Chapter 305 Jealousy
"Wait a minute!" Susan suddenly looked up and called out to George.
George stopped in his tracks and turned around, his eyes filled with hope as he looked at Susan.
Susan took a step forward, getting very close to George, and asked in a low voice, "What is the relationship between Ethan and Dominic?"
Susan remembered that George and Ethan were friends, so naturally, George knew Ethan's identity.
Hearing the question, George furrowed and then replied, "They're father and son."
Susan was stunned upon hearing this.
It seemed her judgment was correct; Dominic and Ethan were indeed father and son. The wealthy man Sophia had latched onto was Dominic. Sophia suddenly became Ethan's stepmother, and Amelia became his sister.
This relationship was really complicated!
Seeing Susan's stunned expression, George glanced in Ethan's direction and then said in a low voice, "You probably saw it too, right? Amelia's mother, that Sophia, is now married to Ethan's father Dominic, making her the wife of the chairman of Capgemini Software Company."
Susan brushed her long hair aside and smiled helplessly. "This world is really small."
"What do you mean?" George furrowed upon hearing this.
"Nothing." Susan didn't want to share her troubles with him.
However, George pressed on, "Are you in some kind of trouble? Maybe I can help you."
"Thank you, but you can't help me." Susan turned to leave.
In a moment of urgency, George reached out and grabbed Susan's arm.
Feeling the tight grip on her arm, Susan looked down at George's hand holding her arm. She couldn't help but frown.
Seeing Susan's expression, George realized he had been too impulsive, so he quickly let go of her arm and said, "I'm sorry."
"It's nothing." Susan's mind was a bit chaotic now, and she had no time to deal with the awkwardness between her and George.
At this moment, they were standing so close, and there had been physical contact, which made it look ambiguous to others.
Not far from them, Seb's cold eyes were fixed on them. His hand, holding a wine glass, was gripping it so tightly that it seemed the glass might shatter at any moment.
Meanwhile, Susan was lost in her mind. Seeing Dominic utterly captivated by Sophia in the distance, she felt that she wouldn't be able to accomplish her purpose for tonight.
Following Susan's gaze, George said, "Rumor has it that Sophia met Dominic when she went to the Robinson family to settle scores as Ethan's mother-in-law. At that time, Ethan's mother Freya was still alive, so Sophia didn't gain any advantage. But after Freya suddenly passed away, Sophia managed to latch onto Dominic. Dominic used to be quite wise and capable, but now his standards have dropped significantly. When he and Sophia got married, many people in high society sent gifts but didn't attend the banquet, which was reportedly very awkward."
"It seems Dominic is really enchanted by Sophia. But Capgemini Software Company is built by him from the ground up. Now that Sophia has become the manager of the development department, does he want to ruin Capgemini Software Company by putting it in Sophia's hands?" Susan couldn't understand why men became so foolish when they were infatuated, just like James did with Sophia back then.
"I've heard about this too. Ethan has complained to me many times, saying that Dominic is threatening to disinherit him if he doesn't marry Amelia soon. So now Ethan has to humor Dominic and Amelia. Amelia seems oblivious to Ethan's misery when he's with her and is instead quite cheerful," George said with a laugh.
Hearing this, Susan sneered, "I really don't understand what Dominic is thinking."
"You seem very concerned about Dominic and Ethan?" George asked, puzzled.
At this point, Susan knew her chances weren't great, so she said, "I took over a budget case for Capgemini Software Company, which Sophia is in charge of. She wants to inflate the budget to line her own pockets, so now I'm stuck because of it."
Hearing this, George said, "That's normal. I've heard Ethan complain about this many times. Although Ethan studied abroad and has never suffered due to his family's wealth, if he can't inherit the family business, his future will be tough. Besides, he doesn't want to give it up easily. After all, the Robinson family's business was built because of Freya, so Ethan naturally doesn't want to hand it over to someone else. So now he can only humor Dominic and Amelia."
Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but smile. She thought, 'Sophia really has something. At her age, she managed to marry into a wealthy family and even secured Amelia's marriage. James was just a reluctant choice for Sophia. Thinking about it, the most pitiful one was mom.'
"Susan, do you want me to help you?" Seeing Susan's furrowed brows, George asked with concern.
"No need!" Susan immediately shook her head and then said, "I'll handle my own affairs from now on. You don't need to get involved."
"Oh." George was disappointed but nodded.
Susan felt there was nothing more to say to him, so she forced a smile and said, "Didn't you say you had friends over there? You should go."
George hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, I'll go."
With that, George turned and walked away.
Watching George's desolate figure, Susan felt a pang of discomfort in her heart.
At this moment, Susan suddenly felt a chill behind her, sensing someone had approached her from behind.
She quickly turned around and saw Seb's imposing figure in a black suit and a stern face.
Seeing Seb suddenly in front of her, Susan furrowed.
Before Susan could speak, Seb asked first, "What’re you talking about?"
Seb's tone carried a hint of interrogation, and his expression was very serious, making Susan very uncomfortable.
So, Susan immediately straightened her back, raised her chin, and said to Seb, "I don't think I need to answer your question, do I?"
Susan's words immediately made Seb furrow. He reached out and grabbed her arm, displeased, and asked, "Didn't you break up with him? Why are you still entangled?"
