"If you're not afraid, why did you run away when you saw me?" Seb blurted out.

"I..." Susan was momentarily speechless.

Did he really need to ask? They were divorced, for goodness' sake. Was she supposed to go up and greet him?

Seb glanced outside the elevator at the deep red embroidered carpet. The top floor was full of luxury suites, showcasing the international hotel's class and taste.

"Do you remember this place?" Seb suddenly asked.

Susan glanced outside the elevator. The scene of her stumbling out of one of the rooms on this floor that morning seemed to flash before her eyes.

Thinking back to that day, Susan found it somewhat amusing.

It was an accident, but that accident destined her to be entangled with Seb.

And who would have thought that the accident would result in her having Hayden, just like she now had another child in her belly? Both were accidents, but they were inevitable in her life.

At this moment, Susan couldn't help but touch her belly. She thought to herself, 'If he knew I was carrying another child, how would he react?'

Would he be overjoyed or frown in worry? Regardless of his reaction, one thing was certain: he wouldn't let her leave again.

At that time, he would feel guilty towards his late mother, Carol, and apologetic towards her.

No, she couldn't let things spiral out of control again. It wouldn't be good for anyone; everyone would live in pain.

Maybe he really had something with Esme. Maybe he would shift his attention. If he truly fell in love with Esme, he might forget about her, and she could quietly give birth to this child and raise it alone.

Having made up her mind, Susan looked at Seb and said, "Maybe you really like this place. Perhaps you always find romantic encounters here."

"What do you mean by that?" Seb immediately sensed the sarcasm in her tone.

"Don't play coy, Seb," Susan said, her eyes hardening. "You chose to have this whole event here. Maybe you're hoping for a repeat performance. A few too many toasts, a helpful staffer offering a suite for the night… it wouldn't be the first time, would it?"
