Chapter 814 His Call

Watching Leon rush out, Susan frowned deeply but felt pretty helpless.

A month had flown by.

Northstar City was warming up, and the sycamore tree out front had new buds sprouting.

The villa was super quiet in the afternoon. Hayden and Spring were at school, Mary and Kathy were napping, and Susan and Isabella were just chatting—one on the couch, the other in a rocking chair, both feeling kinda sleepy.

Susan got distracted by two birds outside the window. She looked up and saw a couple of black-billed magpies playing on the branches.

"Black-billed magpies? They have those here too?" Isabella said, surprised.

"Why not? It was just too cold before, so they stayed hidden," Susan replied.

Suddenly, Isabella felt a wave of nausea. She covered her mouth, feeling sick for a bit before taking a deep breath to calm down.

Seeing Isabella's discomfort, Susan quickly got up and brought her a few oranges. "These are sweet and sour. Have one."

"Okay," Isabella nodded, then took an orange and started peeling it.

"Your morning sickness is getting worse," Susan said, frowning.

Isabella nodded and said, "Yeah, it's really unbearable. I didn't expect pregnancy to be this tough. Were you like this too?"

Susan rolled her eyes, thought for a moment, and answered, "I was pretty uncomfortable too, but it's been so long I've kinda forgotten."

Isabella gave Susan a look. "Looks like you need to go through it again!"

Susan lowered her head and thought to herself, 'I'd like to, but I need someone to cooperate with me, okay?'

Seeing Susan's low spirits, Isabella quickly said, "In two years, no, in one year and ten months, you and Seb will reunite. If you want to have a baby, you can."

"I'll be thirty-five by then. I don't want to have another baby!" Susan said, pouting.

But in her heart, she thought time was flying by. More than two months had passed in a blink, and she wished the next two years would go just as fast.

However, she was also worried. What if, after two years, Seb still hadn't let everything go?

"Seb won't be influenced by you. I bet he'll make sure you get pregnant again. I can bet a thousand dollars on it!" Isabella said, gathering her courage.

"I'll definitely win that thousand dollars," Susan laughed, but only she knew the mixed feelings in her heart.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Susan quickly got up and said, "It must be Cecilia. I'll go get the door."

During this time, Susan, Isabella, and Cecilia had been having a blast together. Cecilia was bored at home alone, and Isabella couldn't move around much, so Cecilia often came over. The three of them chatted every day, making the days less lonely.

When Susan opened the door, she saw two delivery guys standing there, each with a box on their shoulders.

"Ms. Wilson? Your order's here," one of them said.

Susan quickly nodded. "Oh, bring them in."

The delivery guys brought the boxes into the living room and then left.

Isabella walked over, frowning. "What did you buy this time?"

"Oh, you'll see," Susan said, bending down to open the boxes.

Actually, these were things Leon had ordered. She didn't know exactly what was inside, just that they were probably supplements for Isabella.

When Susan opened the boxes, she found a bunch of high-end supplements and food for pregnant women.

Isabella sighed. "Susan, didn't I tell you not to buy these expensive and impractical things for me? Why did you get so much again?"

"Oh, there was a promotion, so I bought more. Besides, I can eat some of these too. Women need to take care of ourselves to stay young," Susan said, trying to brush it off.

Leon ordered a lot of food and drinks every two weeks, and Susan felt she was running out of excuses.

But she had to keep it up because if Isabella knew these were from Leon, she'd probably throw them all in the trash.

Isabella frowned. "Susan, you're too good to me. I've caused you so much trouble by staying at your house, and you still buy me so many supplements."

"We're friends, after all," Susan said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Although she covered most of the costs, the expensive supplements were not her doing.

"Then promise me, I'll give you some money for living expenses every month," Isabella said, feeling uneasy.

"If you keep saying that, I'll get mad. Besides, Seb is covering the living expenses here. Let's just take advantage of him a bit. He has plenty of money and won't mind," Susan laughed.

Isabella couldn't insist anymore and said with a smile, "Then after I have the baby, I'll give you a big gift. You can't refuse it."

"I'm not stupid. I won't refuse," Susan laughed.

Just then, Susan's phone rang.

"I'll take this call," Susan said with a smile, then turned to get her phone.

When she saw the number flashing on the screen, Susan frowned.

"What's wrong?" Isabella asked, seeing Susan holding the phone without answering.

Susan snapped out of it. "Oh, I'll take this call."

She then took the ringing phone to the study.

Isabella frowned at Susan's strange behavior.

By the time Susan entered the study, the phone had stopped ringing.

Susan's face was filled with disappointment.

The call was from Seb. They had agreed not to contact each other for two years, so Susan was surprised he called.

In her shock, she missed the call, and Susan felt very frustrated.

Then, a sense of panic set in.

Why did he suddenly call? Did something happen?
